Chapter 6 I’ve got this Tyrant’s back (6)

Lu Deng was caught off guard. He raised his head, opening and closing his mouth to say…But seeing the slight frown lines on Gu Yuan’s brows, his heart softened.

He understood the feeling of being misunderstood and rejected by one’s compatriots. Gu Yuan was outwardly calm, but he must be feeling uneasy inside. At this time, he shouldn’t let his willfulness be a distraction for Gu Yuan.

It’s just buying a few workbooks. Gu Yuan didn’t know how fast he studies. They could just buy it and he’ll work on them slowly.

Holding on to his still cold hand, Lu Deng leaned his body forward, lightly lying between Gu Yuan’s arms, he tapped on the smart computer, choosing a few books that looked relatively thinner. He looked up at the man beside him.

“Is that enough?”

Feeling the teenager’s careful comforting action, the furrows between Gu Yuan’s brows eased. He pressed the other against his bosom and rubbed the head lying against his shoulders. “No need to hold back, you can buy as much as you want. This is an important time for you. If you want to get a good grade in the exams, it’s not enough to do only those easy and basic exercises.”

Unexpectedly, it seems it wasn’t enough.

Lu Deng blinked, took a light breath and hesitated for a moment. He then steeled himself and added five more books, doing so as though he was looking death calmly in the face.

That’s it. No more.

What he has now will probably be enough until he accomplishes the mission in this world.

The quantity of schoolwork remained the same, only the difficulty of it has been increased. Lu Deng couldn’t help feeling a little bit down. Even the fragrant grilled fish that had been served couldn’t bring him much comfort.

Noticing that the young man beside him seemed a little restrained, Gu Yuan seated him by his side and ordered a few extra cakes and snacks. “Eat slowly. We’ll head back when we’re full.”

Even if he could ignore their verbal abuse, he didn’t plan on bumping into those people downstairs again.

The road he was taking was already difficult enough. If he wanted to ensure his success, he must at least be able to ensure that his mentality was no longer affected by any unnecessary emotions.

The grilled fish was grilled until it was nice and crispy, delicious sauce covered it from head to tail. The aroma was rich and enticing and the fish was so tender it simply melts in the mouth.

Good food finally eased the blow he’d received from receiving new homework. Lu Deng ate seriously and Gu Yuan patiently accompanied him. He carefully picked the best pieces of meat, dipped them in the thick and delicious sauce then placed them on the plate in front of him.

Gu Yuan’s gaze fell on the boy’s slightly bulging cheeks as he ate. The coldness that lingered in his heart gradually dissipated. Gu Yuan put down his chopsticks and couldn’t help rubbing the boy’s head gently.

Lu Deng blinked and raised his head. He also chose a piece of cake dotted with chocolate shavings and pushed the plate in front of Gu Yuan.

Gu Yuan didn’t have a habit of eating sweets and he didn’t have much of an appetite right now. Meeting the young boy’s gaze, however, he couldn’t help but gentle his expression and he said warmly, “Thank you.”

“When you’re unhappy, eating something sweet will make you feel better.”

Lu Deng spoke softly and pushed the cake in front of him once again. His expression was serious, even solemn. “It will definitely be all right.”

There was a still a little bit of childlike quality in the young man’s features that had yet to completely fade away. But his sleek, raven-black pupils were extremely firm. Gu Yuan was stunned for a moment, he then smiled lightly, picked up the cake and put it in his mouth.

He has never liked sweets. He wasn’t a very good judge of whether these kind of foods were delicious or not. But just looking at the light in those eyes, he felt like a warm current was flowing through his heart and even the cake has became extra soft and sweet.

If it could continue on like this then life didn’t seem too bad.

*

Lu Deng ate very slowly. He had the system probe the situation downstairs, only when the people downstairs had dispersed did he finish his meal.

Although the members of the Chamber of Commerce have dispersed, their confrontation at that time had been seen by a lot of people. Most of the people in Yuejin Restaurant were local residents of Galileo and no one wanted to have the slightest contact with this businessman who cared for nothing but profits. The restaurant’s wait staff, while still attentive, was also quite frosty in their manner.

Gu Yuan was accustomed to this kind of treatment and he paid it no mind. He led Lu Deng out of the restaurant and bought him a smart computer before taking him back home.

The levitating vehicle passed through the lush silver woods and through several strict scanning barriers before it finally drove through a thick copper gate with ornamental engravings. It stopped outside the door of an exquisite and stylish villa.

The afternoon was sunny and quiet. The light falling through the tall deciduous trees, crisscrossed and painted the villa in patches of light and shade.

The Gu Clan owned several villas. This one had the best security, its surroundings were quiet, however, it was a bit more remote. Gu Yuan only ever comes here to occasionally stay for a few days.

His situation has become more and more sensitive as of late and he needed a place that was both quiet and safe enough. Since he has already made up his mind not to have Lu Deng attend school, having him stay here was very suitable.

For the entire journey, Lu Deng has leaning towards the window looking at the passing scenery. He noticed that the levitating car had descended. He turned his head and looked over at Gu Yuan who had already reached out and taken his schoolbag. “We’re home. Let’s go.”

The villa was very secluded. Only the sound of running water could be heard. They had already arrived but no one came to greet them.

Lu Deng followed him, and couldn’t help but wonder, “Is it only the two of us here?”

Gu Yuan smiled, pulled the boy to stand still. He scanned his iris information into the door’s sensors, raised his hand and pushed the door open. “The place is controlled by smart computer. The cleaning and housework is usually done by machines controlled by the smart computer. They’re more reliable than human workers.”

The fewer the people, the safer. Lu Deng nodded, stepped into the villa, and looked around curiously.

The villa looked small but it was very spacious inside. The sun shone through the half-covered curtains and fell right beside the sofa. The beige carpet was fluffy and the air filled with the fresh and clean fragrance of greenery.

“I’ll come back home every day. If you start feeling lonely during the day, there are books in the study that you’re free to read.”

There was the sound of gentle footsteps behind Lu Deng. Gu Yuan held on to his shoulder, and said in a warm voice, “If there’s anything you want, just let me know and I’ll bring it back for you.”

It seemed that since he was finally home, a great part of the man’s imposing aura had dispersed. Finally, some real fatigue appeared between his brows. However, the gaze he directed at Lu Deng was still as patient and calm as before.

Lu Deng nodded obediently. Seeing how the man’s eyes were turning slightly bloodshot, after a moment of thought, he added, “I’ll be sure to do my homework well.”

A little smile appeared at the bottom of his dark pupils. Gu Yuan rubbed his head and looked out the window.

The sweet smell of the cake seemed to linger in his senses.

*

Lu Deng stayed at the villa.

That order from the Guars had reached its most critical stage. Gu Yuan was getting busier and busier. Despite that, he still come back home every night, even if its only for a few hours of rest before he headed out to a new round of intrigue.

He did this not only to accompany the young man. Gu Yuan knew in his heart that, he was also doing it for him. He found himself looking forward to “going home” more and more.

That light at the entrance hall was on every night. That warm light was hidden from view by the silvery trees. Even though he shouldered so much pressure and criticism outside, this light was always waiting for him in the depths of the dark forest.

Not long ago, he never would have thought that such a trivial thing would become something so important and something that he’d look forward to so much.

The sky was getting dark. The levitating car traveled through the forest. Lights shone through the villa’s windows.

The tension in Gu Yuan’s eyes eased. He stopped the car and sat for a while. He completely held back the coldness and sleekness he used when associating with others outside. He picked up the cake he’s specially bought and got out of the car.

As soon as the door opened, the teenager, who’d been lying on the sofa and doing his homework, got up. His eyes brightened and he threw himself into the other’s arms.

The physical contact between the two of them still hadn’t gone beyond hugs but Gu Yuan was already very content. The boy’s body was warm and tough, and he threw himself into his arms without holding anything back. It might not be very ambiguous, but it was enough to fill his heart.

“I brought you cake. Is there anything you didn’t understand in your homework?”

Putting down the cake, Gu Yuan held Lu Deng’s hand and they sat down on the sofa together, asking after Lu Deng’s homework.

“It’s all done.”

The newly bought exercises were much more difficult than before. There was no way he’d be able to finish them as easily as he did the topics he was already familiar with. Lu Deng could only rely on the system to help him search the star network for the answers, which he then manually copied to his homework.

Lu Deng opened his exercise booklet, letting Gu Yuan check it. He then brought Gu Yuan freshly brewed coffee and leaned on the sofa next to him. “Are you already finished with work for today?”

Gu Yuan smiled and shook his head. He then unbuttoned his collar and ruffled the teenager’s soft hair. “I’m almost done so I came back to accompany you.”

These past few days, he’d been running around busy all the time. His eyes were already completely bloodshot. However his expression at the moment was still effortlessly relaxed. The corners of his lips were also slightly ticked up.

The company has already determined the specific quality of that defective vein of ore and several production lines have been secretly replaced. Only a few trusted subordinates were in the know. The replaced Radium ores will be put into production from tomorrow and will be transported to Planet Guar via a special channel. The only thing that needed to be done now was to ensure that no unexpected incidents occur regarding this order.

Lu Deng’s heart stirred slightly. He blinked and raised his head to meet the other’s gaze.

The target has completed the main task and next was the crucial stage for him to complete his own mission.

The covert replacement of the Radium ore was the main plot line for this part of the story. As long as there’s no interference, this shouldn’t be noticed. But it’s from this point, that Gu Yuan’s fate was thrown into a whirlpool. The enraged Galileans would regard him as a traitor who cared only for profit. Everyone would mock and ridicule him, wanting nothing more than to see him dead.

From now on, as soon as Gu Yuan takes one step out of the villa, danger would follow him like a shadow.

Gu Yuan was undoubtedly also aware of this fact.

Looking at Gu Yuan’s tired dark eyes that were filled with unreserved gladness, Lu Deng pursed his lips, took the other’s hand, raised his head and said softly, “It’s too boring in the house. Can I go out with you?”

Gu Yuan couldn’t help being slightly startled. The young man rarely ever made any requests. He spread his arms wide and gathered the young man against his chest. Stroking his hair, he said gently, “It’s not safe outside right now. I’ll try come home as often as possible, okay?”

Not surprisingly, Gu Yuan refused. Lu Deng pursed his lips. He leaned his body over Gu Yuan’s broad shoulders and tightened his arms slightly.

He secretly pulled out the amulet and used his movements to press it against Gu Yuan’s slightly exposed neckline. The system quickly recorded the other’s genetic information. The system worked fast and in an instant, it was already halfway done.

Lu Deng’s iris information could open the villa’s doors but only Gu Yuan’s genetic code could open the outside perimeter’s entrance and allow him to smoothly leave the property.

To be able to protect to other party, Lu Deng needed to at least be able to rush over as soon as Gu Yuan encountered any mishap.

The system’s professional skills were superb and within the span of a few breaths, it had already completely recorded the needed information. Lu Deng breathed a sigh of relief. He was about to straighten up when he was suddenly firmly embraced. A slightly hoarse, low voice sounded in his ear. “Sorry.”

Every day when he returned home, that familiar figure would be waiting for him on the sofa. That delicate face would always have on a nice smile. He always felt relieved. It turns out, this young boy has a stable and smooth temperament and could withstand feeling lonely.

But even if he could stand living a lonesome life, he was still trapped within this villa.

Originally, their contract had been for a ‘kept-man’ contract, but now it seemed that he begun imprisoning him instead.

Gu Yuan’s chest felt constricted and his arms couldn’t help tightening. He slowly stroked the young man’s back, his voice becoming more and more muted. “Sorry…”

Vaguely aware that there seemed to have been a misunderstanding, Lu Deng blinked. When the arms around him relaxed slightly, he stood up and wanted to speak, but Gu Yuan’s smart computer suddenly beeped with a special notification.

Gu Yuan’s expression suddenly became alert. He let go of Lu Deng and opened his smart computer. He looked at the message and the look in his eyes darkened.

Planet Guar’s military was suddenly holding a banquet. The time was for tonight and their intention for the invitation was unclear. Gu Yuan couldn’t afford any mistakes during this crucial period. Even if this turns out to be a Hongmen Feast, he had no choice but to rush over there as soon as possible.

For a moment, what he was about to say rose to his throat, but meeting the youth’s dark and sleek pupils, the words were suddenly choked back.

Gu Yuan pondered for a moment and finally made up his mind. He said slowly, “Today we will go to a hotel. When we get there, I’ll be attending a banquet. You’ll wait for me in the room, okay?”

Lu Deng’s eyes lit up and he nodded immediately. Gu Yuan reluctantly pursed his lips. He rubbed the boy’s hair and told him to change his clothes. He led him out of the villa and they got into the levitating car.

*

Arriving at the appointed hotel, Gu Yuan booked a room first and set Lu Deng up there. He then went down to the banquet hall to attend Planet Guar’s feast.

After Gu Yuan left, Lu Deng turned on the system and wanted to start the investigation. Suddenly an alarm bell rang in his mind. “Be careful, host! Today, the target has drank alcohol!”

“What’s wrong about drinking alcohol?”

It has been a while since he’d last heard the alarm. Lu Deng rubbed his tingling temples. He lowered the volume, and asked doubtfully.

Of course, there’s everything wrong with that!

The system was worried and posted dozens of host diaries for him. “Comprehensive statistics show that the probability of drunken misconduct is more than 47%. The target’s physical qualities and stamina are excellent. He may take advantage of his intoxication to pounce on the host, take your clothes off and have an penetrative exchange—”

It was rare for the system to have found a set of words that wouldn’t be censored out. These days, Lu Deng has also managed to get an understanding of what it meant by ‘penetrative exchange’. He raised his hand to touch the amulet and stealthily turned it, lowering the volume by one more notch. “It’s okay. He won’t drink until he’s completely drunk.”

“…He might even make the host act on your own!”

The system tenaciously finished what he had to say. The buffering icon went anxiously round and round. “I request the host to please remain vigilant. Take self-protection measures and turn on the system protection function!”

“Don’t worry. Help me with my homework first. I’ll call you if something goes wrong.”

Compared with being pounced on, the threat of homework was greater. Lu Deng had a very clear grasp of the current situation. He patted the amulet, trying to soothe it and forced the system back to focus on the questions that it had just scanned. “Don’t worry, I can protect myself.”

Exercise questions have taken up 90% of the system’s memory and it had no way to respond in time. The system was so worried that its code almost garbled. However, it was forced to wade into the sea of knowledge, and it went silent for a while.

Lu Deng sat back on the sofa and turned on the target’s life signs monitor.

There was definitely an ulterior motive behind this invitation to the banquet. The Guars don’t fully trust Gu Yuan and might have invited him to try and probe him out.

Lu Deng wasn’t worried about Gu Yuan laying a hand on him. However, he needed to promptly prevent the other from encountering any mishaps.

Seconds and minutes passed, Gu Yuan’s life level remained stable. The sky outside the window was already very dark. Lu Deng yawned softly. His vision blurred for a moment but he suddenly jolted into alertness.

Gu Yuan’s life level, which had always been above 95, suddenly changed. It fell below 80 in an instant, then returned to near 90, still fluctuating up and down.

Although it hadn’t dipped too low, something must have happened.

His heart tightened a bit. Lu Deng pursed his lips and pondered for a moment. He propped up his body, planning on climbing out the window to take a look. But, suddenly, the door to the room was slammed open, and a familiar figure staggered in.

Lu Deng quickly strode over and firmly supported the shaky man.

Gu Yuan’s skin was a little hot, and his body reeked of alcohol. He clasped the boy’s arm tightly and closed the door backhandedly. Staggering, he pulled the young man onto the bed. Leaning over, he firmly covered the other.

Lu Deng let himself be pushed down. He raised his hand to support Gu Yuan’s chest faintly trembling from fear, his eyes filled with silent concern.

Holding the boy between his arms, Gu Yuan breathed heavily and silently lipped, “Trust me?”

Lu Deng nodded and turned to the window. Outside the translucent curtains, a figure flashed quickly behind the wall.

“Don’t be scared……”

Seeing that he’d also noticed that there was someone outside, Gu Yuan’s heart slightly relaxed. His eyes filled with pained apology, his strength suddenly increased and turned reckless. Without any warning, he pulled open Lu Deng’s top, leaning down to cover the youth’s pale neck.

His movements were a bit unstable. His life signs were still fluctuating. Lu Deng quietly held that hand, his eyes were warm, calm and reassuring. He shook his head gently.

Just to let the person outside see, Gu Yuan tore both of their clothes off. With their bodies entangled, he had pushed the button to close the blackout curtains. His movements also instantly stopped.

Lu Deng supported Gu Yuan’s powerless, toppled over body. Cold liquid suddenly dripped on his cheeks. He raised his head and was about to speak, but the weight between his arms suddenly sank.

Gu Yuan’s eyes were tightly shut. His hot forehead was pressed against Lu Deng’s neck, and he passed out silently.
