Chapter 1246: Ivy and Tiger

Chapter 1246: Ivy and Tiger

One month after Hera and Dominic’s wedding...

[Wei Family Residences]

Ivy and Tiger sat on the long couch in the family room. Tiger’s entire body was stiff, his hands fixed on his legs, and his face twitched as if he didn’t know which expression he would wear. His fitted suit that accentuated his huge physique paled in comparison to the overflowing nervousness he exuded.

Who wouldn’t feel nervous when his future in-laws were seated right across from him?

Ivy glanced at Tiger and couldn’t help but smile. ’He said he would impress them at first sight, not scare them.’

Still, Ivy knew Tiger was doing his best to look as ’presentable’ and ’worthy’, as he called it. This alone was enough for her. She wasn’t expecting anything from her parents. The only reason they came in here was for formality.

Whether they supported their engagement or not, she didn’t care. She hadn’t been part of this family for years and had never gotten any support at the beginning of her career. However, she might’ve said that, but she couldn’t forget that her parents were the people who financed her privileged education. So, this was only to show a bit of decency.

"Ahem!" Mr. Wei, seated on the one-seater couch, cleared his throat aloud.

For the first few minutes, they didn’t say anything because they simply wanted to assess the man his daughter wanted to marry. They expected the worst, but not a hoodlum!

"So, you two..." the old man glossed his eyes over their faces. "... wants to get married?"

"Yes!"

"Yes."

The old man and his wife flinched when Tiger yelled. They didn’t even hear Ivy’s answer for how loud Tiger’s voice was.

"I’m going to marry your daughter and love her even when she’s dead — I mean, until death do us part. Though, I still meant that I’ll continue to love her even if she becomes a skeleton or even if I become one!" Tiger roared, his eyes burning as if they could burrow a hole in his future in-laws’ foreheads.

"..."

Ivy bit her inner bottom lip to stop herself from smiling. But her cheekbones already went up.

[Just show your determination. I’m sure her parents would accept you easily if you showed your sincerity.] This was Dominic’s advice to Tiger before this day.

Was he showing his determination and sincerity enough?

Afraid he wasn’t expressing himself enough, he took a deep breath and closed his eyes. When he reopened them, the burning fire in his eyes turned into killer light beams piercing through the Wei couple.

Ivy’s parents almost felt like they were blinded momentarily.

What was wrong with this scallywag? Why was he glaring at them as if he wasn’t here to ask for their daughter’s hands for marriage, but her hand, literally?!

The couple took a moment to recover from the light beams Tiger was shooting at them. Thanks to Ivy, Tiger calmed down when she reached for his hand.

"Ahem!" this time, Ivy’s mother cleared her throat. "What is your name?"

"Clarkson Cruel, ma’am!" Tiger huffed proudly.

"Cruel?" the couple looked at each other before shifting their attention back to him. "That’s an unusual family name."

"But it’s easy to remember!"

"I see. Yes, it is." Ivy’s mother looked at her daughter helplessly. ’Is she sure she’s going to marry him?’

They might’ve been estranged from their daughter, but Ivy was still their daughter.

"Mr. Cruel, since it’s come to this, I hope you don’t mind if I ask you a few personal questions." Mr. Wei remarked sternly, finding his courage to show his authority in this place.

Although Tiger looked like he would start throwing fists if they said anything wrong, they believed he would contain himself for Ivy. IF, Tiger cared enough for her. If not, then that only showed he didn’t deserve her.

[Sincerity is one thing, but a family like the Wei’s would be interested to know your capabilities. They’ll surely ask more personal things about you since you’re marrying their daughter. They have to know if you can give her a life better than they gave her.] This was Axel’s advice to him.

Reminded of this advice, Tiger nodded. But before Mr. Wei could say anything, Tiger took out a small bundle from his suit.

The Wei couple furrowed their brows, watching him unwrap the bundle to show them a few things. Tiger lined them up perfectly before he took out another piece of papers from inside his suit. He wordlessly unfolded the papers and placed them on the last.

"Ahem!" Tiger cleared his throat as he lifted his eyes to his future in-laws. "This is the car I drive, but I own a few others under my name — fully paid. These are the documents for my yacht, private jet, and sports cars. I also have here all the documents for my property that were under my name."

Tiger started as he presented the proofs he laid out. "This, on the other hand, are my diplomas. I graduated from Harvard Law. And this right here is the passbook of my bank account." He then opened the passbook to show them the balance.

Shocked but curious, the Wei couple stretched their neck to get a glimpse of his passbook. Their eyes almost popped out of their sockets as they lost count at the tenth zero in it. And the bank was in the strongest currency.

"I am very capable of taking care of Ivy, ma’am, sir!" Tiger shouted his lungs out, looking at his future in-laws with a burning heart.

The couple opened and closed their mouths, but for a moment, all they could do was look at the proofs Tiger brought them. They were speechless. Not only did he have a lot of money in his bank, but he also had a lot of properties under his name: vehicles, luxury vehicles, and even pieces of land in different billionaire rows in the world. To top it all off, he graduated from Harvard Law.

The couple, who initially thought Tiger was a hoodlum, were stupefied. For a moment, they could only look at him with a gaping mouth.

"Please, ma’am and sir, let me marry Ivy. I promise you I’ll love her with all my heart!"

[Oh, right! Tiger, tell them Ivy doesn’t need to sign a prenup. If you tell them that, they might accept you. Also, if Ivy divorced you, she’d get half of everything you own! Most importantly, don’t listen to Ivy if she says just be yourself. You and I know you’ll screw it up.] Hera’s advice suddenly crossed him, so Tiger added,

"And I won’t even bring up prenup! I can sign a prenup to protect her properties, but I won’t require her to do the same. What’s mine is hers: my properties, my heart, my body, my soul, and even my semen! It’s all hers!"

Hearing this, Ivy’s eyes softened as she stared at him. Although this was not how she expected things to turn out when he said he would impress them, it didn’t matter. Because even if her parents weren’t impressed, Ivy was. His words and determination moved her heart.

Much to Ivy’s surprise, her parents started laughing heartily.

"That’s good, that’s good!" her father shamelessly nodded.

Her mother, on the other hand, smiled gently. "Mr. Cruel, did you have dinner? I have prepared something. It’s best if we can continue this talk over dinner."

Tiger grinned from ear to ear and looked at Ivy proudly. The corner of his teeth even shone as if telling her, "See? I impressed them."

"..."

’All my life... I’ve always thought they were righteous,’ thought Ivy, watching her parents escort Tiger to dinner like a VIP. ’I never would’ve thought they’d be bribed.’

"I guess... this is still better than a confrontation." She cleared her throat, a little embarrassed at the speech she prepared beforehand in case she had to protect Tiger.

Tiger and the Wei Couple enjoyed dinner together. Her father and Tiger even became best friends in under a few minutes.

Since then, they were inseparable.

Ivy’s engagement went smoothly, just like how their intimate wedding went without a hitch. However, at one point, Ivy wondered if she was their daughter or if Tiger was actually their son.

Either way, with Tiger now her husband (after a year) and him being able to bring out another side of her parents, it slowly mended their relationship with Ivy. Eventually, they apologized to her for neglecting her and admitted their wrongs as parents.

They could’ve realized their shortcomings because they were getting older, or because of something else. But for Ivy, she had already forgiven them long ago.

And with that, Tiger and Ivy lived a happily married couple’s life and were eventually blessed with triplets.
