Chapter 27

Qi Shenbai glanced at the iPad. There was an unfinished picture on it. It looked like a manga character, but it looked a little familiar. Xu Jiaojiao saw that he was staring at the iPad, so she nervously gripped the pen and did not speak.

Qi Shenbai looked at her for a while before retracting his gaze. His gaze fell on Xu Jiaojiao’s fair little face. “The butler said that you had something to discuss with me.”

Xu Jiaojiao returned to her senses and quickly nodded. She looked at him with her clear, bright eyes, seeming a little too embarrassed to speak.

Qi Shenbai gave her a hint of a smile as he pulled out the chair beside her and said, “If you have anything to say, just say it.”

“The Mid-Autumn Festival is in a few days.” Xu Jiaojiao licked her lips and pleaded, “We’re going to have a family banquet that day. Can you accompany me back?” Her grandmother would definitely be at the Mid-Autumn Festival family banquet. If she went back alone, her grandmother might get suspicious.

“Sure.” Qi Shenbai guessed that this was what she wanted to say, so he agreed without hesitation.

Xu Jiaojiao’s eyes lit up. She did not expect Qi Shenbai to agree so readily. “Really?”

Qi Shenbai nodded.

“Is your family alright with that?” Xu Jiaojiao was a little worried. The Mid-Autumn Festival was a festival for family reunions, so perhaps his family would have a family banquet as well.

“It’s alright.” Qi Shenbai did not want to say anything more.

Xu Jiaojiao’s eyelashes fluttered. She didn’t know if it was because she was too sensitive or something else, but she felt that Qi Shenbai did not want to mention his family.

“Thank you.” No matter what, Xu Jiaojiao still had to thank Qi Shenbai.

“Is the family banquet for lunch or dinner? If it’s lunch, I’ll get Pei Yan to rearrange the schedule,” Qi Shenbai asked.

“It’s dinner.” Xu Jiaojiao blinked. Did Qi Shenbai not have the day off for the Mid-Autumn Festival? Wasn’t being the CEO really that difficult?

Qi Shenbai nodded and stood up. “Alright, then you should rest early.”

“Good night, Mr. Qi.” Xu Jiaojiao had a sweet smile on her face.

After taking two steps, Qi Shenbai thought of something and turned to look at Xu Jiaojiao. “Do you have a WeChat account?”

“Huh?” Xu Jiaojiao was stunned for a moment before she replied, “I do.” Although she grew up in the countryside, she was not completely out of touch with society, so of course she had WeChat.

Qi Shenbai walked back and extended his palm.

“???”

“Give me your phone.”

Xu Jiaojiao belatedly handed him her phone and unlocked it. Qi Shenbai opened WeChat, entered his phone number, and added himself as a friend. Then, he returned to the home page and saved his phone number into her phone. “If you need anything in the future, you can send me a WeChat message or call me.”

Xu Jiaojiao took the phone and nodded. Her smile became even sweeter. “Okay.”

Qi Shenbai returned to his room. Xu Jiaojiao lowered her head and looked at the number she had just saved on her phone. There were three words written on it: Qi Shenbai. After a while, she received a WeChat notification on her phone saying that Qi Shenbai had accepted her friend request. Xu Jiaojiao clicked on his WeChat profile picture.

Other than his name, there was no other information. His WeChat Moments was also blank. It was not that he was hiding his WeChat Moments from her, but that he did not have a single post on his WeChat Moments. His profile picture was also black, pitch-black, and nothing else.

Xu Jiaojiao pursed her lips and put down her phone in boredom. She picked up her iPad and continued to draw the unfinished drawing. Initially, there was only a picture of a little girl, but now there was a man beside her. He was holding a cotton swab and medicine in his hand.

It was the scene from when Qi Shenbai had changed her wound dressing previously. She did not know why she had drawn that scene, but she had subconsciously sketched it nonetheless. Moreover, when she drew it, her heart was very calm and warm.

On the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival, Xu Jiaojiao had asked the driver, Cang Xing, to send her back to the Xu family home early in the morning before giving Cang Xing a day off.

Old Madam Xu had been brought back to the Xu Family home yesterday. When she saw Xu Jiaojiao return, she was overjoyed. She held Xu Jiaojiao’s hand and said, “Why are you back so early? You could have slept in a little longer.”

Xu Jiaojiao handed the gift that she had bought in advance to the servant. “I missed you, Grandma. I couldn’t sleep, so I came back.” After saying that, she looked around and said, “Where’s my brother? Don’t tell me he’s still working today?”

“Your brother is sleeping,” his mother said disdainfully. “If he was half as diligent as you, I wouldn’t have to worry.”

“Haha, Mom, Big Brother works hard every day. It’s a rare holiday for him, so he can sleep in if he wants.” Xu Jiaojiao put in a good word for Xu Zhengyang, and Mrs. Xu gave up on the idea of waking Xu Zhengyang up.

As Mrs. Xu walked towards the kitchen, she said, “Your father has some business to attend to in the afternoon, so he won’t be back for lunch. Let’s have lunch first, then we can have dinner together.”

“Okay,” Xu Jiaojiao replied.

“Where’s Lil Qi?” Mrs. Xu tugged at Xu Jiaojiao’s hand. “Didn’t he come back with you?”
