Chapter 462 - 457: I’m in a Hurry

Chapter 462: Chapter 457: I’m in a Hurry

Seeing how Bai Qi had casually dispatched the Arrow-Feathered Flying Fish school, Mo Li was left with his mouth agape in shock.

Though there was something odd about Bai Qi’s Ancestral Beast, it still was a creature with the characteristics of a Lord.

But the fighting power that Delta had just displayed was even beyond that of a King creature of the same stage.

Is this the difference between a genius and us ordinary folk?

“You did well. Go back and have a thorough research on the difference between the sea creatures and the ferocious beasts.” said Bai Qi.

Blurb Blurb.

(Understood, master.)

Delta nodded its head, ready to head back into the secret realm, when suddenly the dragon wings on its back transformed into feathered wings, and the rest of Delta started to change as well.

“Experiencing another loss of control?”

Upon seeing this, Bai Qi furrowed his brows, and Delta also seemed to snap back to reality, halting Survival of the Fittest and his abnormal transformation promptly vanished.

“It seems we should refrain from using Survival of the Fittest until we successfully awaken with the help of Temporal Department resources.”

Although unsure as to why Delta’s skills would lead to loss of control after awakening, it was more prudent to not use the skill for safety’s sake.

Bai Qi recalled Delta back into the secret realm before heading back to the post. Seeing everyone’s shocked expressions, Bai Qi scratched his head awkwardly.

“I’m sorry, have I done something wrong?” he asked.

Mo Li quickly came to his senses upon hearing this, shook his head and responded: “No, you did nothing wrong. You actually helped us neutralize a major crisis.”

The scale of the fish school they just encountered was quite considerable. Even for their group of Six-Stage Beast Trainers, dealing with it would have required a warship.

And now, Bai Qi had settled it with just one of his pet creatures, which naturally astonished them.

“That’s a relief.”

Bai Qi sighed with relief and then asked,

“Brother Mo, do you often come across fish schools like the one we just encountered?”

Mo Li shook his head and said, “The Arrow-Feathered Flying Fish school usually stays active in the open sea. It’s very rare for it to venture into inland waters and even more so in large numbers like we saw today.”

“After all, for most of the sea beasts, only the weak tend to swim schools, while the stronger ones choose to swim alone. The Arrow-Feathered Flying Fish school is one of the more powerful fish amongst the schooling sea beasts.”

“I see,” said Bai Qi while nodding. He now had a general understanding of sea beast behavior.

“Brother Mo, do you have any information on sea beasts? It would be helpful for me when I venture into the sea alone.”

“Of course, while information on sea beasts isn’t readily available inland, almost everyone here at the Southern Abyss Coast has it,” Mo Li responded and then took out his portable smart brain to copy and send Bai Qi the sea beast directory.

“Thank you.”

Looking at the vast array of sea beasts listed in the directory, Bai Qi nodded satisfactorily and began to look for suitable targets.

“Captain, will there be any tutorials?” a team member suddenly inquired, approaching Mo Li.

“Tutorials, my foot! Let’s have a match instead!” Zhang Kai retorted and then ran off to his post, stating absolute disinterest in the matter.

That wasn’t a tutorial group at all; it was a group for masochists if anything!

Unless he was out of his mind, he wouldn’t be caught dead doing something like that.

After warding off the Arrow-Feathered Flying Fish school, the remainder of the patrol journey went rather smoothly.

Mo Li deliberately helped Bai Qi quickly familiarise himself with the Southern Abyss Coast by taking him to several important areas, not returning until dusk.

“That is pretty much it. And the last thing to remember is never to wander off at sea after nightfall. This is crucial!” Mo Li warned.

Seeing Mo Li’s serious expression, Bai Qi took note of his advice.

“Rest assured, Brother Mo, I don’t have the habit of wandering off at night,” Bai Qi assured. His nights were usually reserved for research, and he wouldn’t have ventured out even if Mo Li hadn’t advised him against it.

“That’s wise,” Mo Li responded. He then got into the moving outpost and started journeying back.

Night falls quickly at sea. By the time Bai Qi and the others returned to the Boundary Wall, it was already completely dark. The automatic outpost had already made its move, relieving them of their duties.

“Well, Brother Mo, I better head out now,” said Bai Qi after Mo Li had dropped him off at his temporary accommodation provided by the association. After an exchange of pleasantries, Bai Qi bid everyone goodbye and dove headfirst into the secret realm.

Kapoot Kapoot!

(Master, hurry up! These large fish taste so delicious!) said Gamma after seeing Bai Qi. It immediately invited him to sit down and served multiple bowls filled with fish.

“Grilled fish, steamed fish, fish cooked with brown sauce, sashimi…”

Bai Qi’s eye twitched as he said, “I only asked you to research the differences between sea beasts and ferocious beasts, not discover new ways of cooking them…”

Kapoot Kapoot?

(Difference? Does it count if I say these large fish are particularly tender?) Gamma asked, looking genuinely puzzled. Bai Qi could only sigh at its obliviousness, expressing his helplessness.

Blurb Blurb.

(Master, Delta has already conducted the research. The Arrow-Feathered Flying fish’s double-level isn’t exactly high, but its constitution and energy value appear to be far superior to the ferocious beasts of the inland.) declared Gamma.

“Is that so?”

Bai Qi took the monitoring report on the Arrow-Feathered Flying Fish from Delta’s hand and swiftly skimmed through it.

“So because the resources in the sea are plentiful, is that why the bodies of sea beasts are usually so large?”

Bai Qi put down the file, gaining a basic understanding of why the sizes of sea beasts were generally larger.

“So, getting materials from sea beasts would lead to higher quality, right?”

Bai Qi pointed to one side, where spines Gamma had cut from the Arrow Feather and Flying Fish were arranged neatly in bundles of ten.

“Grandfather, Yu has already checked. The level of these spines is roughly classified as rare, which is significantly higher than materials from fish of the same level.”

Yu quickly reported the data on these spikes.

‘Rare’, although there was a significant price gap between it and ‘Epic’, a large quantity could nearly make up for this difference.

“I can’t believe I only just now thought to go to the sea. What a missed opportunity!”

Bai Qi pounded his chest in regret, while Jie Ta, who was already happily feasting besides him appeared slightly confused.

Snort snore?

(What’s wrong with master?)

Crunch crunch.

(Don’t worry, master does this often, you’ll get used to it.)

Snort snore.

(I understand.)

The Arrow Feather and Flying Fish were high in energy and extremely delicious, which made these five pets, including Alpha, particularly happy.

As for Bai Qi, the energy value was too high, so he had to reluctantly give up on eating them.

However, Bai Qi no longer cared.

At this time, he was completely immersed in planning for the coming days.

“Shield Skinned Fish, Glass Squid, Bat Demon Fish…they’re all walking sacks of Federal Coins!”

The next day.

Zhang Kai woke up early, heading straight for Bai Qi’s temporary residence.

Although the two didn’t belong to the same city, and even lost to each other in the joint city exam, the two knew each other. Being somewhat of an owner of the city, he still needed to offer Bai Qi a courtesy visit.

“Huh? Zhang Kai, why are you here?”

Jiang Guan looked curiously at Zhang Kai, who was standing at Bai Qi’s door with a crumpled face.

“Jiang Guan? I’m going to take Bai Qi on a tour around the area.”

Zhang Kai replied.

“You’re looking for Bai Qi? He left quite early. It seems like he went hunting at sea, and should be back soon.”

Jiang Guan pointed towards the sea with a touch of admiration in his eyes.

“Even with such a strong talent, he still works so hard. It’s no wonder he has achieved so much.”

“He’s already gone hunting out in the sea?”

Zhang Kai raised an eyebrow. Just as he was about to ask Jiang Guan for Bai Qi’s whereabouts, he saw Bai Qi leisurely returning from the distance.

“Zhang Kai, Jiang Guan, what are you doing here?”

Bai Qi looked somewhat puzzled and asked.

“Nothing really, I just wanted to take you on a tour around the area.”

Zhang Kai said, “You’ve already come back from sea hunting? How was the haul?”

“Nothing much, not many things to take, I’ll have to learn from Brother Mo later on how to find groups of sea beasts.”

Bai Qi thought back to the mountain-sized pile of Frozen Giant Claw Crabs in the hidden boundary and shook his head.

Due to the recent increase in training intensity, the appetite of Gamma and others had grown, especially with the Parasitic Beasts that they needed to feed. These Giant Claw Crabs weren’t even enough to make one meal.

“It’s quite normal for you to experience this on your first sea trip, you’ll get used to it slowly.”

Hearing Bai Qi’s words, Zhang Kai’s waist straightened unconsciously, “If you’re not busy, I can guide you?”

Each trade had its masters, even though Bai Qi was quite powerful, but in the field of sea beasts, he was still quite confident.

“That would be great, I’ll have to trouble you then.”

Bai Qi nodded. Having someone familiar with the place showed him the ropes would definitely save a lot of trouble. Although he could have asked either Mo Guan or Mo Li, those two were somewhat high-ranking. It was better to ask someone who was leisurely like Zhang Kai.

“Hold on for a bit, I need to deliver some materials first, they’re taking up a lot of space.”

“Alright, I’m not in a hurry.”

Zhang Kai nodded. The large batch of Arrow Feather and Flying Fish from yesterday, even after considering for potential losses, the number wasn’t small. It was expected that they would need to be cleared out.

The three arrived at the material submission office of the association, and since it was still early, only a few people were present. It was Bai Qi’s turn almost immediately.

“Hello, Master Bai Qi, are you here to submit materials?”

The receptionist, a woman, greeted him with a warm smile.

“Yes, you can convert them directly into Federal Coins.”

Bai Qi nodded and said, “However, the quantity may be quite a lot, do you want to get a few more of your colleagues to help?”

“No need, we are all professionals here, we work efficiently.”

“That’s great.”

Bai Qi nodded and then immediately dumped a large number of Arrow Feather and Flying Fish spikes from the hidden boundary.

“So it’s like that.”

Upon seeing this, Zhang Kai nodded slightly. Coming across so many Arrow Feather and Flying Fish were quite rare, and it could be counted as Bai Qi’s luck.

However, before Zhang Kai could call Bai Qi to leave, Bai Qi dumped a bunch of Frozen Giant Claw Crab shells from the boundary, filling up the entire hall.

“That’s all for now. Could you count them for me? I’m short on time.”

Bai Qi patted the receptionist, who was completely stunned, and began pondering the next hunting target in his mind.

The resources of the sea were too abundant; he couldn’t waste any time…
