Chapter 60: Right Intuition

Chapter 60: Right Intuition

After eating more than he imagined because the food was delicious and he had never eaten something so good, Tyr takes a deep breath to remember the reason he came.

"Did you like the food, King Tyr?" Lee asks.

"Yes. Who made this?" Tyr asks.

"Astri did. With our help." Claud answers.

"It was very delicious. Thank you." Tyr says to Astri.

She nods, smiling, and then goes back to eating her fruit.

"However, I came here to understand your motives for coming here and creating this city, Higher Priest. It didn’t look like something friendly when you did that." Tyr says to Claud.

"I know. But I had to do it for safety." Claud answers.

"What do you mean safety? You say as I was your enemy?"

"You’re not the enemy. Now I know that. It was good that you came here because we can see that you’re not the enemy. The things I was seeing in your mind were simply planted by someone else."

Tyr knows Claud can read minds even in distance. But he can’t hold a curious face to know what Claud was talking about.

"I met Astri and I ended up falling in love with her. Her safety and well-being is my priority. And at the Great Wall City, she would be too exposed and she would need to live locked like I used to live. Since your great grandfather, your family started to feel oppressed by my existence and see me as a competitor. As someone who wants to take the power from you and that’s the last thing I want to do. Until now, your Elders always say to you that I’m looking for ways to have more power than you. Am I right?" Claud says.

"Why do you say that and have the most powerful beasts? You gave them a long life to be more powerful than others. Why not ours?"

"Because I’m only one beastman. Even with my powers, I needed and still need help and as time passed it was hard to find the right people to trust. Then my guards are beasts I trust with my life. Your father, one of the Elders, knows that my mission is to keep the balance in our world. The balance is not a matter of equal powers. It is the balance of good and evil. Unfortunately, I don’t feel safe in the Great Wall City and I didn’t want to risk my mate living there. She’s too important to risk her like this. So I decided with my companions here to build this place, to keep us safe. We don’t care if you are more powerful or not, we only want to live in peace and in balance." Claud explains.

"I still don’t understand. You say that, but this tribe is getting richer and richer with your salt market. You can’t say that you don’t want more power."

"We need people to help us live in peace, for that they need to feel safe, and seeing only us having this castle would make them feel used as bait. We used the salt market to build our walls and also help people grow and feel that here they can help us and live happily. You know that more than us since you’re a king, when the people are not happy they will fight you." Lee speaks.

"I see.. Would you share this salt market with me then?"

"With you, yes. Like I said, you’re not the problem here." Claud says.

"And what is the problem?"

Claud sighed and looked at the children, who were yawning and sleepy.

"I’ll take them. I’ll be right back. Come, boys." Astri says, and stands up calling Elias and Kai.

She takes Yuki and then brings them to their bedroom. She asks the boys to take care of their sister, kisses their heads, and goes back to the dining table.

"Why do you want your female to listen to everything?" Tyr asks.

"You will learn the reason soon." Claud answers.

"You asked what the problem was." Wayde speaks to Tyr.

"Yes. And what is it?"

"I discovered reading the elders’ minds and their allies that were in my temple that they’re partnering with Monsters. You might not believe and I understand since you were raised to believe in them constantly and think I’m an enemy. As I said before, my priority now is protecting my mate and she would be exposed there." Claud says.

".. How long are you spouses? I remember you helped one of yours survive the backlash of losing a mate, you can also do that to yourself."

"I want to protect her not only because of the backlash if I lose her. She needs protection more than I do just for being who she is." Claud answers.

Tyr looks at Astri confused. She’s a beautiful and unique beastwoman indeed, but is that enough to do all this?

"Like I told you to your father, but he apparently doesn’t believe in this. There are ancient beast kinds that are related to the force that created this world. Since we’re very few in this world, the balance is always at risk. Monsters, devil beasts, always looked after these ancient beasts to consume them so the evil energies would be stronger." Claud explains.

"So you and her are ancient beasts? From the same kind?"

"Not exactly from the same kind. My kind came from hers, like lizards and snakes came from dragons."

"Is this really necessary? If we do this there’s no going back." Lee asks, worried.

Shung and Tyr were looking at Astri and Claud so curious that they were almost pleading to know the truth.

Claud looked at Astri who was watching quietly.

"You can tell. I don’t feel he’s bad or evil. Shung is also reliable." Astri says.

Claud sighs again.

"Why do you think I have powers, King Tyr? And what kind of powers do you think I have?" Claud asks.

"I know you can read minds and talk to people even from a distance. That you’re powerful, but no one ever saw you fighting. You don’t have to because of your guards. No one knows your real name as well. It’s said you have powers because you’re an ancient kind, and others believe it because you’re the Devil King."

"I asked what do you believe?"

Tyr takes a little longer to answer, wondering if he should answer. He looks at Astri and then at Claud again.

"I don’t think you’re evil. I’m just aware of how secretive you are." Tyr answers.

"See? That’s my proof. You’re welcome. War avoided. Points for me." Astri says and stands up to go to the kitchen to prepare more food.

She knows this talk will take longer and they will need food to keep in a peaceful talk all night.

"What?" Tyr asks confused.

"We were aware of you coming here to confront us. However, Astri believed we could trust you. She said we should hear your thoughts after you learn about things to see if a war is necessary. In her eyes, she can see it’s not necessary. And I trust her judgment." Cyprian speaks

Tyr looks at her again, even more confused. It looks like she knew about him more than what normal beastmen knew.

"Why are you so sure you can trust that we will not attack you?" Tyr asks Astri.

"Because you question. You want to know the reasons. Someone who only wants more power with the wrong motives doesn’t question. Someone who wants real peace for his kingdom will avoid a confrontation." Astri simply answers, and that takes Tyr by surprise.

How does a female have such a capacity to see the little gaps?

"Who are you?" Tyr asks.

"Before you know who she is, let me tell you..." Claud says and then he feels a deep pressure that interrupts him.

They hear the kitchen spoon falling from Astri’s hands and her trying to support herself on the counter.

Her spouses ran to her quickly.

"Sit her here!" Claud says pointing at the couch.

They’re impressed when they see her eyes shining like the stars were moving inside her eyes. Shung and Tyr are more than impressed.

"Nature is acting through her for something. I also felt a deep pressure. Like danger is lurking around." Claud speaks.

"Why she’s not speaking?" Wayde asks worried.

"Just wait. She has a much stronger connection with Nature and Astri can communicate with it differently."

They for some seconds and then Astri’s eyes come back to normal. Then she looks at them with a serious face.

"Monsters are getting closer, a lot of them. Enough to kill all of King Tyr’s soldiers. They’re lurking to attack them. You must help them. I’m sure they want to kill King Tyr and his army to incriminate us." Astri says.

They don’t question and nod together.

"Claud and Zin. Saul and Galion too. You stay to protect Astri and the cubs. We will go." Lee says.freewёbnoνel.com
