Chapter 157: Pyramid Of Dominion! (10)
Creed stood tall, his chest heaving up and down like a war drum, spear gripped tightly in his bruised hand.
Beside him, Lilith and Tierra mirrored his exhaustion, their battle-worn bodies stained with blood, dirt, and the strange black mist that the Arena Lord had unleashed.
The monstrous figure they had just defeated, that nightmare of steel and hatred, lay crumpled before them, its massive frame already starting to disintegrate into glittering, ash-like particles.
It would have almost looked peaceful... if their hearts weren’t still hammering in their chests like they had just outrun death itself.
Creed’s frown deepened, heavy and sharp, casting a deep shadow across his face.
Victory should have tasted sweet. It should have filled his soul with triumph and pride. But instead? It left a bitter, grinding taste in the back of his throat.
Because deep down, he knew this had been far harder than it should have ever been.
This was supposed to be an entrance trial!
It was merely an exam to determine who would join the elite class of the Ambassadors Academy. An entrance exam!
And yet here he was, standing over a creature that fought like it wanted to erase his very existence.
Creed clenched his teeth, his mind already running through sharp, lightning-quick deductions. The Arena Lord hadn’t been ordinary. No way.
In fact, he was almost certain, no, he was absolutely sure that during the peak of their battle, when the Arena Lord unleashed its black storm and broke space itself, its combat power had skyrocketed to the level of a Stage 5 Silver level being!
That was absolutely insane!
Stage. Five. Silver. Creed nearly laughed out loud. Was this supposed to be "reasonable difficulty"?!
If this was their idea of an exam, he would hate to see what the real fights in the Academy would look like!
A cold, analytical gleam lit up his eyes. No, this wasn’t normal at all.
The examiners had definitely tampered with the Arena Lord’s power, boosting its strength during the later stages of the fight.
Maybe they wanted to see if he would crack under pressure. Maybe they wanted to force him into near-death situations to find the true depth of his strength.
Whatever the reason was, Creed didn’t care. They wanted a monster? Fine. He would become the greatest monster of them all.
Because despite everything; the traps, the overwhelming strength, the never-ending waves of knight guards, he had stood his ground, dug his heels in, and crushed the Arena Lord into dust.
And that wasn’t even the best part.
During the furious battle, in the middle of dodging death and counterattacking with blood-boiling speed, Creed had felt it.
A faint, but clear glimpse; an insight into something far greater. An art!
It was like a fire had been lit in the depths of his soul, a whispering call to forge his own legend. His fingers twitched slightly with excitement.
Once he left this trial, he couldn’t wait to begin comprehending this embryonic art using Primordial Essence.
That would boost his understanding and strength at an even more terrifying speed, allowing him to climb higher, faster, stronger than ever before.
And then, just as the last of the Arena Lord’s particles faded into the air, it appeared.
A dazzling black and blood-red key materialized from the mist, floating gently before Creed like some holy artifact.
It was absolutely breathtaking. The blood-red veins pulsing across the black metal shimmered with dangerous power, and Creed could feel the authority pouring from it like invisible waves. novelbuddy.cσ๓
He stepped forward with a deep sigh, reaching out and wrapping his fingers around it. It was cool to the touch, but in his palm, it felt like he was gripping the reins of fate itself.
The Floor Control Key.
This was what he had fought so hard for. This key would be crucial once he reached the Apex Floor, the top of the Pyramid of Dominion.
With it, he would have the authority to claim dominion over the arena, sit upon the throne, and control the countless guardians that roamed the floors.
And more importantly, he would be able to defend himself against the other eleven candidates who would reach the Apex.
Creed wasn’t stupid. He knew full well that Lilith and Tierra, as powerful as they were, might not be enough to protect him against an entire floor of elite enemies.
Not without help. And now, with this key, he had that help secured.
A fortress of guardians, armies of monsters at his command, all it would take was getting there. And Creed wasn’t planning to lose.
Turning, he faced his two loyal companions.
Despite the exhaustion carved into every line of their bodies, Lilith and Tierra stood proudly, their weapons still firm in hand, their eyes blazing with stubborn light.
Creed smiled a rare, genuine smile and gave a low, appreciative nod.
"You two did amazing," he said, voice rough with lingering adrenaline.
Lilith’s cheeks instantly flushed, her usual haughty demeanor now replaced with a happy one.
Tierra ducked her head slightly, fiddling with a loose strand of her hair. It was almost too adorable.
Without a word, they shimmered and disappeared into the tattoo etched onto Creed’s chest.
It was their personal space where they could heal faster, rest properly, and regain their strength.
Creed’s chest warmed slightly at the feeling of their presence inside him. He was truly grateful for them. He wouldn’t have made it here without their selfless help.
He turned away, running a hand through his sweat-soaked hair, and started toward the shattered entrance of the battlefield.
As he stepped out into the broken hallway beyond, the first thing he saw was Emerald, standing with arms crossed, glaring at him like he had personally kicked her puppy.
Her emerald-green eyes burned with a mixture of frustration, awe, and something that might have been a grudging respect.
Her pout only made her look even more unfairly beautiful, like some fierce spirit of the night sulking because her prank had been outsmarted.
Creed stared at her for a long moment, then promptly ignored her with the kind of casual dismissal that could only come from someone who had just killed a semi-invincible monster.
"Lead me to the gate to the next floor," he said coolly, striding past her without even glancing back. "Our contract ends there."
Emerald made a tiny noise like a half-growl and a half-sigh and stomped after him, her shadowy form rippling like smoke under her feet.
It was time to advance to the next floors! Creed was catching up!
