Leonhardt watched the elves complete his request in less than an hour. They rained accurate and deadly arrows on the wolves before rapidly collecting their arrows. To Leon's surprise, the dark elves seemed skilled in butchery, skinning and removing all tracks.

'Amazing.'

His Mana started to decrease after excessive use of his Arachne Vision to observe the women. He didn't realise how lucky this choice was, gaining various abilities which might help in future battles.

Stealth and Archery were vital skills, but the most important skills that he gained were learning the dismantle skill which mixed butchery, skinning and dealing with the monster corpses.

'Monsters born outside a dungeon don't disappear when they die.'

So he asked a question, trying to get some information.

"What was the powder you used on the corpses?"

"It's corpse powder."

"What is corpse powder for?"

Nyxara seemed to be a little Stoic after the battle, but he found it amazing she came straight to him after battle. She looked at Leon and lifted her pouch, then opened it close to his face, before a smokey, ash scent filled his nose.

"It's a special dark elf recipe to help remove blood and monster remains, to stop tracking and avoid dangerous predators being attracted."

"Hm? But won't this stop the wolf from realising something happened?"

The moment Leon asked, Nyxara's eyes opened, and she showed a bright smile, almost as if this were her aim and goal.

"Master, I have sent two scouts with the last corpse, and remnants of other wolves and will spread them to the east since you seemed to wish for us to cause trouble. It would be best for the monsters in this forest to clash together."

Leon noticed her excitement from her heavy breaths and the slight red hue on her cheeks, but it wasn't normal. He noticed from the start that the goodwill from Nyxara was nothing like the pleasant smile from Chloe in the village.

Rather—it was sickly, heavy, thick, and dangerous.

"Is it difficult to make this corpse powder?"

Nyxara suddenly pulled back, her eyes scanning Leonhardt's face before she smirked.

"I cannot tell you how to make it, but if Master wants some, Nyxara will provide it."

'Maybe it's an important Dark Elf tradition or item.'

[This crazy woman makes me feel sick. Hurry and send her away!]

"That would be great, what do you want in return?"

Leon didn't want to abuse her goodwill, for fear it might twist into something else. The blurred face of his creator in his fractured memories reminded him of Nyxara's.

"Well~ I will think about it, Master."

"Understood, then we should head back to the village before I return?"

"Return?!" Nyxara's voice became strange.

[See!]

'I know Ifrit, but she won't betray me, her loyalty is 160!'

"Don't be so worried. It's because I have something to finish in the village, regarding the alpha wolf to the south. When I have time, I'll visit the village."

He felt that her atmosphere changed when he mentioned his departure.

Nyxara's gaze turned dark and deep. Leon's back tingled as she lowered her head, covering her eyes with her hair.

She remained silent for several long breaths before finally raising her head, an almost wicked smirk covering her mouth.

"Is that so? Master has to return? Maybe I can send someone back to assist, to ensure his safety."

"Not right now, I have something I need to do alone, but..."

With each word, his spine became colder, as if a dagger was placed against his flesh. Nyxara's fingers tightened, grasping his arm, causing his skin to become pale. "But?" Her whisper made him stop before her emerald locked with his.

"I will allow it in the future, give me some time and you can join me. First focus on the southern wolves and thin out the other monsters for me, okay?" Leon gave a faint smile while winking at Nyxara, who froze once again.

This time, however, her atmosphere transformed, the sickening thick pressure disappearing.

Instead, Nyxara let go of Leon and hid her face before bowing. Leon was confused by this but relieved he avoided something catastrophic. He could hear her whistling happily as she hopped into the trees and vanished towards the other dark elves.

[Finally... she's gone.]

"Oh?" Leon exclaimed as he found a large pouch of the corpse powder in his pocket, "Hm?" but he also noticed the package was a little moist...

"I don't even want to know."

"Phew, then, shall we head back to the village and see what those three slaves are doing?"

[Make sure the girls don't hear you calling them that.]

'Hahaha!'

Leon didn't return to the forest or sanctuary and headed east towards the village. Thanks to the dark elves, he received some remains to prove what he did all day. To avoid any doubts from the guards and villagers.

'The meat is well cut, though wolf meat usually smells bad, it seems they've rubbed it with some kind of herb.'

He noticed that when they handed him the meat—it was slightly discoloured, with a dull purple leaf pressed into the soft flesh. Leon asked Nyxara, but she just smiled and narrowed her eyes. The other elves also acted strangely when they noticed he had taken the meat.

"Ifrit do you know anything about this meat or herb?"

Leon didn't care because when he checked the meat, its gamey and earthy scent faded, becoming a meaty scent with a smooth aroma.

[I don't know, it seems like a normal flower... but those obscene dark elves cannot be trusted.]

"Forget it."

Her jealousy and dislike of dark elves from Ifrit made him want to avoid the subject because she was important to him. Although he tried to be fair, right now, the dark elves weren't as significant as Ifrit in his heart.

[Hmph!]

Leon turned his senses inward.

He thought the number of skills he gained from Nyxara was impressive, but to improve them, he needed to keep using them.

So from the moment he gained the Scouting and Stealth skills, Leon used them constantly while walking through the forest, or standing alone.

'Though I am not sure Stealth at level 1 would do much.'

He noticed it seemed to limit his scent and sound, but not the visibility of his body in the light. Only when he stepped into a shadow did he sense a chance in his atmosphere.

'Hm, maybe stealth level one only allows you to decrease visibility in a dark area or shadow.'

'Perhaps the other levels might grant a camouflage ability or let me blend in better, allowing me to mask my sounds and scent in the open.'

Meanwhile, scouting allowed him to sense the vague position of creatures around his body within a 20 ft (6.1 metres).

"Not only that, but my vision seems a little stronger, I can see further than before."

Though only a slight increase, this allowed Leon to see 140ft (42.67 metres) long in extreme detail, able to see the small motes of Mana in the air and even spores from the flowers.

'Thankfully it doesn't use Mana either.'

However, when he tried to fuse the Arachne Vision and this new sight, he almost vomited because his sight became too intense, and the world started to spin.

"Phew... I need to practise using both." Leon muttered to himself as the village came into view, but the men guarding were neither the old man nor the guard that Leon recognised.

'Let's hope for no trouble.'

[Hehe~ When did you ever get lucky? That person is looking at you like his enemy!]

"Haa..."

With a sigh, Leonhardt approached the gate, noticing Asuka standing close to the entrance, her eyes lighting up when she saw him.
