Chapter 91: Asura’s Arena (Part 2)

Leberli lifted the lid of the enamel pot, releasing a cloud of steam and a fragrant aroma.

"Is it a hot pot?"

She had mentioned it to Leberli in passing before, and he had remembered.

"Come take a look, is it eaten this way?"

Qiao Suisui leaned in and saw that the table was already set with more than a dozen plates, each one containing food she loved to eat. Although they were not quite like the ingredients from the real world, they were close enough.

"Ash, I really haven't had hot pot in so long, thank you."

Seeing her smile so sweetly brightened Leberli's mood, and he didn't even mind that she had arranged for a houseful of people to come and enjoy the hot pot with them.

After feeding the four little lions, Ruka came down from upstairs and saw the normally empty dining room now crowded with people around a table. The table was rectangular, with the enamel pot placed in the center, surrounded by plates of ingredients waiting to be cooked. Qiao Suisui, naturally, sat in the prime C-position directly across from the pot, with Leberli sitting close beside her on her left. When Qiao Suisui saw Ruka, she smiled and patted the seat on her right, signaling for him to come over. Ruka walked over, glanced at Sang Yan as he passed by, and sat down directly.

Carl's eyes shifted and he strode around the dining table, taking a seat directly across from Qiao Suisui.

Gai Meilun scratched his head and asked, "There was a seat where you were standing just now, why did you walk such a big circle?"

Carl glanced at him and, with his legs crossed, said, "I'm hungry, so I want to sit in front of the pot. Do you have a problem with that?"

His comment was a clear tell, with both Ruka and Leberli inevitably turning to look at Carl. All the others at the meal, except for Qiao Suisui, had no particular interest in the hot pot itself. Was Carl, who always worked in the field, really so captivated by the taste of food? It was utter nonsense.

Gai Meilun wanted to retort but was stopped by Sang Yan's raised hand. With a polite smile, he took a seat diagonally across from Qiao Suisui, making it convenient to reach for the dishes she couldn't get to later.

Ah Yao, with his large size, took up two seats by himself. He sat down next to Carl, leaving a bit of a gap between them, which made Carl look almost petite by comparison.

Gai Meilun's eyes spun around a little before he took a seat between Carl and Sang Yan.

His Brother Yan, he was here to guard!

He had figured out the misunderstanding from last time. It turned out Brother Yan was interested in a little female. Bah, he had worried for several days for nothing, thinking about what he would do if Brother Yan liked men. The Dragon Clan couldn't be left without descendants.

This meal was a good opportunity to close the gap between Brother Yan and the little female and also to gauge Brother Yan's thoughts. The more Gai Meilun thought, the heavier he felt his responsibility was.

Everyone had their own agendas during the meal.

Only Qiao Suisui was simply enjoying the pleasure of the hot pot.

She first cooked a plate of thinly sliced meat, as Leberli always provided her with the best. She didn't know where he had found this beautiful and delicate enamel pot, but the food cooked in it did taste different compared to regular pots. Qiao Suisui was always particular about what she ate, and now, with such a ceremonious hot pot meal and the lively atmosphere, her innate human gene for social dining suddenly sprang forth.

"It's been so long since I've had a meal with so many people. Should we toast?"

She was a bit shy, holding a beer mug larger than her face filled with juice, her big black eyes sparkling with anticipation and joy.

Ruka was happy to see her in a better mood and relaxed a bit herself. She mimicked the toast but swapped out the large beer mug in her hands for a milk cup.

Their glasses clinked together, all seven making a crisp sound. With the pot steaming and the warm yellow light illuminating the table, there was indeed a cozy, family-like feeling.

Leberli ladled meat and bok choy from the pot into her bowl, while Ruka added fresh vegetables to the cooking. Carl, silent, took a few bites and made a sound of being scalded; he seemed genuinely just there for the meal. Ah Yao was holding a small bowl, queuing to scoop out meat, while Gai Meilun tried a meat roll, found it bland, and didn't understand why the little female liked such things.

"You should eat it with dipping sauce. Like this."

There on the spot, Qiao Suisui taught them how to mix their sauces. Even though there was no sesame sauce, she was still content. Everyone tried eating with her recommended method, and it did indeed taste a lot better than before.

Sang Yan saw her eating with sweat all over her forehead and pushed some tissues in front of her.

When everyone had almost finished eating, Gai Meilun suggested, "This is kind of boring, why don't we play a game?"

Qiao Suisui asked with a smile, "It's not going to be Truth or Dare, is it?"

"What game is that?"

Seeing that even Ruka looked bewildered, she realized the Beastmen hadn't heard of this game. So she explained the rules of Truth or Dare to everyone in detail.

"Great! Let's play this!" Gai Meilun exclaimed excitedly, slamming the table. This game was perfect for prying information.

As long as Qiao Suisui was happy, no one else had any objections.

Ah Yao, as told, took an empty wine bottle and gave it a spin on the table. The bottle began to rotate and finally came to a slow stop, pointing towards Leberli.

"Ash, now you can choose anyone here to ask a question," Qiao Suisui said.

Leberli smiled and, looking at Qiao Suisui, asked in an ambiguously flirtatious tone, "I choose you. Truth or Dare?"

As he asked that, his words laced with a carefree intimacy, Carl's face darkened, Gai Meilun sneaked a glance at Sang Yan, seeing no change in his expression, and Ruka continued to sit facing the dining table, staring at a plate of lettuce, seemingly lost in thought.

Qiao Suisui tilted her head in thought and said, "I'm the host, so you can't pick me."

Leberli pinched her face gently and said, "That's not how it works. Are you trying to take advantage of our ignorance of the rules by being cheeky?"

Qiao Suisui denied it and told him to choose someone else. Leberli smiled and agreed. He looked between Carl and Sang Yan across the table, and then said, "Carl."

Leberli's demeanor when he spoke to Carl was completely different from how he had spoken to Qiao Suisui, with none of that stickiness. Leaning back in his chair, he slightly lifted his chin and stared at Carl sitting opposite him, challenging, "Truth or Dare?"

Carl smirked, his eyes meeting the challenge without evasion, and raised an eyebrow in response, "Truth."

"Your injury is almost healed. When are you returning to the Federation?"

On hearing this, Qiao Suisui looked towards Carl. She had just remembered that he had been injured by Zong Fang to the extent of revealing his Beast Form.

Carl, with a forced smile, met Leberli's sharp gaze and said, "I'm just working for the Federation; I'm not sold to them. I'll decide when to go back."

Suddenly, the atmosphere was fraught with tension.

Qiao Suisui looked from Leberli to Carl, unsure what the bad blood between them was and why they had suddenly become so confrontational.

Ruka offered her a meatball, diverting her attention.

"Be careful, it's hot."

"Oh, okay."

Gai Meilun coughed twice, then quickly said, "Alright, next up."

Leberli spun the bottle again, his hand exerting just enough force to make the bottle point directly at Ruka. Only Sang Yan noticed his subtle maneuver, but he said nothing.

"Ruka, it's your turn to ask," Qiao Suisui said, looking at him curiously, wondering what he would ask.
