Chapter 9: Big Brother, I Like You the Most
“Ahhhh!”
Pei Zhen shrieked, and his legs slipped. Losing all control, he fell into the toilet bowl.
I just peed in there!
Kill me!
Pei Zhen’s broken spirit hit an unprecedented low; he felt faint. What were the chances, really? Someone took hold of the scruff on his neck, and with a strong pull, finally lifted him out of the toilet.
Thank god!
Trembling, Pei Zhen looked back. Thoroughly soaked, he could only look at Fu Sichen with his huge round cat eyes and let out a weak meow.
“Pei Zhen?” Fu Sichen called out without thinking. Stunned by his own reaction, he covered his mouth. He carefully sized up this cat before him.
Cat. Not human.
Maybe he missed Pei Zhen too much.
Fu Sichen squeezed his fists and relaxed them again. There was suspicion in his eyes. “Are you done?” He finally said.
Pei Zhen kept his silence.
You didn’t really think cats could understand human language, did you? What made you so sure?!
Having said that, Pei Zhen responded with a meow.
Fu Sichen raised his sword-like eyebrows for a moment. Without another word, he took the cat into the living room.
The cage door was open. Even though the latch wasn’t completely secure, it would still have been difficult for an animal to pry open.
Fu Sichen examined the closure mechanism and looked at the cat. His inquiring look sent a shiver up Pei Zhen’s spine. He struggled to free himself from Fu Sichen’s grip, and with a swish, escaped back into the cage.
What next?
Should he act coy, or try to act cute?
Pei Zhen bent his hind legs and laid his body down, with his paws lightly resting on Fu Sichen’s lap. Then, in the most pleasing manner he could muster, he meowed at him twice.
This was stooping to a whole new low!
Pei Zhen felt totally stripped of his ego. But, after seeing Fu Sichen’s gentle gaze, he felt encouraged enough to swing his tail back and forth.
“Good boy.” As though he had just experienced a joyous event, Fu Sichen finally gave a slight smile. “Meow for me again.”
Pei Zhen retracted his claws immediately. He really just couldn’t stand how smug this guy was.
He was so annoying!
He was so annoying that he remembered his school days all over again.
Fifteen, sixteen year-olds were curious about everything. They wanted to fly before they could even walk.
In the early 2000s, DVD players were in vogue, and they weren’t cheap.
Remembering it now, Pei Zhen couldn’t help but feel annoyed with himself for impulsively buying a DVD player.
At that time, he was still in junior high. He had just started taking Physics classes. Feeling overly confident after just having taken three practical classes, he got home and took apart his DVD player.
After dismantling the machine, he was stunned. Looking at the complicated electrical circuits, he realized that he had no idea how to put them back together.
So what happened in the end?
Little Brat Pei Zhen had to put aside his ego to plead with the genius in the class next door.
Handsome Genius Fu Sichen.
Even though they were clearly wearing the same black and white uniform, Fu Sichen would always manage to look like a handsome prince while wearing it. Granted, he wasn’t half as kind as he was good-looking. To make fun of Pei Zhen, he made Pei Zhen call him “big brother” a couple of times.
“Big Brother, please help me.”
“Big Brother, you’re the best.”
“Big Brother, I like you the most.”
This was all so that Pei Zhen’s father wouldn’t find out what the Little Brat Pei had done. Pei Zhen had to say all of these humiliating things to his sworn enemy. This included his first love confession.
Damn “I like you!” Damn “Big Brother!”
Fu Sichen was definitely the most hateful person in the world!
Pei Zhen stared at the man before him, new and old hatred all rolled into one. He felt his blood boil. Then, in an explosion of anger, he viciously swung his claws twice at Best Actor Fu!
