Chapter 52: A Sweet Lie
"She lost both her mother and brother on the same day. She couldn't accept reality and became depressed. It was hard for a little child to handle all this but she slowly healed from it. However, her personality changed completely.
From a cheerful squirrel to a deadly beast who made a greater name just like her brother. She received the recognition of the 'Roaring Protector' sword which Leon always carried with him. Besides the pair of brother and sister, nobody has ever been able to lift it." Lia spoke as if telling a heroic story.
"That girl in the story reminds me of that lady trainer who gave me combat lessons" He mumbled as he remembered the black scabbard the blonde girl used to carry with her.
"Are you hiding something, Rio?" Lia looked at him with a doubtful gaze as if asking him to say it himself.
She knew Helia trained him who considered humans her mortal enemy. It was hard for her to believe she didn't do anything to Rio.
'I didn't expect her to find out this soon that Helia was my battle trainer.'
"What would I hide?" He chuckled and gulped nervously.
"Didn't she attack you?" Her questioning eyes demanded an answer from him. She carefully observed his expression to monitor if he was lying or not.
'I don't want to cause bitterness between you and her to ruin your sisters' bonding'
"She didn't attack me in front of the Emperor but I knew she had some old grudges against me so when we were alone training I had already used [devlin transformation], which caused her hatred towards me to reduce significantly." He lied with a smile on his face.
He tried to keep his story as genuine as possible since he could see her suspicion-filled eyes staring at him.
Lia sighed relaxedly as if her worry had ended.
"Let's go so I can register at the Outcast tower." Rio urged her as he wanted to escape the situation.
Lia nodded her head with a gentle smile.
They walked together outside the Empress Villa where female guards were standing.
Seeing Rio coming out of the Villa they raised their eyebrows but didn't ask anything because Lia was accompanying him.
"Piper, did you see that? How has that guy gone inside without us letting him in?" The female guard with brown hair looked vigilant.
"How would I know?" Piper shrugged.
"Shouldn't we inform her highness of his suspicious activity?" She was wary of Rio's action.
"I am having a bad premonition about it, Molly," Piper said worriedly.
"I'm going to tell her so he isn't able to sneak into the Empress Villa again." She said and hurriedly followed behind at a fast pace.
Molly hurriedly moved towards the duo who were about to enter the castle.
"You will put us in trouble." Piper shook her head in disappointment and followed behind her.
"Your highness, wait." She said hastily.
Lia turned around to look at the female guards who were approaching them.
The white-haired beauty didn't like anyone to interrupt her especially when she was spending it with this guy who would be leaving soon to register for his shelter.
"I have something important to tell you." She said in a hurried voice. She didn't even realize the mood of the environment because of her hasty action.
"Okay," Lia said in a stiff voice.
"Your highness, Last night this guy wanted us to let him enter the Villa and we didn't let him go as you were resting, he might have used some underhanded method to sneak into the Empress Villa," Molly said.
Hearing her words, Lia's eyes filled with coldness. A chilly aura enveloped the surroundings. Even Rio who was standing beside her shivered and felt as if he needed to wear warm clothes.
*Plop!*
Molly fell on her knees as the pressure of Lia's aura was overwhelming for her to handle.
"Didn't I tell you he will live in the Villa and not to stop him?" She glared at her and said in a majestic voice.
"Sorry, Your highness. I was wrong." Molly blurted out as it was very hard to face the aura of her highness.
She was hardly able to pick her words and saying things in defense required her to think clearly. Molly didn't dare to say anything as she could feel this white-haired beauty wouldn't listen to anything against the boy.
"Don't bully her, Wifey. They had good intentions and wanted nobody to disturb your sleep. Just forgive her." Rio said using telepathy.
Lia calmed down as she heard his voice and spoke coldly to her, "Treat him as you treat me."
Saying that she turned around to leave with Rio.
Molly stood up and wiped the sweat from her forehead as she felt countless daggers had stabbed on her the moment Lia put her aura on her.
"You were lucky she calmed down easily," Piper said as she saw the duo entering the castle.
"Our highness is too strong. I don't even think a red stage beast would be her match." Molly said as she was astonished by Lia's strength.
