Chapter 355: Tiling, Origin Farmers (Tier 1)

Observing the small courtyard, Cassius figured he could effectively house ten people. This was, of course, assuming the Origin Units were the approximate size of your average human.

"Do Origin Units need to eat?"

A good question!

[No. They are fully autonomous. Would you like to read the descriptions of each available Unit?]

Cassius nodded.

{[Origin Farmer]} - [Tier 1]

[Functions: Can till soil and plant Tier 1 Unity Foods]

[Abilities: Tier 1 Unity Seed Production, Tier 1 Unity Seed Bag]

[Drops: Stamina Attribute Orbs, Endurance Attribute Orbs, and Agility Attribute Orbs (Range: 0.1-1)]

[Time to perform Task 'Till' - 2 Seconds]

[Time to perform Task 'Plant' - 1 Second]

[Time required for Tier 1 Seeds to reach maturity - 30 Seconds]

"This means…?"

[Simply put, an Origin Farmer can fertilize plots of land. And as they are magically in possession of Tier 1 Unity Food Seeds, they can begin the process of making Unity Foods.]

[Unity Foods give the Host various amounts of Unity upon consumption (dependent on the Tier of the Unity Food in question)]

"Interesting," mused Cassius, rubbing his chin in thought. "So that means there are other ways to acquire Unity besides becoming stronger through the assimilation of aspects of existence. And since none of the Unity technically disappears after I spend it, my control and upper assimilation limit will only keep increasing."

[You're not as dumb as you look!]

[As for the Drops section, Attribute Orbs drop after an Origin Unit completes a Task. They vary based on the Task performed, but all of them can be used to improve the Origin Unit one way or another.]

[See the 'Time to Complete Task' thingies? Those can be reduced the more Attribute Orbs an Origin Unit devours. Also, whenever you unlock the 'Trade Center' Facility, you can order the Origin Units to sell excess Attribute Orbs. Unity will be acquired from those transactions.]

"Hum…" Deep in thought, Cassius imagined just how many ways he could make use of this Originverse in its later stages.

And from his contemplation, he realized something.

The Originverse was like—

Creating a world from scratch!

[You're amazed by my awesomeness, aren't you~? Trust me, I know exactly what you're feeling, for I feel it every day I wake up and realize I'm me—]

"Purchase five Origin Farmers!"

[Hey, don't interrupt me like that! And are you sure you don't want to check out the descriptions of the Origin Builders and Origin Woodcutters before hastily spending Unity??]

"Is there wood to cut?" asked Cassius. "Are there things that need to be built?? Is there anything here that can build them?? Can the Tier 1 Builders and Woodcutters spawn in trees and materials for buildings???"

[...Well, no, not yet… But it still wouldn't hurt to see what you can possibly buy—]

"No," Cassius firmly rejected. "Just purchase the five Origin Farmers."

[....]

[Very well…]

[Purchased 5 Tier 1 Origin Farmers!]

FWIP! FWIP! FWIP!

Five figures shrouded in darkness suddenly appeared a few feet away from Cassius. They looked like regular farmers, with the iconic straw hats and horsetail grass in their mouths. The only oddity was how they were pitch-black from head to toe—even their farmer clothes were obsidian black.

"Hmm," Cassius appraised them, sensing not a lick of aura or strength. "Well, it's not like you'll be fighting anything. So then, how do I command you lot to do what I want?"

Figuring he should just go straight for it, he pointed at an area of sad-looking brown grass and said, "Go, fix that."

No response.

"???"

[You silly Host, you~]

[You would know that there's a digital map in the Originverse tab if you ever bothered to check it out~]

"...How was I supposed to know that…?"

[Oh no, don't worry, I don't expect much from you! I don't imagine you'd be able to differentiate your left from your right foot without the use of your eyes!]

For the sake of his mental health, Cassius zoned out the System and opened up the Originverse tab in his System Interface. He skimmed past the unnecessary information, focusing on the part that read "Originverse Map."

Opening it up, a large System screen flashed in front of him. On it was a stagnant depiction of the Small Origin Courtyard from a bird's-eye view. It was 1-D, not 3-D, but it was sufficient enough for one to easily understand the layout of the Small Origin Courtyard.

A house in the center, dead grass surrounding it, and a small shed off to the northeastern corner-edge—displayed in the form of blurry pixel blocks.

Curious, Cassius clicked on an area of the dead grass from the Origin Map.

Multiple options appeared before him over where his finger hovered on the map screen. But the majority of them were either grayed out or locked. The only available option was:

[Position Origin Farmer?] - [Y/N]

There was a number clicker beside that option. It capped out at five, clearly representing the number of Origin Farmers Cassius wanted positioned in that spot.

After clicking five, he was then presented with a faintly illusory box-graph that asked him where he wanted each Origin Farmer stationed. It asked this because the Origin Farmers were merely Tier 1 and could thus only work in a limited area.

Specifically, a 5-by-5-meter area.

And since each square block on the box-graph equated to a single meter, each Origin Farmer could take 25 square blocks as their working space. This meant that the five Origin Farmers would be cumulatively working 125 square blocks worth of space.

Following through with the positioning process, Cassius gave them each their own area (which wasn't very big).

Watching them move like robots toward their designated spots, he then reopened the Origin Map. After they reached the center of their areas, he manually clicked an option that popped up after the positioning option. It essentially asked if he wanted them to start conjuring Unity Seeds and planting them.

Naturally, he wanted that!

*Wachow!*

An obsidian-colored hoe was plunged into the poor soil, and as if by a miracle, within the span of two seconds, that hoe traveled the entirety of the 25 square meters.

The plot was tilled perfectly!
