Ivy kept pacing back and forth in the hall as she waited for her father to come out of his room. Their plan had taken a detour and since Jared already knew everything about them as well as their plans, there was no need for them to hide anymore.
However, this made things all the more difficult. While they were out in the open, Jared was hiding somewhere, and considering how much destruction they had brought to him and his ambitions, he would definitely retaliate soon.
"Stop pacing around like a hungry tiger, Ivy. You are only exhausting your energy." Oliver commented as he dropped his files on the counter before he started to prepare a cup of coffee for himself.
"Daaaad.." Ivy drawled and fidgeted her shirt in worry. "Do you have to start your work today? Can't it wait for a few days?"
"Not at all." Oliver shook his head and poured himself a cup of coffee. "Do you want some?"
Ivy shook her head as she stared at her father, waiting for his reply.
"I have rested enough, Ivy. It is time I return to the limelight and get some work done."
"But..."
"If you are worried about me, please don't. I'm sure I can handle myself and I don't think Jared will do anything to me considering the people I have protecting me."
"Fine, but be careful." Ivy relented finally and her shoulders drooped in defeat. Anyway, it was impossible for her father to change his mind once he made a decision.
"I will, dear. I will." Oliver winked at her and Ivy shook her head helplessly. "Where is Aria?" He mused and looked at the closed door to his daughters' room.
"She is still out. She returned home early morning and will not be waking up anytime soon." Ivy sighed and Oliver nodded thoughtfully.
Ivy's phone dinged at that moment and she pursed her lips. "Joshua's here. He'll be taking us to the office today."
"Alright." Oliver nodded and picked up the files again as the father and the daughter duo made their way toward the elevator after making sure that the house was locked.
"There comes my..." Joshua stopped himself in the nick of time before he blabbered out any nonsense in front of his father-in-law. He was so engrossed in watching Ivy that he entirely missed the man behind her. It was only when Ivy dodged his hug that he noticed Oliver.
"Dad, Ivy." He changed his words and greeted the two and fortunately for him, Oliver was lost in his thoughts to notice his actions.
Ivy glared at him silently and Joshua shook his head in despair when she did not greet him back.
'You could have at least hugged me.' He complained as he made puppy eyes at her, only to fail miserably.
Ivy did not give him another look and took the back seat while Oliver sat beside her, leaving Joshua all alone.
'How heartless. I'll take care of you when we are alone.' He pouted and took the shotgun, with Kaito being his driver for the day.
"The world will be shocked today." Joshua being the chatterbox, started speaking as soon as the car hit the main road.
"Now, I understand why you are here to pick us up." Oliver teased as he raised his brows playfully. "You want to view the people's dumbfounded expressions in person." He did not care about Joshua and revealed his intentions blatantly.
However, Joshua was not at all embarrassed at being caught. Instead, he turned around and leaned forward slightly in his seat. "Dad, how can I miss such a good show? It is not every day that we can make people's brains explode. I need to be at the front and enjoy the show fully."
"Ivy, you have found yourself a shameless man."
"I swear. I never knew he was this unabashed." Ivy snuck out her tongue at her boyfriend in irritation.
"What would you have done if you had known beforehand?" Joshua did not hold back and retorted much to Oliver's amusement. "You were bound to fall for my charms and one of them is my shamelessness."
"I must have been blind."
"Then, you are beautifully and perfectly blind. Otherwise, you would not have found such an amazing boyfriend. Am I right, Dad?" Joshua pulled his father-in-law into the conversation, startling the poor man with his sudden question.
But Oliver was quick to compose himself and he let out a cough. "Absolutely. Joshua is perfect for my Ivy, although his shamelessness might be a problem."
"See, even Dad agrees." Ivy pointed out with a smirk, only for it to vanish when she saw Joshua shaking his head and clicking his tongue.
"Dad also said that I'm perfect for you."
"Whatever." Ivy rolled her eyes and looked out of the window, putting a halt to the banter.
Oliver let out a chuckle when he saw his daughter and Joshua pull each other's legs but did not comment a word about it. 'I just hope Aria and Noah too will sort out the problems in their lives and they too become as lovable as these two."
"And Dad, we are here," Joshua exclaimed and Oliver looked at the enormous, sleek building with an incomprehensible expression.
'How long had it been since he last entered a workplace?' He thought and was overwhelmed with emotions immediately.
"Dad, as Joshua said, it is time to flabbergast the world. Let's go." Ivy did not allow her father to drown in emotions even if she understood the reason behind it and opened the door immediately, forcing Oliver too to follow suit.
Oliver took a deep breath and stood in front of the building. It was time for him to return as the world knew him to be and show what he was capable of. He was done hiding and it was time to exact revenge.
"Let's go. I am ready to make a comeback and trample all those bastards who had a hand in trying to ruin us in the past. It's time for me to return."
