Chapter 201 - This Time I Really Met Brother Hu

Chapter 201: Chapter 201 This Time I Really Met Brother Hu

“This might not work. If you two really want to have a child, why not take a stroll in the forest and see if you can find a wild cub?”

The last time that little Golden Cat would have been perfect for them to raise if it wasn’t for the clear physical defects.

Chen Ying went out patrolling with the two cats.

According to the monitoring from the center, the number of giant pandas and other beasts in the area was higher than in the same period in previous years.

This increased the likelihood of fights breaking out due to food scarcity.

Little Jin didn’t get the answer he wanted and seemed unhappy, looking around as if searching for something.

Jinya took out her anger by hunting; she caught three rabbits not far along the trail, and Chen Ying helped carry them for her.

“What’s wrong? What are you looking for?”

While having lunch on the west side of Old Bear Gully, Jinya asked Little Jin while ripping apart a rabbit.

“No, nothing, I’m just worried that the pandas fighting might hurt the other small animals.”

Jinya was full of question marks: Hurt other small animals? Are you serious, do you want to look into my eyes and say that again?

Chen Ying didn’t dare to speak either and turned his gaze aside.

“Wait, wait you two, look across, are those black and white bears fighting?”

Across Old Bear Gully, the woods shook, and stones tumbled down the slope.

He pulled out his binoculars and saw, sure enough, four giant pandas brawling around a tree.

One panda clung tightly to the tree trunk, seemingly terrified.

Chen Ying set down his backpack and took out his drone to get a closer look.

The drone flew closer to the opposite slope, and from a good angle, Chen Ying immediately spotted one panda with a notably distinct demeanor.

“Hey, how did Big-Eared Bear end up over here?”

Just two days ago, Foodie Fu chased that young panda towards Hot Spring Gully, and Chen Ying thought it might meet Big-Eared Bear, but here it was.

The drone ascended and quietly moved closer to the panda on the tree.

You have to admit, this panda was genuinely beautiful.

Its round face and bushy fur, black and white clearly defined, shone with a glossy sheen, resembling a black sweater.

It glanced at the nearby drone and continued to focus on the fight beneath the tree.

Big-Eared Bear did not join the fight; it moved back a bit and watched from under another tree.

The toughest fighter wasn’t the biggest bear; it matched two opponents without falling behind.

Two defeated bears, one rolled straight down the slope, sliding down seven or eight meters before getting up, shaking its head, and twisting its chubby body to leave.

The other was slightly more reluctant, but under the threat of the victor, it could only leave discontentedly.

Seeing the young and energetic giant panda look over, Big-Eared Bear turned and ran without a second thought, its body screaming “coward.”

That’s fine, honestly.

It’s just grown such a thick layer of fat.

Chen Ying had no interest in watching a cat fight, and it wasn’t the right time; they were likely still in a phase of building rapport.

The victor didn’t need much attention; Chen Ying’s focus was on the one that had rolled down the slope.

He didn’t know if it was injured, it seemed fine after the tumble, but he wasn’t entirely reassured without checking personally.

After a search with the drone, he found the panda in a bamboo forest on a small slope.

Chen Ying photographed the Giant Panda, marked it, and planned to send the package to the conservation center later, where someone would be responsible for tracking and observing it.

Jinya and Little Jin had disappeared at some point, and after waiting for a while without their return, Chen Ying didn’t waste any more time and followed Old Bear Gully northward against the current.

He was familiar with this path and clearly remembered where each group was located, so upon reaching his next destination and discovering the area in disarray, Chen Ying immediately found a spot to conceal himself and launched a drone to patrol the surroundings.

Below, a majestic Tiger walked downstream along the creek with bloodstains on his body, indicating he had just enjoyed a meal.

The Tiger stopped by the creek to drink water and then cleaned himself.

He did it meticulously, appearing quite imposing.

Chen Ying grew more alarmed as he observed; this Tiger was markedly different from any tiger corpse he had seen before.

Not being a tiger specialist, a sense of disbelief crossed his mind, yet he didn’t dare to rush out and greet Brother Hu.

What if Brother Hu was in a bad mood?

However, the drone hurriedly took multiple photos from every angle save directly underneath, capturing several shots from each.

Such frenzied, dense shooting seemed to alert the Tiger, who looked up.

He jumped onto a nearby large rock, sat down, and stared intently at the hovering drone.

Through the camera, Chen Ying had an intense stare-down with Brother Hu (or Sister?), and before aggravating the Tiger further, he chose to retreat first.

The Tiger watched the drone fly into the dense forest and didn’t pursue it; instead, he lay down, yawned, rested his head on his right forelimb, and soaked in the warm sun, becoming drowsy.

Well, with the creature not leaving, Chen Ying didn’t dare go out either.

For some reason, facing the Street rat Black Bear, he could greet it face to face, but facing the Tiger, he always felt the Tiger wouldn’t appreciate his friendliness.

While the Tiger was napping, Chen Ying sent an astounding surprise to the conservation center.

He also packaged and sent the photos and a short video of Brother Hu to his professor.

Data charges be damned—if it really was the sort of Tiger he suspected, numerous people would be eager to pay him to help them get close to the Tiger.

Besides, six months ago he was broke, but today, he was the rich guy with a monthly subsidy of fifteen hundred Oh ho ho!

As expected, it wasn’t long before his professor called.

Chen Ying, too scared to pick up, instead initiated a video call with the volume set to the lowest, and stealthily aimed it at Brother Hu napping by the creek.

“Professor, I don’t dare speak too loudly, can you see?”

Listening to the breathy sounds in the receiver, Professor Bai frowned, trying to enlarge the video but not knowing how.

Just then, a professor specializing in this field rushed into Professor Bai’s office.

“Where did you find him? Your student better not be fooling me again.”

“Fooling you? Last time you guys were too slow, and you even called my student to hug the Tiger and not let go?”

He could bear being scolded, but not his beloved student—he wasn’t showing the video now!

Hearing the voices coming through the earpiece, Chen Ying couldn’t help but laugh and cry.

“Professor, stop arguing, the Tiger is moving.”

The Tiger on the rock lifted his upper body, listened attentively, and then got up, shook his fur, hopped down the creek, and lazily walked into the opposite forest.

The two old men, with glasses on, crowded around the tiny phone screen and watched intently as Brother Hu’s tail tip disappeared, then they both heaved a long sigh together.
