Chapter 49: Not for you

49 Chapter 49: Not for you

After a momentary pause, the Guardian finally spoke, his voice carrying a hint of mystery. "The Tower of Gods is a realm of its own, offering numerous opportunities for players to achieve greatness. It is primarily suited for those with a pure nature, at least for the most part."

He didn't answer and completely ignored Raven's question. Instead, he continued with his explanation.

"That place is the best if you want to find Godly Bloodlines. Unfortunately, it won't be easy like it was in the Bloodline Trial. You're five years too late."

"Most of the Bloodlines are already taken, and the ones which haven't been taken, they are almost impossible to find."

He provided Raven with as much information as he could, detailing the unique aspects of the Tower of Gods and its distinct set of laws.

"Unlike the Demon Tower, the Tower of Gods operates under its own set of rules."

"There are many things about the Tower of Gods, but unfortunately I can't tell you that much. Just like the Tower of Demons, it also has a total of a hundred floors, with one Guardian managing each floor."

After he finished, he turned his attention to the Third Tower. "And lastly, it's the Tower of Heroes. When compared with the strength of the Players in each tower, the Tower of Heroes is the weakest."

"Entrapped within the Tower of Heroes are the mortals who surpassed their limits, gaining godlike abilities in various eras... When compared by strength, they could stand equal to gods in their time."

"They are the beings immortalized in mythical books of their world as imaginary existences in various tales. However, not many people know that they are real."

"The Tower of Heroes is the safest tower in comparison. It's a world where killing another Player isn't allowed. If someone kills another Player, they lose quite a lot of their hard earned levels, along with receiving some more punishments."

Even though the Guardian gave as much information as he could, he knew it was hard for Raven to make up his mind. That was why, he also gave him a suggestion of his own.

"You know you have offended a Goddess? Keep that in mind when selecting a Tower."

He couldn't directly influence Raven's decision, but he subtly reminded him that the Tower of Gods was a bad choice, especially after what had happened.

He knew that the most dangerous choice for Raven was the Tower of Gods. On the other hand, the Tower of Demons was a good place for him.

He already had a Demonic Bloodline. His nature was also partially Demonic. It was as if he was made for the Tower of Demons, where he could flourish the most.

If it wasn't for the loophole, he was sure that Raven would've been sent to the Tower of Demons.

On the other hand, the Tower of Heroes was too weak, at least on the lower floors. Without enough challenges, it was hard for anyone to grow to their full potential.

"So, which of the three do you want to select?" he asked.

A notification appeared before Raven, with three options. Each of the three options had the name of a tower written before it, beckoning him to select one.

Despite the implicit suggestion from the Guardian, Raven didn't hastily make his decision.

He knew his purpose for being here wasn't solely to become stronger or explore. He had one specific reason for coming here... It was for his brother.

Focused on this goal, Raven asked the most crucial question, "Which Tower was my brother sent to?"

He didn't care which was easy or which path was dangerous. What he cared about was where he could find Arze and the other killers of his brother.

The Guardian had a feeling that Raven was going to ask that question. He scratched the back of his head, slightly hesitating in answering.

The Guardian hesitated, scratching the back of his head. Eventually, he responded, "As I mentioned before, I am unable to provide specific information about other players. However, I can offer a little insight: the most dangerous path is often the one individuals find themselves on."

Though the Guardian's response was vague, Raven discerned its meaning.

For him, the most dangerous path was the Tower of Gods, where he had already made a few enemies. And now, Arze and the others were also there. That made it even more dangerous. It was precisely what he sought.

Without hesitation, he reached out his hand and placed his finger on the second option.

[You have Selected the Tower of Gods. Please confirm]

[Y/N]

Raven confirmed the option. However, to his surprise, nothing happened. The screen disappeared, and a new screen appeared with the same exact words, asking him to select between one of the Three Towers.

Even the Guardians appeared surprised. As soon as Raven clicked, he should've disappeared, and entered the Tower of his choice. Yet he was still in his spot.

Frowning, Raven reached out his hand, touching the same option. Unfortunately, this time he couldn't even touch the options.

Not only the second option, but all the other options were blocked out, and he didn't select any option at all. It was as if the screen had become completely unresponsive. The screen was completely frozen.

Raven turned to the Guardian. "Why can't I select? I can't even touch the screen now."

The Guardian had also experienced this situation the first time. Even though Raven was the first person to receive the option to choose, it wasn't supposed to freeze.

He rubbed his chin, trying to think. He could see that nothing was wrong with the screen. Everything was working perfectly fine and there was no problem. Still, Raven couldn't select the option.

"Everything seems to be fine. If you still can't click, that means that the screen this time isn't meant for you." As he spoke, he turned to Elia.

Elia wasn't a player and wasn't supposed to get the option. She could go with her master, so this was strange. Still, he had to test. 𝚋𝚎dno𝚟𝚎l.n𝚎𝚝

Raven told Elia to step forward and touch, to see if the screen this time was meant for her.

Unfortunately, Elia also couldn't touch it. The screen remained completely unresponsive.
