Chapter 32.1 - Holding hands

Chapter 32.1 - Holding hands

Frank selected nightmare mode this time. Kathleen and him have been playing hard mode with Mr. F, because Mo Han is busy with school and hasn’t been online. Since Mo Han is here, it’s natural to play nightmare mode as originally planned.

Luo Fei asked: “We’re still one teammate short, should we find someone else, or just the four of us?”

Mo Han’s faint voice came from next to him: “Don’t bother.”

Frank also said, “Just the four of us.”

Kathleen is much closer to Luo Fei now, and explained with a smile: “Actually, we also have one more teammate who majored in art. He recently accepted a painting job for a game company, and is too busy to come. So, even if it’s just the four of us, I don’t think it’s a problem to clear the level.”

Luo Fei knew that the teammate she was talking about is Mo Han’s junior, Nan Xi, who was said to have outstanding talent in painting, and the paintings he drew are particularly full of aura.

Frank, Kathleen, and Nan Xi have one thing in common – all three are betas.

Luo Fei was puzzled at first, why are all Mo Han’s friends beta? He doesn’t like omegas getting close, so it’s understandable not to make friends with omegas to avoid any accidents, but why doesn’t he even have an alpha friend? Or is his taste unique and he only likes beta?

But later, after playing with Frank and Kathleen for a while, Luo Fei understood.

These two betas have really good personalities. Frank is a carefree and loyal boy, and Kathleen is also a straightforward girl. After getting along for a while, they already regarded Luo Fei as a friend.

There is no psychological burden to make friends with such people, and it’s easy to get along with them. No wonder Mo Han is so close to them.

Just as Luo Fei was thinking about something, a system prompt popped up in front of him – the captain invited you to explore the secret realm, zombie siege (nightmare mode), are you sure?

Zombie siege? The name of this dungeon is hair-raising, and with the difficulty set to nightmare mode, the dungeon won’t be that easy.

But Luo Fei still chose ‘confirm’ without hesitation.

The four of them entered the secret realm after a 10-second countdown, and the scene in front of them immediately changed—

This is a human city commonly seen in doomsday movies. The doors of every house are closed, and the streets are deserted. There are many abandoned vehicles strewn on the street randomly with eye-catching blood stains on them. Occasionally, the wind blows, raising dust all over the place, carrying the sound of strange chewing to the ears.

In the dim lighting, the empty street looks particularly desolate. Cold wind blows from time to time and coupled with the creepy sound, even with Luo Fei’s top mental quality, he can’t help but feel his scalp tingle.

He can foresee that the game planner has bad taste, and will definitely release countless disgusting zombies in this dungeon. They are likely to suddenly appear from behind, catching players off guard. Timid players will probably burst into tears in such a world.

The game engine will link the game environment to the player’s physiological data. When heart rate or any other signals exceed the limit due to excessive fright, or other emotions, they will be sent out immediately. Luo Fei has seen complaints on the forums from players who were directly scared out of the game.

He couldn’t help turning his head to look at Mo Han beside him.

Mo Han’s expression was calm. His eyes swept across the dilapidated neighborhood in front of him as he said, “Let’s split up and meet at the square in front in ten minutes.”

Frank said, “Isn’t it unsafe to act separately?”

Mo Han replied calmly: “Look for weapons and equipment first. In such a big city, the probability of encountering other players directly at the beginning is not high. Just be careful of zombies.”

Kathleen agreed and said: “That’s right, the number of equipment is limited. If the four of us are together, it’ll be hard to find enough guns and ammo for everyone. It’s better to act separately and find more equipment first. Anyway, we can use the group chat at any point, and call for help when there’s danger.”

Frank thought for a while, then looked at Luo Fei and said, “Then you’re in the same group as Mo Han? I’m in the same group as Kathleen.”

Luo Fei naturally liked this grouping very much.

“Okay.” He immediately smiled and looked back at Mo Han, “Is your name Mo Han? Please take care of me.”

Mo Han glanced at him indifferently: “Just don’t hold me back.”

Luo Fei’s default system face still had a bright smile. “No, I’ll be your personal bodyguard.”

After splitting into teams, Frank and Kathleen went for a nearby convenience store to collect weapons, while Mo Han turned and walked to a building on the right, followed by Luo Fei.

This is a hospital. There should have been many patients before doomsday given all the bloodstains over the floor. A woman in a nurse’s uniform with her neck bitten off lay on the ground with her head on one side, her eyes wide open, her eyes frozen in horror the moment before her death.

Mo Han glanced at her, walked around her body calmly, and walked towards the emergency department.

Most people would feel disgusted and need a few seconds to adjust to such a bloody scene, but Mo Han looked at the horrible corpse as if seeing a boring toy, and walked around it calmly.

Luo Fei admired his calmness and couldn’t help asking, “Aren’t you afraid?”

Mo Han was a little surprised that the other party would ask such a question. He asked with raised eyebrows, “Why would I be afraid?” He looked back at the female corpse lying on the ground, and commented, “It’s just a bunch of virtual data. “

Luo Fei: “…”

He really deserves to be the person he likes! Mo Han has such a strong psychological quality.

That’s right, in the eyes of Mo Han, a hacker, no matter how scary the scene in a holographic game is, no matter how disgusting the creatures are, it’s all a bunch of data.

What’s so scary about data?

Thinking of this, Luo Fei was much more comfortable. He walked to Mo Han’s side and said, “Have you played nightmare mode many times before?”

“Yeah.” Mo Han said as he walked forward. “But we haven’t been able to pass nightmare mode in zombie siege yet. The most difficult thing is not other players, but the zombies everywhere. It is not easy to reach the finish line successfully… Stop talking and focus on finding weapons first.”

Luo Fei had no choice but to stop bothering him, and obediently said, “Okay, let’s look together.”

The two went to the emergency department on the first floor and searched around, only to find a few scattered bullets, and nothing else.

Every time a dungeon is refreshed, the equipment and gear is also randomly refreshed, so even if Mo Han has played this mode before, he won’t know where and what equipment will randomly spawn today. But there will definitely be something to be gained from such a large building, and of course, zombies are also lurking around.

He looked around and suggested, “Go upstairs and have a look.”

Luo Fei followed him, and the two quickly climbed up the stairs to the second floor.

The signage on the corridor of the second floor is “infected disease area”. This floor was much more exciting than the first floor, the moment they came up, they saw corpses in white coats littered all over the place. However, after hearing Mo Han say “it’s just a bunch of data”, Luo Fei felt no discomfort when he saw these corpses.

The two quickly bypassed the bodies and searched the ward.

On both sides of the corridor are neat wards, numbering 001 to 030. Mo Han leaned his back against the wall and gently pushed open the door of one of the wards.

The ward was empty, and no doctors, patients, or corpses were seen. There is a treatment bed in the middle of the room, with bedside tables on both sides, and a metal wardrobe against the wall. After Mo Han rummaged through the drawers and wardrobe, he frowned and backed out, continuing to check the next room.

Luo Fei also imitated his movements and searched one by one. The two went from room 1 to 10, but didn’t find anything.

Luo Fei couldn’t help thinking, maybe there is no equipment on this floor? It can’t be a zombie gathering area?

The corridor was a bit too quiet, and his spirit was in a state of high tension after searching ten wards in a row and not finding anything.

Adjusted the chapter title a little. Hehe~
