Chapter 166: Blazren Got Flame-Grilled
The clash in the center of the arena had left cracks along the floor and smoke in the air.
Heat rose from Blazren’s body as flames licked across his arms and chest.
Zain stood across from him, wings spread, chest rising and falling.
He looked amused and completely calm.
Then something changed.
Suddenly, two sharp black-and-red horns sprouted from his head.
His aura flared instantly.
The temperature around him dropped for a second.
Blazren raised an eyebrow and let out a short chuckle.
"So you’ve got something more in you."
Zain cracked his knuckles. "I’m just getting started."
Blazren’s smile didn’t fade. He took a deep breath, then stomped forward.
Fire burst out from his body with a violent wave.
His flame core pulsed on his chest, glowing brighter.
"Then I guess I need to stop holding back," he said.
His movements sharpened.
Fire wrapped around both his arms now.
Zain didn’t wait.
He shot forward, wings slicing through the air.
The ground broke beneath his feet.
He threw a punch straight at Blazren’s chest.
Blazren blocked, but the force behind it sent him sliding back.
Zain chased.
One step. Two.
Then a spinning kick aimed for Blazren’s side.
Blazren ducked and countered with a hook engulfed in flame.
The blow hit Zain’s ribs, causing a small explosion on impact.
Zain gritted his teeth but didn’t fall.
Instead, he grabbed Blazren’s arm and slammed his knee into the older man’s side.
The impact cracked part of Blazren’s armor.
"You hit harder now," Blazren said with a smirk, even as smoke rose from his ribs.
Zain jumped back, flipping in the air. "And you still don’t move fast enough."
Blazren growled. "Let’s see if you’re still smiling in a minute."
He threw both arms forward, sending a wave of fire through the floor.
The flames exploded upward in front of Zain, forcing him to leap into the air.
Blazren was already waiting.
He dashed in, his fists glowing bright, and launched a rapid flurry of punches mid-air.
Each strike came faster, hotter.
Zain blocked some and took a few, but he didn’t retreat.
Instead, he brought both hands together and slammed them into Blazren’s chest like a hammer.
Blazren flew back, rolled once, and stopped on one knee.
He stood up slowly, brushing dust from his shoulder.
Zain landed across from him, one foot forward, both wings flexing behind him.
"I thought this was a test," Zain said, wiping a bit of blood from the side of his mouth.
Blazren smirked again, flames building around him.
"It still is. You want the AA-Rank? Then take it from me."
Zain’s eyes glowed under his horns.
"Fine," he said. "Let’s turn this into a real fight."
He stepped forward slowly, black-and-red wings flaring wide behind him.
The ground cracked with each step.
His hands clenched into fists as thick energy poured off his body.
Blazren narrowed his eyes. "So you’re done playing."
Zain didn’t answer.
He just brought one fist to his chest and started pulling all of his power inward.
The air around his arm twisted.
His skin glowed faintly, his fist shaking from too much energy building at once.
"Heavenly Demon Fist," he muttered.
Blazren’s eyes narrowed. "Then I guess I’ve got no choice."
Without waiting, he activated his strongest state, [Infernal Drive].
Flames exploded from his core, rising up his legs, arms, chest, and face.
His entire body was now covered in burning energy.
The temperature in the room soared.
Zain looked at him and smiled.
Blazren grinned. "Let’s finish this."
They both moved.
Zain shot forward with unbelievable speed.
Blazren charged at the same moment, fire trailing behind him like a comet.
The two clashed in the center of the arena with a deafening boom.
Blazren struck first—a blazing uppercut meant to knock Zain into the air.
Zain ducked under, twisted, and drove his fist toward Blazren’s ribs.
Blazren blocked with both arms, but the power behind it made his whole body slide back.
Zain didn’t stop.
He dashed again, this time throwing a wild combo of punches, fast and heavy.
Blazren matched him, flame for force.
One punch landed on Zain’s shoulder.
Another struck his stomach. But Zain didn’t slow down.
He kept moving forward.
Then, with a burst of wing power, Zain launched into the air.
He flipped and came down with a punch aimed directly at Blazren’s chest.
Blazren raised both arms to guard.
Too late.
Zain’s fist was filled with all his Heavenly Demon energy.
It pierced through the flame shield and struck Blazren’s chest.
The force shattered the energy around him.
A flash of light burst from the impact.
Blazren gasped as he staggered back.
Then, Zain’s fist pulsed.
A crack spread from where it landed—under the armor, inside Blazren’s core.
Zain whispered, "Break."
The energy inside his fist exploded, not outward, but inward.
It shattered Blazren’s defenses from the inside.
Blazren dropped to one knee, chest heaving.
Flames around him flickered, then went out.
He looked up at Zain.
Zain stood over him, wings still out, arm still glowing faintly.
Blazren let out a short breath, then laughed softly.
"I yield."
Zain pulled his hand back. "You held up better than I thought."
Blazren smirked. "And you hit harder than you look."
Zain reached out his hand.
Blazren hesitated for a second, then took it.
Zain pulled him up with one firm tug.
Blazren stood, shaking off the dust from his shoulder.
"Not bad, kid. You pushed me more than I expected."
Zain gave a small grin. "I thought you could take more."
Blazren let out a quiet chuckle. "I could... barely."
He looked at Zain for a moment, then nodded.
"Congratulations," he said. "You’ve officially become an AA-Rank hero."
Zain smirked. "Thanks. About time."
Blazren rolled his shoulder, still sore. "That was a good fight."
Zain stretched his arms and cracked his neck. "It was. Finally got to let loose."
He looked around the arena, still glowing from the clash of their powers.
"I’ve been holding it all in lately. Felt good to release it."
Blazren nodded. "Yeah... sometimes we need to burn it out."
Zain exhaled slowly. "I feel refreshed now."
Blazren patted his back. "Enjoy it. You earned it."
Zain smiled. "I will."
