Chapter 180: Congratulations, sect master!

Chapter 180: Congratulations, sect master!

The silence enveloped the venue. Even Mo Qingsha fell in thoughts.

Personally he hated spatial cultivators with passion, but the old witch had a point – two elemental lords was incredibly powerful force. Even Celestial Abyss had only a handful.

The question about the assimilation of another sect in his eyes was a laughable matter. Obviously it was normal for anyone to do. Thousands of new subordinates meant mountains of resources in yearly tribute. The decision was clear.

Elder Wang’s nostrils flared. He barely stood, supporting himself on the table, or maybe he was using it to hold himself back. His old friend, Elder Luo, stood next to him, his hand on the sword. But everyone, Mo Qingsha, elders and even junior elders knew the two had to calm down. They had been outplayed.

"It’s fine, old man." Lunax suddenly spoke. Despite the reaction, he was completely calm.

He said, "Let’s put our past behind us and work together for the brighter future!"

"You little snake!" Elder Wang hissed, "Because of you, hundreds of our disciples died! Moreover – for the past two centuries you have been kidnapping hundreds of thousands of children from different worlds! You’re a criminal that needs to be put to death!"

"Elder Wang, it won’t be something for you to decide." Yelren Vorth spoke for the first time. His voice was quiet, even slightly hypnotizing, "We’re all a part of one sect from now on!"

Only now Elder Wang realized that all this time Elder Su addressed the two as elders, as if they were already a part of the sect. And the two behaved as such as well.

"Over my dead body!" Elder Wang said, but his voice turned rasp, as if the man was drying up with every heartbeat, "You are criminals! Vorth will be trialed after this, but you, LunLun, you still have over millennia to sit in your dump. Run back before it’s too late!"

"Elder Wang, please calm down!" Elder Su said, but it was hard to tell whether her ridiculing tone was to provoke Elder Wang more, or she just made fun of him, "Don’t embarrass yourself! We have guests."

"Old man! It’s over." Lunax said, "Not only the geezer is finally dead, I’ve been pardoned. You think that because I didn’t find the spark of life I’ve no protection, but I did manage to create a spark of death! And it’s currently on the way to the overlord!"

Even Mo Qingsha’s eyes widened, him realizing the implications. This meant that even he couldn’t touch this guy from now on. No wonder he hated the spatial cultivators to their bones.

"You ... so that’s why you sent your army to the Blackwater!" Elder Wang realized, "You didn’t need them anymore! In order to create a death spark ... heavens! You killed all the people in Ashland! You killed hundreds of thousands! For what?!"

"For freedom!" Lunax shrugged, "It’s not as easy as you make it sound, old man. Just by killing a bunch you can’t guarantee the birth of a death spark. I got lucky, though."

"Lucky?" Elder Wang gritted his teeth, but at this point the rest of the elders, even Elder Su felt chills imagining the massacre this man created.

"Mhm." Lunax nodded, "But it’s fine now. You’ll be able to retire soon! Your ..."

He wanted to make another sarcastic remark, but the horrifying sight of a hand sticking out his chest, paralyzed him. More importantly, it held his own heart that was still pulsating, releasing thin streams of blood that flowed over the fingers gripping it.

Mo Qingsha, slightly panicked, stood ten feet from the table, covered in a thick layer of crimson flames. His knees were slightly bent and he had drawn his sword, but it was only a defensive reaction.

A split moment earlier he noticed something. It was a peculiarity he couldn’t explain even if he tried, but the sense of deadly danger forced him to retreat. Luckily, the damn spatial elemental lord didn’t come after him. It was the two elder candidates who he went after.

No matter how Mo Qingsha hated Elder Wang or his fellow spatial experts, he had to admit that the man had grasped crucial spatial laws and developed something scary. In fact, everyone, even Elder Wang’s closest confederates, felt horror at the sight of how his hands were currently sunk elbow-deep in the table.

The table itself was fine, but on it’s surface were two small, few inch wide rifts. Elder Wang had plunged his hands in those rifts, but the terrifying part was that the other side of those rifts were inside Lunax’s and Vorth’s chests.

The two hands, holding their bloody hearts, were sticking out from their chests, seemingly pausing for the dramatic effect. The two men were already dead, and they knew it, but besides panic and fear, they were confused.

It was the common sense that one couldn’t pass a rift if something was obstructing it on the other side. In fact, that was how people fought against the spatial cultivators opening rifts for their armies. And disregarding the fact that one had to know the exact spot where to open the rift – there had to be empty space, an area in front of it.

Lunax knew it better than anyone, that is why he couldn’t comprehend what was going on.

No matter how incredible the bloody technique was, it wasn’t as easy as it looked. The two rifts were small, and created at a short distance, but a quick look at Elder Wang’s face told anyone that he was barely staying conscious. What he did was something incredibly taxing.

"Criminals! Have! To! Die!" Elder Wang forced one word after another, and then crushed the two hearts, ending the current spectacle. Blood splattered on the table and the people around it, while two bodies lifelessly fell to the ground.

"What have you done?!" Elder Su was the first one to react. She was still in shock and her panicked scream resembled that of a dying harpy, "Overlord will kill us all!"

"No!" Elder Wang said with a heavy exhale, slumping back down in his chair. He was covered in perspiration, but even though he was pale and exhausted, he was completely calm.

He said, "That idiot said he only sent the death spark to the overlord, and not that the tribute has been accepted. One shouldn’t talk too much – you of all people should’ve known that! But since you don’t ..."

Elder Wang glanced to his left, where Elder Luo stood, and said, "Elder Luo! Please enforce the law! Execute the traitor who has brought the criminals to our doorstep and caused deaths of hundreds of our disciples!"

Elder Luo slowly looked at his old friend. At first his brows furrowed, but then a thin smile bloomed on his face.

"As you command, Sect Master Wang!" He said.

"How dare you! In the presence of ..." Elder Su continued her panicked screaming until her head, held by hair, hung in Elder Luo’s grip, while the body lifelessly fell to the floor.

"Thank you!" Elder Wang said, "Please execute all the criminals we brought back from the Backwater. You have till sunset!"

"As you command, Sect Master Wang!" Elder Luo said, and gave a slight bow.

Then he threw the head he held to the side, and rushed away, leaving behind only a burning image.

"Wang Zhen ... you ..." Elder Jiu, the elder of the Healing Hall wanted to say something, but after calling Elder Wang’s name, only her lips moved, not making a sound.

Elder Wang, of course, knew what was on her mind. In fact he clearly realized what he had done just now. But they had known each other for a long time, and he was sure that in a few years Jiu Xiaixin will come to terms with it.

The reaction of the other people at the table was more important, therefore he said, "Anyone who doesn’t agree, will be trialed as a traitor of the sect. Under my rule the mistake of our previous sect master will not be repeated – traitors and criminals are to be executed!"

Seeing that everything was over, Mo Qingsha finally relaxed. He kind of did loose face a moment ago, but it was nothing compared to loosing one’s life.

Within a heartbeat he recovered his nonchalant demeanor, sat back in the chair, and opened another bottle.

Then, breaking the chilly silence, he said to Victoria, "How about that! What do you think, dear?"

Like the others, she was also shocked, but mostly because of the incredible skill that the elder demonstrated, not the ruthlessness.

"Finally someone with a backbone!" She said, slowly wiping droplets of blood from her cheek, "A country needs a decisive and strong ruler, not a council of wimps!" frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

Mo Qingsha froze for a split moment, but then laughed, and said, "I couldn’t agree more!"

Then he emptied his glass in one go, and added, "Congratulations, Sect Master Wang! I’ll have to trouble you to send us back. I’m afraid any entertainment you could offer from now on will seem boring."
