Chapter 103 - Allen Came to Ask for Advice!
Chapter 103 Allen Came to Ask for Advice!
The next morning, Lorne opened the door of the tavern just like a routine. Then, he stood in front of the door and stretched.
He had been up all night working on improving the perfumes. The moment he opened the bottle, the fragrance was strong enough to fill the entire tavern with the scent of perfume.
This also made Lorne a little excited. As long as this thing gradually improved, it would eventually become a mature product.
Anyway, he was not in a hurry to sell this thing for money. When the time came, he would give one or two bottles to those people he knew and let them take it home to their wives and daughters to try it out.
After standing in front of the door and stretching his muscles and breathing in the fresh air, Lorne sat back down beside his counter.
However, he did not continue perfecting the perfumes. Instead, he took out Lolan’s law book and re-immersed himself in drawing circles.
Time flew past and it was already noon. Lorne was just about to stop what he was doing and prepare his meal. Suddenly, there was a commotion at the door. Lorne could not help but turn his head and see Allen stepping in with a smile on his face.
“Boss, I came uninvited. Please don’t take offense to my sudden arrival.”
Lorne immediately threw the book in his hand aside and said with a smile, “Once you enter my tavern, you’re my guest. What’s the point of being this formal? Sit down first. I’ll cook a few more side dishes for us. You were just in time for my meal.”
Allen replied and sat down leisurely on the chair. He wiped the table while he was at it. He did not wait long before Lorne brought a few exquisite side dishes out of the kitchen. He also brought a jar of wine.
After arranging the dishes neatly, Lorne sat on the right side of Allen.
“Come on then, let’s eat!”
Allen poured himself a cup of wine and clinked it with Lorne, then drank the whole
lot.
“It’s always interesting to eat and drink here. Usually, when I eat in the tavern, the outside hustle and bustle fades away.
“The dishes at home are just so-so. They are not as good as yours.”
Lorne smiled, and then asked with some doubt sketched on his face.
“It’s rare to see you here. Were you on a big business again?”
Allen’s eyes rolled for a moment, and then he began to make up a story on the spot.
“It’s not a big business at all. It’s more like making a deal with the palace. It’s just helping the Ministry of War to run a super business.”
Lorne was shocked. Then he looked at Allen with a surprised look.
“I say, you’re quite capable. You can even take on the Ministry of War’s business. I think you’re the most capable person in your small team.
“Charles and the others are suffering every day. Yet you’re doing well considering you’re doing business with the ministries of the palace.
“Tell me quickly, do you know any important figures in the Ministry of War? If you really know someone, please recommend me and let me go to the Ministry of War to get a job. That would be good.”
Allen looked at Lorne who still had some yearning for the Ministry of War and could not help but secretly feel happy.
That was great. He did not expect Lorne to have interest in the Ministry of War.
One of the reasons why he came here today was to show his presence so that Lorne would not forget him. That would be troublesome should the time come for him to join the palace.
The second reason was that he ran into some things, so he wanted to consult Lorne and learn how to properly solve the difficult problems in the Ministry of War.
Apart from these two main purposes, it would be a great thing if he could also drag Lorne to his Ministry of War. However, the most troublesome thing was that he could not directly reveal his identity or reveal any important information.
Otherwise, His Majesty the King would definitely hang him and beat him up. Therefore, Allen could only shake his head helplessly. “Look at me, do I look like I know those kinds of big shots? 𝐟re𝐞w𝐞𝒃𝓃𝒐𝐯𝚎𝒍.c૦𝚖
“I only managed to get in touch with some minor officials in the Ministry of War. In addition, I just so happened to be the most suitable person for this business. That’s why I was lucky enough to accept it.”
Lorne was a little disappointed. His dream of reaching the heavens in one go had failed again.
However, in general, this was also within expectations, so Lorne quickly perked up. “What business did the Ministry of War ask you to do? You can tell me about it and let me have an eye-opening experience.”
Allen had made up a complete story before coming here, so he repeated what he practiced.
“The Ministry of War has eliminated a batch of old-fashioned weapons that had been accumulated in the warehouse. Many of them have begun to decay and are completely useless.
“But for the time being, we can’t find a workshop that can refine and reforge weapons on a large scale.
“Therefore, they can only hand this business over to me so that I can first ship them to a palace warehouse hundreds of miles away.”
Lorne nodded in understanding. It turned out to be a transaction of old weapons. This was quite common for the palace of a country. After all, the number of weapons and armors produced by the Ministry of Works was always greater than the number of standing armies.
This was to prevent any shortages or situations where there would be insufficient supplies in the event of a large-scale war. However, if there was no war for one or two years in a row, it would lead to the waste of weapons and armors, and the surplus would be stored in the warehouse.
Over time, they would become old and could not keep up with the new equipment, so they could not be used on the battlefield anymore.
Seeing Lorne nod, Allen could not help but tell him his purpose for coming here today. “Lorne, when I was transporting the old weapons, I found that although these weapons are old, they can still be used.
“If they were smelted and reforged into weapons, it would be a waste to go back and forth transporting them.
“Is there no good way to reuse the old weapons?
“Otherwise, as a businessman, I would be reluctant to see so many weapons being stored in the warehouse go to waste.”
This question made sense. Lorne did not even feel that there was anything strange about it.
Therefore, he thought carefully for a moment, and then said to Allen, “There must be a solution, but generally, the palace would not think of doing so.”
Allen immediately focused his attention, and then asked with an inquisitive look, “Then tell me, is there any way to avoid such a serious waste of materials?”
