Chapter 846: Picking Up Water Lilies
"Pass down my order: without my permission, no one is allowed to cause trouble for the prisoners in the dungeon, not even my royal father. Also, you all, go investigate that person named Shenlian Yingyue. I want to know everything about that bold woman," he commanded with a sly smile.
Everyone shuddered at his words. Their prince feared no one, not even their terrifying lord, his royal father.
Yet, they were disdainful that such a weak woman dared to challenge their prince. She was courting death!
Forget five years, even five hundred years, no one from those low-level realms could possibly rise from True Immortal to Golden Immortal. And even if she somehow became a Golden Immortal in five years, what then?
By that time, their prince would have grown a hundred times stronger.
"Prince, what should we do with the twenty people who failed their mission?"
"What else did they confess?" the prince asked.
"They confessed nothing aside from what they encountered in that illusionary formation, being tortured by that woman and Xiong Zi Ying. Other than that, they remember nothing."
"Send them to the Punishment Hall. Our clan has no place for useless people. As for Xiong Zi Ying, leave him alone for now. I can wait for years. Five more years is nothing."
With that, he turned and flew deeper into the Sacred Land. "Don’t follow me," he added.
"But, Prince, going there alone is dangerous, even with your current strength..."
The speaker abruptly stopped, swallowing hard as a chill ran down their spine. One glance from the prince was enough to silence them.
His figure soon disappeared from sight.
Whenever he trained, he never needed anyone, not his subordinates, not even his own relatives. Every time he returned from those hellish places, his power became even more terrifying.
"Where is my royal brother?"
As soon as he vanished, a slender figure appeared. Though she was a princess, her strength was no weaker than his.
"Princess, the prince went that way," the subordinates replied, bowing as they pointed in his direction.
"I’m going after him," she declared, excitement flashing in her eyes.
But just as she moved, a hand stopped her.
She was about to lose her temper when she met a pair of cold, abyss-like eyes, "The prince has given his order, no one is to follow him. If you insist, bear the consequences yourself."
Her steps halted slightly. She clenched her fists tightly.
Somewhere Else...
"Senior, what do you want from me? I have nothing that should interest you," Shenlian Yingyue asked helplessly. The ordinary-looking woman had been following her for almost an entire day.
"I just want to see how you grow. You intrigue me. You’re strange, full of endless wonders," the woman replied with a sly smile.
Shenlian Yingyue’s lips twitched at the woman’s persistence.
It had happened like this:
A few hours ago, her master had taken out a map, a map of the Abyssal Throne Ruins.
She had asked him why he hadn’t used it earlier if he had it all along. His response?
"I forgot."
Everyone had been speechless.
Yes, he had obtained the map from one of the inheritance chambers, along with some hidden treasures. But at the time, he had been severely injured from the trial, and when the Shenlian Clan attacked and chased him, he had hidden the map and forgotten about it.
Now that he remembered, they had followed the mapped path leading out of the Abyssal Throne Ruins. But halfway through, they had been separated.
She had only crouched near a lake, drawn to it by some strange power.
The lake was a pale purple, pure and glittering like amethyst crystals. She had cautiously scanned her surroundings, wary of any dangers.
She swore she had never let down her guard. She hadn’t even used her divine sense to detect her surroundings. But the moment she looked up,
Everyone was gone.
And standing behind her was this woman, smiling slyly.
Shenlian Yingyue had tensed. "Senior, you’re still here?"
"This is my home. Where else would I go?" the woman replied, her smile cunning.
Shenlian Yingyue: "..."
She immediately suspected that this ’senior’ was either a demonic beast or a demon. After all, no ordinary human or creature would dare to roam here alone.
Still, sensing no malice from the woman, she decided to listen to what she had to say.
"Since you’re here, why not help me collect some water from this lake? See those crystal lilies floating over there? Bring them to me," the woman said, handing her a small crystal bottle.
This crystal bottle was a storage bottle, it could hold vast amounts of water without ever filling up, even if it contained half the lake.
"Senior, how much water and how many lilies do you need?" She wasn’t in a hurry to reunite with her companions. She had a feeling she was trapped here with this senior anyway.
She trusted in their strength. All she had to do now was find a way to free herself from this place.
"Just half the lake’s water will be enough. As for the Crystal Water Lilies, I need one thousand," the woman said, counting on her fingers.
Noticing Shenlian Yingyue’s doubtful expression, the woman added, "I love flowers. They’re useful for alchemy. I was injured in a battle earlier, and I can’t use much spiritual power right now. Without it, I can’t fly to pick the flowers. And since I don’t know what kind of lake this is, I’d rather not risk my life swimming in unknown waters. Who knows? There might be invisible beasts lurking below, waiting to swallow me whole."
Shenlian Yingyue’s eyelids twitched, but she still nodded. She had noticed the woman’s weak breathing and, for some reason, liked her.
Ten Hours Later
Shenlian Yingyue was still carefully collecting the Crystal Water Lilies.
The flowers were extremely fragile, any forceful attempt to pluck them would destroy them instantly.
The woman, meanwhile, was stunned.
This girl, why is she so devoted to helping me?
"Little girl, why are you so dedicated to helping me?" she finally asked.
"The senior needs help, so I help," Shenlian Yingyue replied simply.
Short, but meaningful.
The woman frowned. "Do you help everyone who asks? Are you really so idle that you have nothing better to do? I have my own hands and feet. Even if I’m injured, I’m not crippled."
She almost went mad. Why is this girl so stupid yet so kind? Who in the world is like her? Why does she let others use her so easily?
Shenlian Yingyue, however, only smiled. She could sense the woman’s good intentions behind her sharp words, hidden advice concealed beneath irritation.
Some people didn’t need to say sweet words to show they cared.
