Chapter 12

There were many people who they were familiar with in this building, including a number of strong men. Why did she not look for somebody strong and instead, a pregnant woman who lived alone?

Li Ran tried not to think further. She continued to stay silent.

She hoped that they would give up and leave.

However, Li Ran was naive. Humans often do unexpected things.

“Miss Li, if you’re inside, please open the door. I’m not a zombie. Don’t tell me you distrust humans too?”

The voice gradually became louder.

Li Ran still did not respond.

She could hear some whispering. Li Ran tried to move in closer so she could hear what they were saying.

Suddenly, there was a hard slam on the door.

It was the man who was accompanying the woman. He gritted his teeth furiously.

“Break the door down!”

As soon as he said that, a rustling sound could be heard, accompanied by angry curses.

“This b*tch! Why won’t she open the door? What did she think I was going to do to her? Kill her? Ridiculous!”

The man was furious and he was stronger.

The door would not last any longer.

Li Ran quickly took out the iron ball. She grabbed as many of her belongings as she could and tossed them into the space.

She could hear noises coming from behind her.

There were many things scattered around the floor. However, Li Ran did not have much time to think. She just snagged everything that she thought was useful or necessary and entered the space.

Meanwhile…

After much effort, the door was finally broken down.

The man spit on the floor and walked in brazenly.

“Looks like there’s really nobody here.”

The woman looked around and searched every corner of the house. She could not find any traces of Li Ran.

The house was tidy and there was barely any dust.

It was obvious that the tenant had just recently left.

“Hey, you must have made a mistake. There’s nobody here.”

“Maybe.”

“Let’s see what we can take. If not, all of our efforts would have been a waste!”

The man was in a bad mood. They were lacking food. If it was not for that, they would not have risked their lives to go outside.

“This furniture is still in a pretty good condition. Can you carry it?”

“Of course.”

The man picked up a couch, but he suddenly stepped on something.

The woman looked down and saw that it was a phone!

She picked it up without hesitation and held it in her hand. Then, she went into the bedroom and began to rummage through the cabinets, thinking that perhaps she would find something.

However, there was nothing.

The woman crossed her arms.

“How could I have heard wrong? I’m sure that someone was here!” she said in discontent.

“Didn’t you hear it too?”

“Yeah… but there’s nobody here. Maybe it was another unit,” the man said disapprovingly.

He was still worried about not having food to eat.

“The door is open anyway. We’ll come back later to take another look.”

The man looked at the other units. All the doors had zombie scratches on them, including Li Ran’s. However, it did not bother him.

“Okay.”

After Li Ran entered the space, she no longer had any idea of what was happening on the other side.

She did not care either.

There was nothing left.

She organized all the things that she had brought along. Some of them were placed in the warehouse, while some were placed in the wooden house.

The house seemed to be packed with everything that she would ever need.

Li Ran’s mood suddenly brightened.

She no longer felt panicked and put what had just happened at the back of her mind.

‘Let’s take a look at today’s missions!

‘I won’t miss out on any rewards!’

How could she let such a small matter affect and disrupt her!

One of her daily missions was a kitchen task.

Li Ran went straight into the kitchen and found a basket on the table. She had never seen it before.
