Chapter 194. Entrance To The Town
The road that leads from the entrance of the Dwarf Town, Dagmahar, to the residential area of the town is a narrow path sandwiched between towering cliffs on both sides.
Having passed through the fortress for defense against external threats, we proceeded along this road under the guidance of Dwarf warriors.
Although it seemed like there had been some reconciliation between the Dwarf warriors and Yusefia-san, their minor clashes continued.
Even now, Yusefia-an was challenging the acting chief of the settlement, Grunba.
“What’s this? Is Bargamund out somewhere? You could’ve said that from the beginning.”
“Hmph. Dark Elf girl, if you were an acquaintance of the chief, you should’ve said so from the start.” 𝘣𝑒𝑑𝑛𝘰𝑣𝘦𝘭.𝘤𝑜𝑚
“No need to say such things; you can usually understand the flow of the conversation. That’s why Dwarf like you are known for being stubborn.”
“Oh, come on! Yusesia-san, stop sowing the seeds of quarrel so easily.”
Sensing that it was about to escalate into a fight again, I hurriedly intervened to stop Yusefia-san.
In response, Yusefia-san pouted.
“Mmm. But Daichi, they’re not blameless either. It’s not fair that only I get scolded.”
“Um, you’re not a child, after all. By the way, Yusefia-san, how old are you?”
“After trying to peek at a maiden’s stats, are you now going to ask about my age? Really, you have no sense of tact. It makes me appreciate Kazane and Hotaru’s efforts.”
Kazane-san, who had been listening nearby, and Yuzuki enthusiastically responded to Yusefia-san’s words.
“Oh, you understand, right? Daichi-kun, you’re all hesitant when we want you to make a move, but you come forward when it’s unrelated.”
“That’s right. Well, it can’t be helped since you’re a senpai, but, oh, and Yusefia-san, only Kazane-san and I can speak ill of senpai, okay? Please keep that in mind.”
“Understood, understood. Your possessiveness knows no bounds, huh?”
“Well, you know~ (I guess).”
My heroines puff out their chests proudly.
Should I be happy and think I’m loved, or should I question it?
By the way, if I mentioned the difference between them when they strike the same pose, it would become blatantly obvious, but I’m sure I’d receive a furious scolding from both of them, so I’ll keep quiet.
Yusefia-san’s initial statement brings the conversation back.
Currently, the leader of the Dwarf Town, Dagmahar, and one of the 8 Heroes, Bargamund, is on a long-term expedition, which has been going on for about 2 weeks.
He’s expected to return soon. Either tomorrow or the day after.
But Yusefia-san expresses her thoughts on this matter.
“However, if that’s the case, Bargamund’s timing is quite unfortunate. That recent horde of monsters was a formidable force, the kind you don’t often see near human settlements. It’s quite something to be attacked by such a force when he’s not around.”
Yusefia-san’s words made the Dwarf warriors have serious expressions.
Acting Chief Grunba lets out a sigh of distress.
“No… This isn’t the first time we’ve been attacked by a monster horde of that scale in the past week.”
“What?!”
Even Yusefia-san seems surprised by this revelation.
As we’re not familiar with the circumstances of this world, we tilt our heads in confusion.
According to their conversation, the horde of monsters, consisting of approximately 30 creatures (there might have been more before our arrival), including Flame Skull and Hell Hounds, is a highly irregular and powerful force.
Then, these irregular and powerful attacks have occurred 3 times in the past week, including the current one.
This situation is clearly abnormal.
Hearing this, I couldn’t help but recall 2 incidents from my previous experiences in this otherworldly life.
The first was the massive horde of monsters that attacked the Elf village. According to the stories I heard, it’s extremely rare for a village to get assaulted by such a large group.
The 2nd incident was the receptionist at the Adventurer’s Guild mentioning that there had been numerous irregular incidents involving monsters lately.
This conversation took place before we headed to Griffin Mountain.
Irregular, irregular, irregular…
I couldn’t help but wonder if these consecutive irregular events occurring across different regions were really just coincidences.
Perhaps they were happening for a reason, driven by some underlying cause.
As I contemplated this, we reached the residential area of the town.
Then, we were about to witness a sight we had never seen before.
