Chapter 10. First Party Action (3)
We descended the spiral staircase in a circular motion, reaching the 2nd floor when I thought we had descended about three floors of a normal building.
The appearance of the 2nd floor was not so different from the 1st floor.
It was a scene of caves with reddish-brown earthen walls lit by a faint light.
“I heard that when you reach the 5th floor, the scenery changes at once. As I’ve seen, the 2nd and 3rd floors are like this all the time.”
“You mean the monsters just change?” 𝒷ℯ𝒹𝓃𝓸𝓿ℯ𝓁.𝒸ℴ𝓶
“Yes. Of course, the map is different from the 1st floor.”
I activate my [Mapping] skill to try it out.
The square map was almost entirely unknown territory, with only one brightly lit spot indicating our current location.
“Well, let’s walk around a bit. But Musou-san, you are very stable even at level 3, so we may be able to look at the third floor by the end of the day.”
Kodachi-san said and walked leading the way again.
I followed suit.
As we proceeded, Kodachi-san gave me a brief explanation about the monsters we would encounter on the 2nd floor.
“Kobolds appear on the 2nd floor, but the new monsters are goblins and hobgoblins. Goblins are just hair above kobolds, but hobgoblins are quite strong. When I had just come down from the 1st floor, I had a hard time dealing with even one of them.”
“Kodachi-san struggled.”
“No, no, it was when I was even lower level than now. I think the first time I fought them was at level 5 or something. They are still a troublesome opponent, but it was nothing if it was just one of them.”
“I’m level 3, right?”
“Ahahaha. It’s okay. I’ve never seen a hobgoblin on the 2nd floor other than by itself, and I’m with you.”
“You’re a reliable senpai. I’m relying on you.”
“Fufuun. You can call me ‘Onee-chan’ if you want. I mean, how old are you, Musou-san?”
“I’m 19.”
“Ah, so I’m one older than you. Please call me ‘Kazane-neechan’.”
“Well, then… Kazane-neechan.”
“……! I’m sorry. I got carried away. Please forgive me.”
Kodachi-san’s cheeks were blushing and breathing roughly.
What the heck?
As we walked through the cave, Kodachi-san reacted with a twitch after a while.
She restrained me with her hand and whispered to me.
“There is a sign of a monster ahead. If there’s one on the second floor, it’s not a kobold. It’s either a goblin or a hobgoblin. If it’s a goblin, I’ll leave it to Musou-san.”
A few moments after Kodachi-san said that.
A monster appeared from the front of the cave.
