Chapter 873: Practicing Divine Power
"Father, I promise you!" She nodded firmly. "I forgot to tell you, I’ve met Uncle Shan. He’s living with my brother and me." Her smile never faded, as if meeting her father was the best thing that had happened to her today.
"Sheshan is with you, I see. It seems that some fates are unavoidable, a blessing and a disaster," he muttered.
"Father, what did you say?" she asked in confusion.
"Nothing, Yue’er. Don’t try to find me. When you’re powerful enough, you can come to me."
Once again, he warned her.
He longed to find her, but he couldn’t show himself. His enemies were too powerful. No matter how many he killed, more continued to appear.
He didn’t want to drag her into his struggles. He couldn’t allow his enemies to discover her whereabouts.
Shenlian Yingyue’s eyes reddened. She understood why her father insisted that she not seek him out and why he refused to come to her.
"If you haven’t reached the Primordial Immortal realm, don’t reveal to anyone that you’re my daughter. I’ve already warned Zhu’er about this. He is receiving his inheritance from me in another dimension, just as you are now, Yue’er." His tone was serious.
She wasn’t surprised that her brother, Shenlian Yinzhu, was also receiving an inheritance from their father.
"Primordial Immortal..." Her eyes deepened with resolve.
"Father, I already know there are traitors in our clan. Those who harmed us, I won’t let them go." Her black eyes changed to their true color, revealing her emotions.
"Don’t rush into revenge. Be patient. Our grudges, we will settle them together. You have me, your brother, and your partners. We are all your family, and we will face everything together." His voice was filled with concern, as though he feared she would forget his words.
Father and daughter talked for a long time.
Because his time was limited, she could only briefly tell him about some of her experiences and encounters so that he could get to know her journey better.
"Yue’er, I will teach you a method to practice divine power. Only the chosen descendants of the Shenlian Clan are entitled to cultivate this technique. This power will allow you to defy destiny and the heavens and conceal your identity as the ’antagonist’ that the heavens seek to erase."
"However, you must be careful when using it. If those beings from above sense this power, they will uncover your identity. For now, they don’t know you are from the Shenlian Clan." He placed his palms on her shoulders, as if wanting her to feel his energy.
"This power is formidable. Watch carefully." With a flick of his finger, a tiny golden-red light appeared.
The energy it emitted was pure, yet also carried an eerie, almost sinister aura.
He threw it into the distance. Instantly, the entire vast dimension changed color due to the sheer destructive force of the light.
Her jaw dropped. "What the—!!!"
"Yue’er, aren’t you curious why this power is both pure and evil?" He didn’t notice anything unusual about her reaction, except for the deep admiration and devotion she held for him.
"I am curious, Father." Her expression turned serious.
"If I told you this power belonged to those who walk both the light and dark paths, would you hate me, Yue’er?" He was truly afraid that she would see him as a devil.
"Why would I hate you, Father? Good and evil, they don’t truly exist. What humans perceive as good or evil is often limited by their own understanding. Sometimes, things far beyond their knowledge are feared and labeled as evil. To me, as long as we don’t use this power to do evil or harm the innocent, then it isn’t evil." She shook her head, her voice soft yet resolute.
"On the contrary, those who wield so-called ’pure’ power to hurt others under the guise of righteousness, while hiding their malice, are the ones who are truly evil," she said.
The man’s expression softened. "My dear, you are very wise. With your insight and understanding, I can rest assured. Someone like you deserves to learn this power more than anyone else."
His tone was serious, yet there was admiration in his gaze.
If those who knew him saw the look in his eyes now, they would be shocked.
This man, who had never shown admiration for anyone, now regarded his daughter with deep respect.
Shenlian Yingyue had lost track of time. She wanted to cherish every moment with her father. She wanted to learn everything he had to teach her. She focused entirely on her training.
But time was limited. No matter how powerful his remnant was, it had its restrictions.
In his heart, his daughter, who walked the path of both light and darkness, embracing both good and evil, was like a Twilight Seeker.
(A poetic term for one who moves between the realms of light and shadow.)
The more he taught her, the more he realized the depth of her knowledge.
She might not be the smartest or the strongest, but she possessed a mindset that few could ever achieve.
This day, she sat cross-legged on a floating silver lotus as it bloomed beneath her. Her expression was solemn and serene.
She saw endless space. Endless universes. Infinite galaxies. Trillions of shifting lights and blurry paths. Golden and dark energy gathered around her, soon absorbed into her body.
Her lips moved, chanting an ancient language, its meaning impossible to decipher. With every word, her aura grew stronger.
The man watched her with devotion and warmth. If there was a way to measure love, his love for her was beyond any description. He was like her shadow, guarding her path, past, present, and future.
"Father, I succeeded!" Her eyes suddenly opened.
Dark carmine and deep purple irises gleamed, breathtaking in their intensity.
For a brief moment, an image of a mandala lotus flashed in her pupils. Her long white hair cascaded down her back like flowing moonlight.
Had she examined herself at that moment, she would have noticed a mysterious golden-black tattoo appearing on her back, extending to her neck and cheek.
Her father saw it. His eyes flickered with an unknown emotion. He smiled, "Your bloodline has awakened another step. It won’t be long before you say goodbye to your human identity."
"Father, what do you mean?" She was stunned.
"When I sent you to that low-level planet, there was an accident. Your soul was separated and left incomplete. Because of that, an evil spirit took advantage of your body, tainting it, using it for its own purposes."
"The evil spirit’s blood stained your pure lineage and nearly ruined the sacred blood flowing within you. It absorbed your luck and used your body to nourish its spirit. This caused your body to resemble that of a human." His eyes flashed with murderous intent. Once he found that evil spirit, he would ensure it paid for corrupting his daughter’s bloodline.
"Now, I have taught you this divine power for two reasons: First, to change your destiny and protect you from those who come from above. Second, to awaken your true bloodline, to purify the remnants of that evil spirit’s aura."
"So, Father, are you saying that I was never human to begin with?" She tilted her head in curiosity.
"You are not of the human race. Neither am I, nor is your brother." His tone was mysterious, making her doubt even more about her true origins.
She had always suspected she wasn’t human, but she had never been certain.
Now, she gazed at her own white hair, silky like threads of moonlight. Occasionally, faint golden highlights shimmered through it.
