Chapter 250 250: The abyss begins again [pt1]

250 250: The abyss begins again [pt1]

The mourning ceremony lasted a whole week. Nothing significant was held over that week and only after everything had settled down that things began to move again.

The time that had slowed down until now had started to flow once again and Aurora was one of those who began to look at the world in a new light.

“Hurry up Rita. You were the one who wanted to head into the abyss with me.”

Aurora had not wanted to take Rita with her when it finally came time to head back into the abyss. But there was no other way than to agree with Rita.

Otherwise, Rita would have found a way to follow her anyway and it would not have been safe to do so.

“I’m following after you so don’t you dare leave me behind. I cannot believe you wanted to leave me behind. And why did you agree to take this burden with us?”

Rita complained as she climbed the cliff. They were headed toward the entrance of the abyss which would take them directly to the tenth floor.

These were the things that were agreed upon by the tower and the Rocx academy. But only three people had been allowed to pass.

“You know why we are bringing Ur with us. He’s a creature of the abyss so he’ll be able to adjust the best down there. And he had also gotten so much better at the magic that I feel like it was time to take him down there.”

The main reason Aurora had chosen to take Ur over everyone else was simple. Ur had the best magic protection inbuild into his skin. Not to mention, he had killer instincts to be able to get out of trouble in the abyss.

Ur was much more suited to be in the abyss than Rita was and that was a fact.

But of course, this was not something Aurora would tell Rita otherwise it would hurt her ego. Since Rita wanted to tag along so badly, then Aurora would let her.

The biggest problem right now was how to handle Mei’s core right now. Aurora had found it in her hand once she had woken up but she had hidden it in her inventory until it was time for her to reach the abyss.

Her body instinctively wanted to swallow the core and make use of its power but Aurora held back for now. She did not know what would happen if her body had so many cores outside.

But now that she was in the abyss, this risk was suddenly acceptable now.

“Rita, do you want to take some rest? We passed the abyss line a while back. We will soon be transported to the tenth floor so we need to be vigilant here.”

Aurora warned Rita just as she relaxed. It must be difficult for her to move around without using magic.

And Aurora had asked Rita to not use magic right now.

“Fine, let’s rest for now. But we should not take too long to rest up. An abyss is a weird place after all.”

That it was. And that’s why Aurora set up a lot of wards to make it more convenient for them to be able to rest.

The place they were at currently was a prime spot for monster activity and Ur had already taken off to play with those smaller creatures.

Aurora threw her body sideways to rest for some time. Until it was time for the portal to open, she wanted to sleep and allow Mei’s core to mingle in her body as well.

She took out the core and swallowed it.

The candy-like shape of the core went down easily but Aurora could not help but feel like it was stuck in her throat.

Somehow, Aurora managed to swallow with much difficulty and she held her sore throat.

Instantly her body was filled with unimaginable power. Not only was the first core resonating with her, but there was also a weird feeling of being full inside Aurora’s stomach.

She held her hand to her stomach and she could feel a barely-there bulge.

‘Must be the side-effect of the core. I guess it will go back down soon.’

Aurora was not sure of this but this was the only thing that made sense. A goddess was someone who was supposed to be without imperfections after all.

And Aurora was a goddess so her body would recover soon enough.

“Hey, I am done resting. Let’s hurry up and go. I guess even Ur is restless now.”

Rita pointed out as they watched the dragon make a small circled right over their head. His wings were fluttering faster and faster every second and it was not difficult to see that he was feeling uneasy.

Even Aurora had a bad feeling about this abyssal trip since floors 11-16 used to belong to that dead overlooker.

That meant that they had no one looking after them which was a shame.

Aurora had not fully disappeared into the portal when she felt someone grab hold of her arm and tried pulling her back.

But Aurora was stubborn and she pulled the other inside the portal instead. She was about to turn back and attack the person who had taken a hold of her when she stopped.

Her eyes faced a familiar face and Ava had the decency to not even look worried or guilty.f𝑟𝑒ewe𝚋𝚗૦𝐯e𝘭.c𝗼𝓂

“Sorry, I made you panic. But I wanted to come with you both. You see, I needed to come down to these floors to see how much damage had been done here. So I hope you both don’t mind me tagging along.”

Aurora shook her head in a silent ‘no’ as this question was asked to her. She did not mind having another companion with her. She was just a little annoyed that Ava had not asked her beforehand and had scared the shit out of her by doing this.

“What the hell are you doing here? Aurora, can we send her back now. I don’t feel safe if Ava is here with us. Something is unsettling about her.”

Rita spoke those words in a whisper but it was loud enough to be heard over the silence of their surroundings.

Ava just gave them a happy smile in return, not even looking a tiny bit hurt over what she heard. But Aurora felt guilty for not defending her right here and now.

As much as Aurora understood where Rita was coming from, she had promised to help Ava out as well.

“Let her come with us. Ava is a friend and she is also someone who knows this abyss like the back of her hand. I am sure she will prove herself to be an asset to us.”

Aurora pointed out as Ava gave a fake smile that could be spotted from miles away.

That made Aurora not want to take her with them but she had already spoken on this matter so she was not going to take her decision back.

Rita looked pained after hearing that but she did not argue with Aurora any further. She just turned toward the camp they needed to walk to and continued going ahead.

Aurora shook her head and followed after Rita. knowing Ava, she would want to go her separate way and do whatever an overlooker did down here.

But surprisingly enough, Ava followed after them as well. She smiled as she watched Aurora give her a searching look and quickly explained.

“These floors don’t have an overlooker so I am free to roam them around and clear them as well. You don’t need to worry about me and my actions.”

Ava sounded confident and somehow that made Aurora even more worried about her actions down here.

Now that these floors did not have an overlooker, they were ticking time bombs. There was no one to control the stronger monsters, nor did the distinction between floors matter any longer.

It would not be long before creatures from the deeper floors begin appearing on the upper floor, making it almost impossible for anyone new to reach and clear this floor.

Ava was looking around with a serious face and it somehow reassured Aurora a little. It seemed like these floors would be alright if Ava was paying this much attention.

“Aurora, hurry up and come here. How much more time do you need to keep up with me? If you do not hurry then I will leave you in the dust.”

Rita called out and Aurora finally picked up speed as well. She did not want to be left behind so easily after all,𝗳𝓇ℯe𝓌𝚎𝚋𝓃𝚘𝚟𝘦𝑙.𝑐𝚘𝙢

Besides, Ava might have come with them and Aurora might have agreed with her, but that did not mean that Aurora had to take responsibility for her. She could do what she wanted while Aurora did what was necessary.

This was just how things were supposed to work and the trio + dragon kept on walking deeper into the abyss.
