Chapter 238: A sudden surprise

Chapter 238: A sudden surprise

Yi Fang's words shocked Fu Linguo.

He did not appear to be lying.

"Are you certain?"

"Of course!," came Yi Fang's confident voice, "I see why you are interested in knowing this. Mr. Fu, this is no secret. I know very well that the management of the Tang Enterprise has also used some hard means to get you to agree, hasn't it?"

Fu Jianguo wanted to say that before President Jing expressed interest in him, he was a relatively unknown name.

She was the one who recognized his team's potential when he was at the brink of closing down his business and start something new.

How could they have forced him?

Why would he have to be forced to accept their lucrative offer and a chance to earn a name for himself if the project came to success?

However, tactfully, Fu Jianguo altered his words. "You know?" He forced expressions of sorrow over his face.

Yi Fang moved forward and tapped his shoulders encouragingly. "Brother, do not feel down. It's not only me. Everyone else knows too. The people in the close circle of this company's President are very loyal to her. But now I see it was also most probably because of this threatening that goes on in the company. That is the reason none of us dared to mention this. If anyone of us whispered a word against the management, the devotees would bash us."

Fu Jianguo fished out a lot of useful information from that Yi Fang. This matter was very suspicious. After parting from Yi Fang, he took note to inform Mei Xiu. But before that, he moved out to observe how President had tackled the situation.

To his surprise, the situation outside had completely reversed.

After the question that was akin to a knife with sharp edges on both sides, Jing Lihua had fallen silent for a brief pause. "Whether the reason is valid or just an excuse doesn't concern us..." With an indifferent expression, she announced.

Her words instigated another fight from the reporters as they struggled to voice out their questions. Jing Lihua caught the phrases.

'...is President Jing hinting at something...'

...is it silent admission that Mr. Ji indeed used this as an excuse...'

All of them wanted something spicy out of her to make a nice headline. However, their motives didn't align with Jing Lihua.

She wanted the ceremony to go on smoothly. While they wanted drama, chaos, and something exciting.

Thus, she didn't allow them the opportunity to voice out any question loud. "...because out today's event would be hosted by someone else." Jing Lihua smiled faintly before she politely wal

ked away, leaving the swarm of reporters stunned with the sudden news.

Everyone had the same idea in his head. 'Attending the event now, wouldn't that antagonize Mr. Ji? Just who in the world was willing to do that?'

Before they could initiate a second wave of attacks, a black limousine pulled out. The door opened and submerged in lights, a middle-aged figure walked out.

Once the people recognized the figure, they were tongue-tied.

"Is this...?"

"Mr. Shen. Don't tell me he is here to host the event!"

People's questions were answered when he walked straight to Jing Lihua and greeted her politely. Afterward, Jing Lihua guided him to cut the red ribbon.

"I can't believe it. J-Just how busy a man he is! And he is at least ten times more recognizable figure than Mr. Ji. If he can find time in his busy schedule to visit the event then isn't Mr. Ji looking too arrogant?"

At the particular scene, all those who had taken pleasure in Jing Lihua plight were stunned. Those who had claimed arrogantly that Tang Enterprise used Mr. Ji's name just to give hype to the event were trying to hide their faces.

Mr. Shen, the great political figure was here!

Why would Jing Lihua need to use Mr. Ji's name to give gain publicity or anything?

If anything, she hadn't tried any cheap methods to gain publicity. If she had used Mr. Shen's name, there would be thrice as many reporters as there were already!

After all the formalities, reporters were too busy to shoot Mr. Shen to spare any attention to Mr. Ji matter. A few of them tried to probe Jing Lihua but she evaded such questions by tactfully changing the subjects.

All the while, two people sitting over the couch in wait for a satisfying scene didn't get what they wanted. Instead, in front of them, Jing Lihua was being publicized even more than before. "Is this what you wanted to show me?" It was getting hard for Jing Tian to hide her frustration. His tone held an undertone of bitterness.

"What the actual f**k!" Gu Ting ended up throwing the stuff on the table. He was more enraged than Jing Tian. He had wanted to teach that vain woman a lesson. It was not for Tian'er sake but for himself. That wish originated from the depth of his heart. That arrogant vain woman deserved to be taught her place!

"How could she have arranged this? Mr. Ji clearly told me that she had invited him and he agreed because of his good relationship with the 'Gu' family. Because of her sister marrying into the family, he thought he was doing a favor on us, the 'Gu' family by agreeing with Jing Lihua! When I had made obvious that we do not share a good relationship with her, Mr. Ji offered to go back on his words."

"Maybe she contact

ed Mr. Shen at the last moment? After all, big sister is pretty powerful"

"Woman, you don't understand these thing so just shut up!"

Jing Tian was appalled. This was the first time for Gu Ting to talk to her in this tone.

Immediately, she assumed a pitiful look. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to..."

Gu Ting raked a hand through his hair, not even sparing a glance let alone pacify Jing Tian."Ms. Shen is a high profile figure. Higher than Mr. Ji. Even to have Mr. Ji attend the event, she must have asked at least a month ago to make certain he had his schedule clear. To have Mr. Shen, she would need to ask at least six months ago!"
