Chapter 232 - – Day 1 Qualifier, Better Teammates

Holding the glass bottle tightly in his left hand, Max began to run toward the South. He didn't care whether it was a tall roof or something because he still could use his shoes' ability. A perfectly broken one that not many people cared about because of how simple it was.

The police players noticed his shadow. They pointed their energy gun toward him and began shooting. Compared to the gun in Roach Planet, the bullets traveled pretty slow, like a snail.

"Not today!"

Exclaiming loudly, Max dodged all the bullets and arrived at the edge of the roof. As soon as he stepped, he activated his shoes' ability.

"Jump Shoes!"

His shoes glowed brightly, and he leaped into the air like a bird. He looked as if he was flying. Energy bullets passed by him, decorating the night like a shooting star, although he was the target of those missing stars.

"Stop right there!"

"Let me apprehend you to get high points!"

"Don't run away, you points!"

The police, whether they were from close or afar, began shouting. Max ignored them and landed perfectly on one of the building's roofs near the Midnight Club before making a dash for it. His mask's ability had been reset.

"Speed Mask!"

Traveling on the roof at double the speed, Max reached the hovercar that was used to escape in just a few seconds. No police could catch him. They were playing too disorderly to be able to even guard the escape point.

Once entering the hovercar, Max pressed the escape button. Who cared about teammates who didn't work together? At least not him.

"Bye-bye, idiots!"

He gave the police, who appeared from the corner, a middle finger as the hovercar took off in the distance with a cheerful notification.

[Escape successful!]

As the car moved away, the game system announced his success.

[Target secured.]

[The NovelFireP of this match: Breeze.]

[MVP bonus: +10% of the total end result.]

[Heist result: Diamond Wine. Value: 850 Dinar.]

[Two thieves were detained. Penalty: -400 Dinar for Godo23, Mamo2p, Sukmalip, and Glossycat.]

[935 Dinar has been received.]

[Tier 2 Tournament Points +85.]

[Congratulations!]

Looking at the notification, Max noticed a new one below. If the ranked gave him RP, then this tournament mode gave him Tournament Points or TP. He didn't know whether 85 was good, but he was happy with the result.

Another thing he realized was luck was important in this tournament, something Max had no luxury of. He'd rather had skilled enemies than facing against luck.

Max's teammates, who got teleported to the car, looked sullen. They glared at him as if he was the one who was at fault, even though he did most of the work.

Ignoring these guys that he probably wouldn't meet again, he focused on continuing the tournament. Four more games to go for today!

***

Max had gotten used to getting teleported in a game after playing games for more than a month. The uncomfortable feeling of being in another place in just a second was now gone.

However, he wasn't used to one thing. Getting teleported and suddenly surrounded by people. Many streamers and curious people from before seemed to find him and create an encirclement around where Max disappeared before the match.

"Where is Breeze?"

"His game should've ended soon. I saw his livestream, and he was last seen around this area before entering the match."

"Did he finish sooner than we thought?"

"No, that shouldn't be the case." One streamer with exaggeratedly spiked hair said, "We probably trigger random teleportation. I told you guys to keep your distance!"

The last streamer's guess was indeed correct.

When Max got teleported back to the Lobby, he was pretty surprised that he didn't appear in the place he was before. He found himself on the rooftop of one of the buildings, a place usually inaccessible by normal means.

"Sorry, people. But I don't want to interact with anyone because of what happened earlier. And I don't like the way you were stalking me." He said to the camera, "I want to concentrate on the tournament, so I appreciate it if you can stop following my ass everywhere, thank you."

After conveying his message to the stalkers, Max started another matchmaking.

[Match found!]

[Map: Beach (Ranked).]

[Your role is as… a Police!]

[Target: Unknown! Protect the target from thieves!]

The Goddess of RNG had heard his wishes. He became a police officer in the second game, the best role in this tournament.

Furthermore, the fact he had complete equipment as a police officer would help him win this game easier. Now, there was still another factor he needed to address to make sure he won, and that was his teammates.

As soon as he got teleported into the police waiting room, he immediately looked at his teammates, two men and two women, and said.

"Please play seriously!"

"I hope for your cooperation!"

"Let's have nice teamwork!"

"I beg you, don't throw!"

"Let's do our best."

The other spoke at the same time, and time seemed to freeze. They looked at each other with a gaze that said, 'You too?'

Not a surprise, but Max wasn't the only one who got bad teammates in the first game. He was fortunate that he was skilled enough to carry the game, and the enemies also had the same problem as his team.

In this second game, his teammates apparently were the victims of the teammates who played around. They reached an understanding without saying anything.

"I am confident in my speed and have many traps. Allow me to guard the main beach house." Max started the conversation and chose the role that suited him the most. "I can catch the thieves even if they run away with the target item."

"I also have a lot of traps, but I am pretty slow due to my body." A guy with a big build, builderSix, spoke next, "I will guard the helicopter escape route. I am confident in my aim."

"Then I will guard the party venue!" The first girl with short dark hair, Mimipopo, raised her hand. "I have no traps, but I bring equipment that allows me to move from floor to floor easily. I also bring two tranquilizer guns that can neutralize the thieves without hurting the NPC in a thieving phase."

"I will also guard the main house." The last guy with blue hair, Ranga, continued, "I don't bring many traps, but I am confident in my ability to discover disguised thieves."

"I guess that left me guarding the hovercar." The last girl with green hair, Leafy, sighed, "I am not that confident, so please back me up immediately if the thieves steal the target."

"Got it." Max smiled at her and nodded. "I guess we have decided on our role. Good luck, and have fun."

'I am glad I got good teammates.' He sighed in relief as he looked at them.

The role's distribution was finished. All they had to do next was to catch thieves.

With this team, Max had the confidence to win easily. Undoubtedly, the enemies would be filled with egoist people who wanted glory for themselves. As long as they didn't work together, it was impossible to win this game against his current teammates, who distributed the role in balance.

When the countdown reached 0, Max and his teammates were teleported randomly to the beach house. They immediately moved toward their post without hesitation.

And in just a few seconds after they teleported…

(I found three thieves on the first floor. Please help.)

Ranga reported that he spotted thieves.

Grinning, Max replied through the communication device.

"Got it, I am on my way. Mimipopo, please stay guarding the second floor. I will be enough as a backup."

(Roger that! My tranquilizer is ready in case they are running away.)
