Chapter 242 - An Unique Hug
242 Ch. 242 An Unique Hug
After a light conversation for a few minutes, Anxia decided to speak Dutch.
“Elliot, how many languages ??do you know?”
Elliot hesitated to answer for a moment, but finally, he opened his hand and showed the number seven with his fingers. Seeing this answer, Anxia smiled contentedly and affectionately stroked the top of her son’s head.
“Then you two can exchange languages the next time you meet Lori. But I do hope you’re hiding nothing from your father or me.”
“I promise. But... can’t you speak other languages like Lori and me?”
“Yes, but we don’t speak as many languages ??as Lori or you. Well, at least we understand a bit when Lori speaks another language. But she has no opponents on par with her, so she’s starting to get lazy using rarely used language.”
“That’s awesome. I can’t wait to see her again. Mama... between me and Lori, who was born first?”
“…” How could Anxia answer this question when she had just found out that she had given birth to a son? “Did grandma never tell you?”
Elliot shook his head in disappointment. “Grandma never told me, and he said who was born first didn’t matter. The important thing is that I was born as a boy.”
.....
One of Anxia’s eyebrows rose upon hearing this. She couldn’t understand why her mother would place more importance on sons than daughters.
“Elliot, if your father were to come here and get you, would you come with him?”
“...” Elliot got up and sat cross-legged to see his mother’s expression clearly.
Seeing her son’s confused look, Anxia also got up to sit opposite her son.
“Papa is coming here? Did grandma also invite him here?”
Anxia shook her head in response to Elliot’s question. “No. I’m saying ‘if.’ Would you?”
Richard was coming, but Anxia didn’t know when and whether her husband had tracked her down. The man probably had acquaintances with a famous hacker named Cerberus and his team. But if the Cerberus team had never realized that someone was secretly watching her life with Lori, how could they track her down now?
Because of that, she held out very little hope of whether her husband had come to pick her up or not. Plus, she decided not to return home if Elliot didn’t go with her.
And also… there was one other emergency that Anxia couldn’t leave behind. In order to confirm the big question mark in her head, Anxia had to wait for her husband’s arrival because only Richard could help her with this.
“Can I bring Aunt Jamie too?”
“You want to take Aunt Jamie with you out of here? Is she ready?”
“She wants to come with me.”
“She does? Why do you trust her so much? She has absolutely nothing to do with our family. What if she fooled you and lied to you?”
“Aunt Jamie’s not that kind of person,” Elliot answered with a sullen face. Elliot thought his mother was starting to accept Jamie’s presence in her life, but apparently, his mother still looked suspiciously at this kind-hearted woman.
“How can you be sure?”
“Because I’m very good at judging a person’s character.” That was the answer, Elliot said in a confident tone making Anxia chuckle.
“You seem to care more about Aunt Jamie than your own mother.”
“That is not true.”
“It isn’t? Are you sure you’re not goading me?”
“...” Elliot lowered his head while occasionally glancing shyly at his mother. The little boy, who looked guilty, played with his index finger with his other hand as he answered in a low voice, “I loved Aunt Jamie the most. But that changed the moment I met you guys. It’s just… I still…”
“You’re still thinking about the situation,” continued Anxia, earning a nod from Elliot. “I understand. I should start thinking about bringing her too.”
Elliot’s head shot up, and he looked at his mother sparklingly, making Anxia stunned. The light in her son’s eyes, which sparkled and glowed like a galaxy, was so mesmerizing that she didn’t get tired of looking at it.
Elliot stood up and walked a few steps from the bed to hug his mother. At first, the child hugged her neck tightly and then lowered his right hand slightly to pat Anxia’s back three times, then went lower and came back up.
Because his hands were still tiny, his hand strokes didn’t reach down and only reached the middle of Anxia’s torso. Even so, Anxia understood the meaning of these signature pats and caresses.
“Elliot, who taught you how to hug like this?” Anxia loosened her grip and positioned her son to sit on her lap with Elliot’s body tilted to the side.
“You don’t like it?”
“It’s not like that. I’m just curious.”
“Aunt Jamie always hugged me like that. When I asked her why she had to bother making strange movements, she said it was a sign that she had accepted me as a family member.”
Anxia only responded to her son’s explanation with a smile and asked about something else. “What about grandma? Is there anything unique about grandma’s hug?”
“Nothing. Just a normal hug.”
“Hmm,” Anxia muttered in understanding without speaking further.
“Why do you suddenly feel curious about the way grandma hugs?”
“Aren’t you sleepy? It’s time for us to sleep.”
“Aw… I still want to talk to you. We couldn’t talk this freely if grandma were around.”
Anxia chuckled at her son’s whine and happily granted her son’s wish.
They were still talking about getting to know each other when Anxia heard a voice from the balcony of her son’s room. Someone was trying to intrude, and that person’s footsteps were light, like a specialist intruder. If Anxia weren’t a former assassin, she wouldn’t know this intruder’s presence.
She was starting to wonder if it was Richard or… her mother’s men?
No. If Richard had come, then Anxia would have recognized the sound of his footsteps. It must be her mother!
Loraine Shu had received news that Anxia and Elliot slept in a different room. With nothing bug device or something like that, the older woman sent someone to eavesdrop on them.
Really… what kind of mother eavesdrops on her daughter talking to her grandson? Was that woman worried that Anxia would take Elliot away?
Thinking of this last thought made Anxia uneasy.
What if the mother has an ulterior motive for stealing her newborn baby boy from her?
