Chapter 7

Her Information

Qi Shenbai looked up. “I remember there are surveillance cameras in the ward.”

“That’s right. Back then, I was worried that the nurse would not be able to take good care of Miss Yunduo, so I installed a surveillance camera.” Pei Yan hurriedly took out his phone, opened the surveillance software, and handed it to Qi Shenbai.

Just as Qi Shenbai lowered his head to take a look, he saw Xu Jiaojiao picking up a needle on the screen and stabbing it into Qi Yunduo’s middle finger…

Pei Yan’s expression changed drastically when he saw this scene. “Mr. Qi, Miss Xu is…” As he spoke, he was about to push open the door of the ward, but Qi Shenbai stopped him.

Pei Yan turned around and looked anxious. “Mr. Qi, it’s obvious that Miss Xu doesn’t know anything. She will only harm Miss Yunduo…”

Qi Shenbai did not say anything, nor did he let Pei Yan move.

Ten minutes later, the door of the ward creaked open. Xu Jiaojiao looked up and saw Qi Shenbai and Pei Yan standing at the door. Pei Yan was looking at her angrily, while Qi Shenbai had no expression on his face. He only glanced at her sharply before looking past her at Qi Yunduo, who was lying on the hospital bed.

When Pei Yan saw that Qi Yunduo was still unconscious, he could not help but ask, “Miss Xu, why isn’t Miss Yunduo awake yet?” His tone was filled with distrust, as if Xu Jiaojiao was a liar.

Xu Jiaojiao did not answer Pei Yan’s question. Instead, she met Qi Shenbai’s eyes. Qi Shenbai’s black eyes held the same doubt, but he was more patient than Pei Yan.

Xu Jiaojiao said, “Miss Qi will wake up soon.”

“How soon?” Qi Shenbai finally spoke.

Xu Jiaojiao pondered for a moment and replied conservatively, “A week at most.” If she remembered correctly, Qi Yunduo should wake up in three or four days. However, she was afraid that something unexpected would happen, so she added a little more time to her estimate.

After that, Qi Shenbai did not ask any more questions and instructed Pei Yan, “Send Miss Xu back.”

“No need.” Xu Jiaojiao refused. “I have classes at school today, so I’ll just take the subway back.” Qi Shenbai’s car was very expensive. If the black Bentley was parked at the school gate, rumors about her would spread through the school in less than an hour.

Qi Shenbai did not insist. Just as Xu Jiaojiao was about to leave, he suddenly said, “Wait a minute.”

Xu Jiaojiao turned around with a puzzled look in her eyes. “Is there anything else?”

Qi Shenbai did not answer. Instead, he gestured to Pei Yan, who immediately understood and left first. Without anyone else around, Qi Shenbai looked at Xu Jiaojiao and asked, “How did you know about Yunduo?”

Xu Jiaojiao’s eyelashes fluttered and she quickly replied, “I heard about her from my brother, of course.”

“Is that so?” There was no emotion in Qi Shenbai’s voice. He said calmly, “But I’ve never told Xu Zhengyang about Yunduo.” Other than the Qi family, no one else knew that Qi Yunduo was unconscious.

Xu Jiaojiao was shocked. “???!”

After Xu Jiaojiao left, Pei Yan walked in and handed Qi Shenbai a stack of documents. “Mr. Qi, all the information about Miss Xu is here.”

Qi Shenbai flipped through the documents. The first thing he saw was a two-inch photo of Xu Jiaojiao. Her hair was tied into a bun, and her round face was filled with an air of childishness.

Pei Yan explained, “Xu Jiaojiao is Xu Zhengyang’s biological sister. Not long after she was born, she was sent to the countryside to recuperate with Old Madam Xu. She was only brought back to Luo City at the age of 15. However, I went to the hospital where Xu Jiaojiao was born and investigated. There was nothing wrong with Xu Jiaojiao’s body when she was born. Moreover, there were no records of her being treated for any major illnesses over the years.”

Xu Jiaojiao was clearly not sick, but they said that she was sick and sent her to the countryside. No matter how he thought about it, it was strange.

Qi Shenbai was not interested in the Xu family’s secret. What he cared about was whether Xu Jiaojiao could wake Qi Yunduo up.

Pei Yan was also worried about this. He looked at Qi Yunduo on the hospital bed and said worriedly, “Mr. Qi, if Xu Jiaojiao was deliberately deceiving you…”

“It’s fine.” Qi Shenbai finished reading the document in his hand and handed it to Pei Yan as he casually said, “There’s also Xu Zhengyang.”

He would have the older brother repay the debt his younger sister owed him. He would not do anything to Xu Jiaojiao, but there was no need to show mercy to Xu Zhengyang.

Pei Yan blinked. “…”

Xu Zhengyang, who had no idea about this, felt a chill down his spine.

Ever since Qi Shenbai exposed her lie in the hospital, Xu Jiaojiao had been on tenterhooks for a few days. Every day, she would kill time in the school library and go back at night. The next day, she would run out before dawn just to avoid meeting Qi Shenbai.

It was as if there was a guillotine hanging above her neck, and she did not know when it would fall. She was so scared that she did not have time to think about Lu Zhuo.
