Chapter 26: Do You Really Think That I Can Fraternize With the Enemy?!
Best Actor Fu’s cat was really strange; it almost seemed like he was possessed.
Other pets would be angry if their owners made them wear clothes. This cat was the complete opposite. He was even rather enthusiastic about it.
Even though Fu Sichen had never owned any pets prior to this cat, he wasn’t stupid. How could he not see something fishy about the whole situation?
“Xiao Nian.” Fu Sichen briskly walked towards the bathroom. He wanted to open the door, but it was locked. “Open the door.”
A shuffling noise could be heard coming from inside the bathroom. Fu Sichen started to get impatient. He was about to get the keys to the bathroom, when the door opened.
The white Persian cat was wearing a black suit that was made for pets. But it seemed to be rather conservative – it covered most of his body.
The cat seemed to be rather happy wearing the pet suit, with his head held upright and chest puffed out. He walked out of the bathroom in an extremely elegant manner. He finally even deigned to give Fu Sichen a hint of a smile.
Of course, it was still a cold smile.
Fu Sichen was stunned.
Fu Sichen read out the words that were printed on the back of the suit, “Little Fairy…?”
“Ah ah ah…” Xiao Nian anxiously and loudly called out the moment those words escaped Fu Sichen’s mouth. “Fairy? What fairy? There’s no fairy here! You must be mistaken, Best Actor Fu…” Cough. Cough.
The Great Manager Xiao Nian had red marks all over his body. It was clearly a result of being scratched. Fu Sichen recalled the muffled mention of a “little pink dress” just now. There seemed to be something going on that he just couldn’t quite put his finger on.
Something didn’t quite add up.
Obviously afraid that Fu Sichen would start asking questions, Xiao Nian quickly buttered him up by serving breakfast, “These are Chen’s steamed dumplings… I had to queue for over two hours to get these!”
Fu Sichen didn’t really have anything that he especially craved or wanted to eat. But, he remembered that Pei Zhen had always enjoyed eating Chen’s steamed dumplings.
Xiao Nian was really quite diligent at his job.
While Fu Sichen was off thinking about something else, Xiao Nian quickly served up breakfast— a glass of hot soy milk, a dish of sauce… and he pulled out a chair for Fu Sichen to sit on.
The Persian cat jumped onto the table wearing his Little Fairy Girl suit. He felt touched after seeing the breakfast on the table, and started meowing at Xiao Nian.
Even though Pei Zhen could be a little lazy at times, but he never put on any airs. Even though he liked eating the breakfast from Chen’s, he never made Xiao Nian wait in line just to buy it.
Xiao Nian laughed heartily, “There’s no need to be so touched; I bought these last night. All I did was heat them up this morning.”
Pei Zhen and Fu Sichen stared back at him blankly.
By now, Fu Sichen had already accepted Pei Zhen’s presence on the dining table.
There was a sort of sweet and heartwarming atmosphere in the morning air. One man and one cat sat there in silence, eating face to face.
Ka-cha.
It was the sound of Xiao Nian’s cell phone camera shutter.
Both Fu Sichen and Pei Zhen turned to look at him at the same time, “What are you doing?”
“I… I was just taking a picture.” He didn’t dare to say that he was actually taking a picture of Pei Zhen. He quickly added, “Best Actor Fu, you’ve recently announced that you’re now the proud owner of a cat, right? All I’m doing is taking a picture of your day to day life.”
After saying this, Xiao Nian took a few more pictures in an effort to prove that he was a decent photographer.
Fu Sichen became quite cooperative after hearing that Xiao Nian just wanted to photograph their daily lives. He even struck a pose before adding Xiao Nian on WeChat.
Xiao Nian became both nervous and touched all at the same time.
After receiving Fu Sichen’s permission to share the photographs, he sent out the pictures without any hesitation.
It was rare for Fu Sichen have enough free time to carefully look over and pick out a few pictures. Having that to keep Fu Sichen busy, Pei Zhen and Xiao Nian finally got the chance to meet together in private.
They headed to the kitchen.
Pei Zhen angrily swiped his claw towards Xiao Nian, “What’s up with those pictures? Do you really think that I can fraternize with the enemy?”
To Xiao Nian, the swipe only felt like someone was trying to scratch an itch; it didn’t hurt at all. By now, he was really starting to feel like Pei Zhen the cat was simply too cute for words.
