Chapter 40: Sending Girlfriend to School
"No, no!"
Isabella Weaver hurriedly grabbed Cora Ginger, who was about to leave: "It’s just that I feel this doesn’t belong to me, and I can’t just accept such a huge favor from Mr. Hunter."
"But he said you’re his fiancée, you’ll be family in the future!"
"He was joking, I’ve known him for only a few days, and you’ve seen it yourself."
Cora Ginger’s mind was a bit dizzy: "But I don’t think he was joking. You didn’t see how scary his face looked when he found out you were fired. He told Boss Duff to get there within three minutes, and Boss Duff ran over in two minutes. His size... it was hard for him to run that fast."
Isabella Weaver was momentarily stunned, but immediately shook her head. Harry Hunter had already clearly stated that he urgently needed to marry someone to contest for inheritance, and she just happened to cross his path at this time.
"No matter what, I can’t take this position as the boss. It’s not legitimate nor justified. Please don’t go to Mr. Hunter for this. I’ll look for other part-time jobs and rely on myself for peace of mind."
Cora Ginger sighed: "You really are too foolish. Others wish to have someone like Young Master Hunter backing them, yet you keep pushing him away. Do you know how many people at our club envy you? You should seize the opportunity. Marry him, and you’ll never worry about food and clothing again, no more hard work and part-time jobs. He’s handsome too, so what are you dissatisfied with?"
Isabella Weaver smiled without explaining.
She had a different personality from Cora Ginger; she had long been accustomed to relying solely on herself for everything.
She said goodbye to Cora Ginger, left the club, and headed to the bus stop to wait for the bus.
However, instead of the bus, a sleek and luxurious Maybach sports car arrived.
The car’s sleek lines and unique design stood out. With an attention-grabbing engine roar, the cool and noble dark champagne-colored sports car stopped in front of Isabella Weaver.
Matching the car’s elegance, Harry Hunter stepped out from the driver’s seat, extending his hand toward Isabella Weaver: "Come, I’ll take you."
Isabella Weaver stared at him blankly, for an instant feeling like the female lead in a drama where the male lead abandons everything to take her to school.
The countless gazes of others waiting at the bus stop were on her, yet she was oblivious and felt that Harry Hunter seemed particularly dazzling today.
Could it be because the sun was too bright this morning?
Seeing her unresponsive, Harry Hunter stepped forward and effortlessly picked her up, casually saying, "Isabella, you’ve been staring at me in a daze twice today."
Isabella Weaver exclaimed, and just as she was about to struggle, she was already placed in the front passenger seat.
Then, Harry Hunter walked around to the other side, entered the driver’s seat, and closed the car door.
The outside noise was blocked out, leaving an intense silence, and Isabella Weaver could hear his breathing, causing her heart to skip inexplicably.
Harry Hunter suddenly leaned in, slowly drawing closer to Isabella Weaver.
"What... what do you want to do?"
"Your seatbelt isn’t fastened."
"Oh." Isabella Weaver’s tense nerves relaxed slightly.
"What did you think I wanted to do?"
"Nothing!"
Isabella Weaver quickly denied, reaching to fasten her seatbelt, only to find Harry Hunter there too. His large hand happened to lay over hers.
The warmth from his palm seeped through her skin, so hot that it burned Isabella’s heart.
She fastened the seatbelt, hurriedly withdrew her hand, and pushed away Harry Hunter, who was almost pressed against her.
Harry Hunter didn’t react particularly, and after settling down, he started the car and drove off into the distance.
