Chapter 9: Quan Zhisui scared Gu LAN silly

Chapter 9

After everyone else had left, Wei Shixu finally walked into the alley, chuckling softly as he looked at the five guys lying on the ground: "Got your asses handed to you by one girl, how embarrassing is that you fragile cookies?"

The five men's faces were all flushed red, but they still talked big.

"Just you wait! When Big Bro Zuo comes back you'll be sorry!"

"Big Bro Zuo won't let you off easy!"

Wei Shixu sneered, "Zuo Zichen? He wouldn't dare talk to me like that. Go ask him if you don't believe me."

The five men's expressions shifted uncertainly.

Zuo Zichen was always causing trouble at Liang Secondary School. He'd fight anyone worth knowing in grades 10, 11 and 12. Sometimes he didn't even spare the girls. Teachers didn't dare cross him either. His specialty was bullying and tormenting his fellow students through violence.

But Wei Shixu...

It was as if Zuo Zichen intentionally avoided confronting this person. He'd never clashed with Wei Shixu before.

You had to know, Wei Shixu had quite a reputation at Liang Secondary School. With his looks and grades, he was the ideal type for most of the girls there.

And Zuo Zichen's goal was to become the big boss at Liang. Could he tolerate someone above him?

The more you thought about it, the more strange it seemed!

Someone asked, "Are you here as back up for Quan Zhisui?"

With the super fighter Quan Zhisui and the mysterious Wei Shixu on her side, how could they get revenge for Zuo Zichen?

Wei Shixu lowered his eyes to look at them. The setting sun shone on him from behind, obscuring his expression in silhouette.

"No, I simply came to laugh at you."

After leaving them with those words, Wei Shixu exited the alley.

Kong Mingze had just seen the girls off. He turned around and happened to run into Wei Shixu. "Huh? Where'd you run off to?"

Wei Shixu: "Just went to have some fun."

Kong Mingze: "?"

Why did he not understand what Wei Shixu was saying?

-----------------

Quan Zhisui arrived at the Zuo residence right before dinner. Gu Lan came out to help carry her schoolbag. The chef had already prepared the evening meal.

As usual, only Quan Zhisui was eating.

"Where is everyone else?" Quan Zhisui asked.

Gu Lan's hand shook. "Young Master Zichen hurt his hand. The master and madam are at the hospital."

So Zuo Zichen was still in the hospital?

Quan Zhisui knew the deal. His hand was definitely broken, but the fracture wasn't severe enough to warrant staying overnight. Under normal circumstances, a cast would allow him to go home.

Gu Lan added, "The elder master and madam are on their way back. They should arrive in Liangxi Town around 11pm tonight."

Quan Zhisui lowered her head to eat without responding.

They'd abandoned their long lost granddaughter for 17 years, making excuses to avoid seeing her after she returned. But at news of their ruffian grandson getting injured in a fight, they rushed back home overnight. Their attitude was crystal clear.

Seeing she had no reaction, Gu Lan gently reminded her, "Young Miss Zhisui, since Young Master Zichen is injured, the family will be on edge. Please be extra careful not to displease the master and madam."

"Mm." Quan Zhisui nodded, then said, "Give me my dad's number."

She didn't even have her own biological father's contact information.

Gu Lan swiftly recited the number and urged, "When you speak to him, be a little sweeter with your words. Young Master Zichen's injury shouldn't be too severe. I heard it was from a schoolmate. Whoever hurt him is sure to suffer. The master and madam are very upset right now."

She was teaching Quan Zhisui how to gain favor since the sudden change in status meant she knew nothing about the Zuo family members' temperaments.

Quan Zhisui gave Gu Lan a look. In the end, she didn't reveal the truth.

It was her who had broken Zuo Zichen's hand.

As she ate, she called Zuo Zhiyu. When he picked up, she directly said, "Dad, give me money for living expenses. I don't have money for food at school."

Gu Lan's eyes widened in disbelief. Not only did Quan Zhisui ignore her advice and argue with her father right off the bat, she didn't even bother with small talk before hitting him up for money while he was already angry?

You have no fear at all!

Zuo Zhiyu paused for a few seconds over the phone before yelling furiously, "Your brother is lying in the hospital right now! Do you have a conscience? You shameless, unfilial girl! You don't even ask about your brother's injury and still have the audacity to ask me for money?"

Quan Zhisui: "So I should just starve at school?"

Zuo Zhiyu: "You only miss a few meals! It won't kill you to go hungry! But Zichen's hand is broken!"

Quan Zhisui: "It's just his hand that's broken. Being out of commission for a few days won't kill him either."

Zuo Zhiyu: "You!"

Quan Zhisui: "So are you giving me money or not? If not, send me back to the mountains. Don't delay me."

Zuo Zhiyu cursed some more before demanding, "Come to the hospital right now to take care of your brother!"

Quan Zhisui narrowed her eyes. "No. Please fulfill your guardian duties and give me living expenses."

Zuo Zhiyu: "I regret ever giving birth to a daughter like you!"

Quan Zhisui: "Then send me away as soon as possible. I can't wait."

She brought up being 'sent away' again, then calmly ate a piece of meat, waiting for Zuo Zhiyu's reaction.

Gu Lan beside her had already turned to stone, looking at Quan Zhisui with shocked eyes!

She's actually arguing with the master?!

Heavens!

Zuo Zhiyu fell silent for a long time over the phone. This time he didn't scold her. Instead, his tone suddenly softened. "Zhisui, your brother is injured. Dad was just angry earlier and spoke too harshly. It's wonderful you were finally able to come home. How could you leave? You're dad's own daughter!"

Quan Zhisui narrowed her eyes and swallowed the meat in her mouth. She lightly tapped her chopsticks twice.

Just what did she have that made Zuo Zhiyu so concerned about her?

Guardian...

Zuo Zhiyu was terrified of losing this guardian status.

What could that let him obtain?

Zuo Zhiyu went on trying to move her with soothing words, babbling on sentimentally.

Quan Zhisui was pondering something else the whole time, not listening at all. When her thoughts were in order, she directly interrupted him. "Mm, then give me money for living expenses. Transfer it to me now."

Gu Lan was nearly scared to fainting!

Arguing with the master was bad enough, but he finally softened his tone to speak nicely. Yet she actually dared to interrupt the master mid-sentence!

Was she not afraid of incurring his wrath again?!

But beyond Gu Lan's expectations...

Zuo Zhiyu didn't get angry. He just paused briefly before asking, "How much do you need?"

Quan Zhisui: "Ten thousand."

She didn't have a clear grasp on the Zuo family's assets, nor was she interested. She just blurted out this number after seeing the balance on Wei Shixu's meal card.

Ten thousand was enough for her to eat until graduating high school.

Zuo Zhiyu agreed on the spot. Clearly ten thousand was pocket change to him, but he was too long-winded in lecturing. He started blathering on again.

Quan Zhisui had no patience for it. She turned her phone face down on the table and resumed eating, leaving Zuo Zhiyu to prattle on by himself.

After talking for a few minutes, Zuo Zhiyu noticed something was off. His voice loudly projected from the earpiece, "Hello? Hello! Bad signal? Zhisui?? Zhisui!!"

Quan Zhisui ignored him as if she didn't hear, eating with great relish.

Soon after, the call disconnected. Before long, the ten thousand living expenses were transferred to her account.

Gu Lan beside her was stunned once more by her actions, eyes shifting from shock to fear. She clutched her heart and exclaimed she couldn't handle it.

The Zuo family's daughter was formidable!
