Chapter 4469 - Revised: Chapter 3353 Cat and Dog Research (64)
"This..."
This plan sounds rather satisfying, but Ron has to admit, he doesn't feel any relief at this moment—only a sense of creeping horror.
It's like: you can come up with such a plan and put it into practice, now it seems like my brother and I's grudges shouldn't be the main concern.
Ron's attitude towards Malafax isn't actually complicated. Towards someone who has exterminated his race and family, he surely harbors only hatred.
Charles' proposed plan indeed lets him vent his anger. But people live not just for hatred; there's also the present and future life to consider. Creating two Martian Manhunters sounds great, but in reality, there would be many problems.
How should Ron now deal with his mortal enemy? If he continues to hate him like before, but the other becomes a Justice Messenger; if he forgives and works with him, Ron asks himself if he can truly do so.
So he feels that making Malafax deeply understand his own pain would be the best punishment; yet if Malafax truly changes for the better, Ron feels he wouldn't know how to face him.
Rather than agonizing over it himself, better to pass the problem to someone else. Anyway, the Martian race is gone, Malafax is just Earth's criminal now for his crimes on Earth, so let Earthlings deal with him.
The Justice League. Yes, Ron immediately turns his gaze towards the Justice League. He needs the Justice League to find a just reason to fiercely rebut this not-so-just plan, so he can persuade himself to reject Charles' proposal.
However, looking around, all the Justice League members were cursing that guy named Bruce.
Eventually, Oliver called everyone together. The group went to the meeting room to discuss Malafax's disposal plan. The other two teams, Batman and Superman, also attended.
Just not sure why, Injustice Batman kept staring at Injustice Superman. As soon as Ron focused on these two peculiar individuals, their tangled grudges made him feel brain-numbing.
He started to lose hope in the Justice League.
Although it was an impromptu meeting, Oliver still led everyone in expressing welcome to Ron. Ron felt a bit flattered, expecting to face an interrogation instead.
Even though the Justice League wanted to invite him to join, his compatriot and younger brother Malafax caused such trouble, surely there would be basic investigations. But their kindness was unexpected, which slightly reassured Ron.
But his reassurance was premature.
The upcoming meeting content was about investigating Malafax's crimes since arriving on Earth. Since Ron already looked through Malafax's memories, he truthfully reported on behalf of the unconscious Malafax.
First, he spoke about matters in Metropolis, then Gotham. Ultimately he said, "Malafax kidnapped a professor significant to you all, locking him in an abandoned factory in Gotham outskirts. That's where he learned the secrets of Gotham Inside World..."
"Wait." Oliver interrupted, "A professor significant to us? What's his name?"
"Jonathan Crane."
Lex almost couldn't hold back his laughter. He struggled to keep a straight face, then said, "Oh yes, quite important indeed."
Everyone present was smart enough to instantly realize the trick Shiller was playing. Though they all understood, none of them voiced it.
"We'll send someone to rescue him," Oliver said, "Now let's talk about you and your brother. We've learned from the Special Agent Organization about the tragedy on Mars, and we deeply regret it."
"He's your tribesman, defeated by you. Logically, you should dispose of him. But considering his crimes on Earth, I believe we have the right to seek accountability."
Ron cleared his throat and said, "I think the same. I'm ready to hand him over to you for disposal. Just now... Mr. Xavier proposed a plan to me..."
Ron's face almost shouted, "Listen to this evil plan, wouldn't rejecting it show you're the Justice League?"
In response, Oliver exchanged a few words with Lex on the left, then a few with Hal on the right. After much murmuring, Oliver finally nodded and said, "We think the idea is good, let's proceed with it."

A question mark slowly emerged in Ron's mind. He stared at Oliver and asked, "Are you serious?"
"I believe it's beneficial," Oliver responded, "Of course, we completely understand your feelings. So you can work separately, one in Battleworld, one on Earth. Without encountering each other, there's no issue."
"Battleworld?" Ron repeated the word. It felt familiar to him but he couldn't instantly recall where he had seen it.
After pondering for a while, he finally found a small fragment in the depths of his memory.
Seemingly on bill day, he retrieved the bill from the mailbox, finding a peculiar-looking invitation amid the pile of bills. It probably mentioned something about Battleworld.
But he considered it junk mail at the time, casually tossing it aside without a thorough look.
Still reminiscing, another document package arrived. Ron turned to see Charles looking at him.
Ron carefully read the package's content, feeling as if he had opened the door to a new world.
Meanwhile, Oliver received a text from Shiller explaining how Malafax had replaced Ron to enter Battleworld.
Upon learning the truth, Ron went silent. Truly, staying too long on Earth, being a cop long enough, he almost forgot there's another world beyond the ordinary world.
Realizing that Malafax had been causing trouble for so long without being caught, possibly due to his own carelessness in throwing the invitations around, Ron could only sigh and choose to agree to Charles's plan.
"Don't worry," Oliver said. "We have a magical defense network. As long as he can't open a teleportation portal, there's no way he can come back. Just pretend he doesn't exist."
At this point, Ron had nothing more to say. He nodded, then remembered something and said, "That Mr. Rodriguez who came to find me said you wanted me to join the Justice League."
Oliver nodded and said, "Yes, we also realized that we significantly lack experience in dealing with mind power users and we are short of a good hand in this aspect..."
Ron couldn't help but look at Charles, but thinking of Charles's devilish whispers, he felt that it was right for the Justice League not to rely on him.
"Mr. Ron Ronz, now, on behalf of the Justice League, I officially invite you to join. Would you like to?"
Ron didn't hesitate much and nodded. But he still said, "If there's trouble, I'll certainly do my best, but I still want to find a job, like being a police officer or something. I can't stay at your headquarters doing nothing every day."
"Oh, of course," Oliver said. "Except for Bruce, everyone here has their own job. You can think of the Justice League as an amateur hobby club. We only assemble when necessary."
Ron asked curiously, "What jobs do you all do?"
"Luther needs no introduction, he's the head of Luther Group and is the busiest among us. Hal is the same, working at the Green Lantern Corps Headquarters."
"Arthur is the new night watchman at the Port of Mercy, working at the lighthouse, occasionally going to Atlantis to handle governmental affairs. Pamela is a botanist, spending most of her time experimenting."
"Clark is a reporter, Diana is the Amazon Princess and a diplomatic representative, also an art and collectibles critic."
"Barry is still in school, he said he wants to work in the forensic department of the Gotham Police Department after graduation. Harley is the founder of the hottest beverage brand recently, developing new flavors."
"Zatanna and John run a bookstore, Zatanna performs street magic, and John writes books."
"As for me, I'm working on some theories and might write a book, but that could take a few years."
Ron breathed a sigh of relief. He was really afraid that the Justice League was all about people standing around in uniforms, discussing the future of Earth 24/7. Having been accustomed to an ordinary life on Earth, Ron couldn't live that kind of life anymore.
But actually, the Justice League in other universes was not like this either. The key point was that over there, Earth was almost unprotected, and any random cat or dog could come and mess things up.
As soon as something happened, the superheroes had to step in. But Earth was in trouble every day, so they had no choice but to stay in uniform, fighting one battle after another, 24/7 without rest.
The reason why the Justice League in this universe could be so leisurely was that the Green Lantern Corps filtered out the first wave of enemies, and the magical defense network filtered out the second wave. Those well-known villains in the comics couldn't even touch the edge of Earth.
Relatively speaking, the universe they were in was very peaceful, so naturally, there was no need to always gather together, and they all lived their own lives.
"How many years of police experience do you have? What's the highest rank you've achieved? I think I can introduce you to a job at the Metropolitan Police Department." Lex looked at Ron and said, "But you might need to learn some Russian to communicate with your colleagues."
"I've been a police officer for over 20 years, reached the rank of sergeant long ago. If it weren't for my unwillingness to move, I'd probably have become the chief now... Wait, Russian?"
"Alright." Oliver interrupted him and then said, "We caught a major culprit and gained a new partner, this is certainly worth celebrating. How about a party tonight?"
Everyone immediately cheered. Even Lex rarely smiled. Then Oliver turned to Bruce and said, "You caused such a big mess, so you're in charge of all the party drinks. Finish it by nightfall, okay?"
"Leave it to me!" Bruce gave him a thumbs up.
Before the other superheroes and Batman could say anything more, the members of this universe's Justice League scattered again.
Batman hesitated for a moment and then whispered, "Do you think they remember there's still an alien out there uncaptured?"
"I guess they forgot." Superman said, "But it's also strange, Zod hasn't made any noise since the last time he caused trouble. Where is he?"
Batman shook his head, indicating he didn't know either. Then he looked at Injustice Batman and Injustice Superman and said in a low voice, "Look at those two, they're so weird."
"Yeah, Superman used to stare at Batman all the time, now it's the other way around. These two madmen make no sense."
"Forget it, don't mind them, we have a party to prepare for. I think we can help with making the vegetable salad..."
"No way, don't even think about getting into the kitchen..."
After the meeting, Lex and Bruce walked out shoulder to shoulder. Bruce's phone beeped with a message.
"Transaction complete, thanks." Bruce looked at the message and then shook his head and sighed, "When I was rebuilding Gotham, why didn't any aliens invade Earth back then?"
"Metropolis and Gotham are different, when our buildings collapse, nothing strange pops out." Lex said, looking ahead with an emotionless face.
"Tsk tsk, when people don't cooperate with your urban planning, you let aliens forcefully demolish them? You're too ruthless, Mr. Luthor."
"Likewise, Mr. Wayne."
