Chapter 41: Jumping Ranks (1)
“Stop this nonsense. Sir, what are you doing here? I’m wounded right now. I can’t practice with you.”
Since Kyle had a good relationship with Joseph Kingsley, he carelessly teased him.
“Son of a b*tch, you really are amazin! You won so many credits for our training base!” As Joseph Kingsley finished half of his sentence, his curses transformed into praise for Kyle.
“I’ve heard all of it. You went to the frontlines and was promoted to corporal in just three days, then you obtained important information about the enemy camp and led a troop of a hundred men yet you infiltrated the enemy base all by yourself and wiped out the entire base with just a small casualty!”
Joseph Kingsley gave Kyle a thumbs-up as he spoke with raw emotion.
“You’re really talented! Do you know how important this raid is to our army? By wrecking the large base, three medium-sized camps and the transit camp, the situation at the front line of the war was completely reversed! All the troops in the military, no, the whole country had gone crazy over this perfect counter-attack!
“As the greatest contributor to this achievement, you’re now considered as the hero of our country and the idol of all soldiers! As a result, there’s a wave of young people lining up to join the army!
Compared to the time he was promoted to corporal in three days, Kyle was truly famous this time.
“Don’t praise me so much or I’ll become prideful.” Kyle laughed lightly as his young, handsome face brimmed with self-confidence.
A mere American captain with super soldier constitution could shine brilliantly during World War II. So what’s the difficulty in becoming a regional American hero with a more versatile and powerful card-picking system?
However, Kyle didn’t expect that due to this campaign his reputation in the army would greatly enhance.
Kyle winked at Joseph Kingsley and asked with a slight expectation, “By the way, did the Commanding General mention anything about my rank or something? You know, since I’ve made such a huge contribution to the war.”
“You son of a b*tch, you’ve been a corporal for such a short while and you’re already thinking about your promotion?” Joseph Kingsley stroked his beard as he spoke with a straight face, “Meritorious service in the military is achieved over many years! Right now, defeating the Germans and defending our country is the most important thing. However, you really have achieved a lot in this campaign, so your rank has risen a bit!”
Kyle picked up the hint and asked, “How much is a bit?”
“See for yourself!” Chief Joseph did not want to say anything else about it. He took a soldier’s ID card out of his uniform and threw it at Kyle.
Flustered, Kyle grabbed the newly registered card and examined the black and white headshot which was taken when he had joined the army.
Name: Kyle Soldiers.
Sex: Male.
Age: 22.
Rank: Second Lieutenant
“I’m a Second Lieutenant?! What––” Kyle was in a state of shock. It was not just a bit, it was huge jump!
Kyle looked up, eyes appallingly shocked. He jumped from enlisted to officer rank!
