Chapter 16 - I’ve got this Tyrant’s back (16)

Chapter 16 I’ve got this Tyrant’s back

The night sky was extremely dark. The sounds of fierce artillery fire has temporarily been left far behind them.

The patrol ship sped to the mountains and forests. Gu Yuan’s background was in mining. Although the Gu Group’s roots were in Galileo, he was familiar with the mining maps of the entire galaxy. From here, straight ahead, they would come across one of Planet Guar’s abandoned mines.

All mines across the interstellar world were the same. As long as that mine has undergone long-term mining, there will be places and facilities for people to live in. Even if those places have long been abandoned, they were still good enough as a place to stay in for a short while.

Their goal was a tungsten mine. Although mining operations have long ended, the components scattered among the rocks and soil still retain their quality to block off signals. It was a suitable hiding place until the Galilean delegation for the peace talks arrive at Planet Guar.

Lu Deng’s injury has been dealt with and he was lying in bed, quietly asleep. After a few moments, Gu Yuan couldn’t help turning around to look at the young man’s pale cheeks. Confirming that his breathing was still steady, he could then continue to focus on the perils hidden in the darkness of the night.

The pure black super particle gun was placed to one side. It’s surface was stained with some blood.

For the time being, there were no pursuers coming at them. Gu Yuan set the route and turned on the detection radar. He went back to Lu Deng’s bedside to keep watch. He slowly wiped the blood from the gun.

Since he decided to embark on this road to ruin, this gun has been his constant companion. It has accompanied him through several near brushes with death. Before he left, he handed the gun to Lu Zhiguang, in order for him to defend himself.

Gu Yuan guessed that the teenager would shield him regardless of his own safety. So he deliberately left him at some place far enough. However, he didn’t expect that Lu Zhiguang’s marksmanship would be so good. He shot so accurately even from such a long distance.

If it hadn’t been for those shots, even if Gu Yuan could grab the patrol ship, he would have suffered some injuries because he didn’t have time to immediately open the protective cover.

Despite this, he would rather have been injured.

The red-stained clothing has been carefully put away. The wound though was still bleeding and the new bandages were already stained a faint pink.

The sleepy teenager seemed to feel a little cold. His chest and shoulders were slightly curled in and his brows were knit weakly. All thoughts were driven from Gu Yuan’s mind. He quickly pulled off his clothes and sat down, wrapping the other in his arms. Lu Deng was wrapped tight in a flannel blanket and given slow pats of comfort.

Perhaps Lu Deng had derived some comfort from his warmth or breath, Lu Deng’s breathing gradually eased and he snuggled deeper into his arms.

Gu Yuan was always paying attention to his movements. He promptly raised his hand to protect Lu Deng’s injured shoulder. He stretched his arms to wrap the entire person properly. He lowered his head and gently kissed the young man’s brows that were soaked in cold sweat.

While he had been pretending to be a good guest to his Guar hosts, Gu Yuan had long sussed out the construction of their patrol ships. Gu Yuan firmly held the person in his arms and backhandedly opened a secret compartment. He fumbled out a package of standard military rations. He opened the water bag mixed with nutrients and carefully fed it Lu Deng bit by bit.

His mood was exceedingly turbulent but his movements were very gentle. The patrol boat switched to auto-pilot and it would occasionally run into turbulence. However, his hand kept steady, moving not a even an iota.

He fed Lu Deng the entire bag of water. A few drops fell to the side of Lu Deng’s lips.

Gu Yuan looked down for a while. He then quietly leaned over, and gently sucked away the few drops of water.

On the lighthouse, seeing the young man smiling at him in a pool of blood, he suddenly understood what Lu Zhiguang must have felt when he pushed open that prison door and rushed into his arms.

That body that used to be so warm was now so cold that it pained his heart. He wanted to hold him in his arms, but he couldn’t leave the patrol ship unmanned. Gu Yuan tightened his arms, rubbed his lips against the youth’s soft brows. One hand holding his wrist, Gu Yuan simply cradled the other in his arms and sat in the pilot’s seat.

They won’t be separated.

They won’t ever be separated again.

When Lu Deng woke up, he was already lying peacefully in a stone room.

A thick fleece blanket was carefully spread underneath him, leaving one piece to cover his body. The edges and corners were tightly tucked in, completely protecting him from any cold drafts.

Although he had his eyes closed, he could still make out the gentle light seeping through and the aroma of the food slowly spreading about.

He didn’t know what was cooking in the pot, but it was bubbling. The sound of footsteps approached from some point close to him and then arms swept under his shoulders and neck, supporting him to sit up. Avoiding his injuries, he was brought into the other’s arms.

It was very cold in the stone room, after leaving the warmth of the bedding, Lu Deng curled slightly into himself. He was immediately brought deeper within the other’s arms. The flannel blanket pulled up around his shoulders, revealing only his wounds that needed to be treated once again.

The arms holding him were strong and steady. The bandage was removed layer by layer, the cool wound ointment was applied evenly, and a new bandage was wrapped around his wound and knotted tightly.

The atmosphere was too peaceful. Although he knew that they must still be in a dangerous situation, Lu Deng couldn’t help but gently purse the corners of his lips, and quietly rubbed against the other’s neck that was close at hand.

Keenly sensing his movements, the chest against him stretch taut in both joy and sorrow. The other carefully loosened his tight hold and said softly, “Are you awake?”

It felt good being able to survive together.

A shadow of a smile jumped across his features, blooming on the corners of his lips. Lu Deng opened his eyes and looked at him, his eyes filled with clear and warm light.

Gu Yuan fixedly looked at him and heat suddenly surged into his throat.

Light kisses rained down on his face, the warm touch brushed against his eyebrows, his nose, edge of his lips. Gu Yuan’s hand cradled his head gently and carefully.

Lu Deng couldn’t help but smile, his uninjured hand took the initiative to embrace him. He leaned forward and finally managed to rub his nose against Gu Yuan’s.

Evident softness and gentleness appeared at the corners of his eyes. The corners of Gu Yuan’s lips slightly ticked up. He raised his hand to steady him and patiently rubbed the boy’s soft forehead, “Hungry?”

He was feeling hungry a long time ago.

Lu Deng’s eyes brightened, and he nodded slightly as he looked at him. Gu Yuan took a stack of clean clothes and put it on for him. He then shifted the stacks of bedding to allow him to sit up straight. He leaned over and kissed him softly on his forehead. “It’s just about ready.”

His straight and tall figure stood up with the light against his back. Lu Deng suddenly felt a bit of reluctance to let him go. He pursed his lips, raised his hand and pulled him back. “I’m not that hungry…”

Gu Yuan was grasped by his wrist and he immediately stopped. Turning around, he hesitated for a moment. He then lifted the boy up and changed the way he faced on the bed.

The stone room wasn’t very big to begin with. So from such an angle, he could easily see the entire room, which naturally meant that he could always see him.

The young man in his arms raised his head slightly, his thick eyelashes flickered, his eyebrows curled slightly, and his clear eyes filled with warmth.

“From now on, I will always be where you can see me.”

Gu Yuan spoke with a warm voice and his arms around Lu Deng tightened slightly. The turmoil in his mind instantly calmed. When he raised his head again, his eyes were still calm and gentle, “You have to let me keep you in my sights too, okay?”

No matter what happens, he doesn’t want to see the other get himself hurt for his sake again.

Lu Deng looked at him, his eyes clear, and nodded lightly.

In the pot, the Guar military’s ration was boiling. The smell of meat began to waft out and the soup had been cooked until it was rich and thick. Gu Yuan scooped some into a bowl and returned to Lu Deng. He didn’t let Lu Deng do it himself, instead, he took a spoonful and blew on it to let it cool a bit and then fed it to his lips. “Open your mouth.”

Lu Deng leaned against his chest and opened his mouth obediently. He tried to slowly drink the soup but was overcome by a coughing fit.

The explosive agent he had used was only as a last resort in times of crisis. It wasn’t as safe as the one the system had picked before. After using it, it won’t cause you to sleep for too long, but it will cause the body’s nerves to be abnormally sensitive. It will take at least ten days to half a month for the effects to alleviate.

If it hadn’t been for the system feeding him painkillers one after the other, he would probably have been in so much pain that he wouldn’t have been able to sleep.

However, painkillers could only relieve pain. It cannot dim his over-sensitivity to other sensations. Although the soup he’d been fed was now only warm instead of hot, for him, it was still scalding.

Worry flashed in Gu Yuan’s eyes, but his expression remained calm. His eyes paused for a moment between the young man’s brows, where it could be seen how hard he was trying to bear with it. He scooped up a new spoonful of soup, blew on it until it became cooler and fed him again.

The body cannot deceive.

Lu Zhiguang has been asleep for more than ten hours. He changed their direction halfway and set the patrol ship’s course for thousands of miles away. He carried the young man in his arms and did an airdrop. He then trudged all the way to this abandoned mine pit by following the map. Not once did the young man wake up.

He had tried his best to be gentle the entire way, but even the slightest touch caused unconscious tremors in the boy in his arms.

The teenager’s discomfort was not just due to the gunshot wound.

In the interstellar age, all reaction training can be carried out through simulation systems. Lu Zhiguang’s skills were excellent and his reaction was quick. It was probably because he was still young, his body had yet to fully grow, and so he has not received any special items aimed at improving his physical constitution.

In this case, if he had wanted to forcefully improve his physical fitness in a short amount of time, he must have take some drug with the same severe side effects.

When they get back, he must definitely have the young man undergo a thorough medical examination. No matter what after effects, he must make sure that it is cured completely.

Unwilling to make the other party worry, Lu Deng opened his mouth to take the spoonful of soup, only to find that the temperature was just right. A light glow appeared in his eyes, and he raised his head to look at Gu Yuan.

The young man was reticent, but it also forced Gu Yuan exercise his ability to guess what he was thinking with just a glance. Rubbing the head resting on his shoulder, he softened his expression and said gently, “How is it? Delicious?”

“It’s delicious.”

It’s been a long time since he’s had something decent to eat. Although the taste of the soup was simple, right now it seemed exceptionally delicious.

Lu Deng watched him with a smile, but didn’t take another spoonful. He raised his hand to hold the spoon and then turned it gently, pressing it against of Gu Yuan’s lips.

The pot was full to the brim but given Gu Yuan’s temperament, he wouldn’t have had the mind to eat if he didn’t see him awake.

The last trace of anxiety melted in the smile he saw in the young man’s eyes. Gu Yuan followed his gaze with a faint smile. He bowed his head and drank the soup.

The two of them shared a pot of tinned meat. Gu Yuan patiently blew at it to cool it down before feeding him, coaxing Lu Deng to eat most of it. At the end, he wiped his lips for him. He held the young man and had him lie down once again. He leaned over and checked the boy’s temperature with his cheek.

The wound was not inflamed. This was the only good news.

Having such a heavily tortured prisoner so easily break out of their imprisonment, Guar’s military must be so angry they were giving off steam. He had already once use the ruse of a car crash and explosion to fake his death. However, this time his opponents weren’t as easy to fool as those resistance fighters in his home planet. The Guars would probably turn the entire ground upside down to find him.

This mineral vein was mined under the guidance of one of the Gu Group’s subsidiaries. He recognized the familiar layout as soon as he arrived here and found this well-preserved duty room.

If there was any mishap, they would have more room to maneuver underground than above.

Lu Deng was full. The chill he felt from blood loss and the lingering cold dissipated. Warmly wrapped in a flannel blanket, he squinted his eyes and began to feel sleepy but he still refused to close his eyes to rest.

“Why aren’t you sleeping?”

Gu Yuan rubbed his hair. He held the young man’s hand in his and leaned over to ask him softly.

Lu Deng smiled at him. He held that hand and pulled himself into his arms, his eyes shining with expectation.

Last time he’d wanted his head rubbed, this time he probably wanted to be embraced.

President Gu has summed up from his wealth of experience. After a moment of hesitation, he sat down on the side of the bed and gently took the person into his arms.

He had already made his touch as light as possible, nevertheless, he still heard the young man’s sharp hiss of pain.

Gu Yuan had guessed that they boy’s body was particularly sensitive at this time. Gu Yuan made sure to apply the least amount of pressure possible. He pulled up the blanket to wrap the person tightly. He slowly patted his back and hummed softly a very old tune from his homeland.

Planet Galileo had once been peaceful and abundant with natural resources and it gave rise to a dignified civilization. With the man’s deep and magnetic voice, the distant and desolate tunes spread open a sense of peace and tranquility that had never been burned by the fires of war.

Lu Deng curled up in his arms, waiting for the strange feeling to fade away. He couldn’t help but lean in quietly and rub against the other.

His senses right now were particularly sharp. Although it brought some discomfort, it was also very new and strange. He could feel Gu Yuan’s fast heartbeat, the gentle caress of his breath. After getting used to it, the tiny electric current brought by every touch seemed new and interesting.

In the other’s warm embrace, Lu Deng’s tiredness slowly overcame him. Closing his eyes and leaning down, his forehead slid down into the crook of Gu Yuan’s neck.

Gu Yuan paused his comforting pats. He looked down at the young boy’s features in deep sleep, seemingly unsullied by the fine dust. He tightened his embrace and closed his eyes.

*

After two days of stability underground, the system brought news of new developments.

Trying to keep news of Gu Yuan’s escape was doomed to fail from the start. Galileo learned that he was still alive and they opened formal negotiations. Before the peace talks could start, the hostage must first be returned.

If there was to be no peace talks, Guar’s army will always be pinned down on Planet Galileo. Though it couldn’t be confirmed, it seems that several neighboring planets have already began to take an offensive stance. Planet Guar wouldn’t be able to hold out for long.

Peace talks were already a sort of defeat that never even crossed the Guar’s minds. To return the main culprit of all this was undoubtedly an unbearable shame for Planet Guar.

According to the system’s information, although the Guar military ostensibly agreed to perform a search and rescue for Gu Yuan, they had actually issued a kill order. No matter whether he was found dead or alive, they must not allow a living Gu Yuan to return safely to Galileo.

Under such menace, Planet Galileo decided to send a special envoy to Planet Guar ahead of time to rescue Gu Yuan, under the guise of negotiating peace talks.

However, Planet Guar was also a tiger covetously eyeing its prey. It stepped up its search and monitoring of the vicinity, ready to attack at any time before the two sides could make contact, ready to kill Gu Yuan at all costs.

Danger lurked in every corner and there was barely a slim chance for survival.
