Chapter 38: Two shadows in one night.
Tang Yue had not been in contact with Mo Liang all day, and she was very uncomfortable about it. When they were in space, they were attached at the hip whenever they were not attending to their duties.
Not a day had gone by without them sharing many stolen kisses.
On earth, things seemed to be a little different. It had been one trouble after another since their return and they had only shared a few hugs. Mo Liang was busy throwing his popularity around or talking about Mei Mei and his big plan to win her back again so that he could take the rest of her money.
Tonight, she was determined to make him spend the night at her apartment so set the atmosphere for romance.
Candlelight, mellow music, flowers, scented oils and some lingerie. When Mo Liang arrived at her apartment, half drunk after celebrating his successful return with his old friends he was welcomed by the sight of a seductive looking Tang Yue.
"A Yang," she called out coquettishly as her hands went around his neck. "We have not done it since we returned. Can you stay with me tonight?"
She did not have to request, Mo Liang was willing to stay. He had been willing to stay as soon as he set his eyes on her.
As they rocked the bed as hard as they could, a small spider camera was recording and the footage was sent to Mei Mei on a mini laptop she had bought from the system for two points.
There was a time when she could have possibly cried while watching her husband moan another woman’s name so passionately but those days were long gone. Watching them grunt like pigs in estrus made her feel more disgusted than disappointed.
She closed the laptop and turned her attention to the virtual screen. Mei Mei was planning to go out but first, she needed some tools.
"System, I need something that can help me knock out the power of a building."
"What are you planning?" C4 asked.
Mei Mei touched the bed, one of her fingers found the divorce papers which Mo Liang had given her. "These papers are incomplete, that sly bastard left out some things. I know Mo Liang quite well and he is not the kind that will admit the divorce was his fault. He is a fame whore who will want to come out of this mess looking like an angel so he will want to smear my name and paint me as the cause of the divorce. The reason for divorce in these papers is not mentioned and I need to find out what he is hiding."
"You can purchase an EMP from me but be warned, this is not a regular earth made EMP. It is capable of creating a shock wave that will cripple the entire city for an hour." C4 showed her the EMP he was talking about.
"I said one building, two or three maximum and it should not bring any falling cars falling out of the sky."
"I can make some adjustments, give me ten minutes." It responded. frёewebηovel.cѳm
She nodded and stood up, changed into a black bodysuit jumpsuit. She had not worn anything like it in seven years and the reason was of course none other than Mo Liang. He had told her to look less like a slut and more like the wife of a CEO and space pilot.
Mei Mei took a moment to admire herself in the mirror. "I look good, oh, that damn Mo Liang. I can’t believe I allowed him to dictate how I dressed, ate and who I was friends with."
Thinking of friends made her wince, he had made her cut off contact with all her friends, calling them a bad influence.
"There was no difference between you and someone in a cult." C4 commented.
Mei Mei scoffed. She found the nearest window and sneaked out of the house. It was easy for her leaping from one balcony to the other because she had been a gymnast since childhood. Muscle memory was still active, even though she felt some pain.
Two shadows sneaked out of the house as roughly the same time, one was hers and the other was Mo Jingzhe’s. The two did not meet as each took a different direction, rushing to do their missions and return home.
Mei Mei took a taxi and it dropped her off at a cafe that was closest to the building where Mo Liang’s lawyers office was located.
His lawyer was from one of the best law firms in the nation, MinWoo United Law Firm. It was located in a bustling downtown area in the city. The surrounding areas were vibrant, a mix of shopping centers, restaurants, a stadium and office buildings. In the stadium, a concert was ongoing so the roads around were packed to the brim as was the air space above.
The sound of impatient honking in the sky was more annoying than impatient honking of cars on the ground. Noise pollution was one of the reasons why some people were opting to move to less crowded cities.
Mei Mei was not bothered by the noise, like many other people, she had put noise filters in her ears and on her eyes a pair of CosmoView glasses which restricted unwanted light and connected to the internet and virtual games. More than half of the world’s population used these glasses on a daily basis.
There was talk about a company that had found a way of creating small eye lens that could do this same thing. However, they had to be installed through surgery on the eye.
Mei Mei was not thinking about the gadgets, she made her way into a bathroom in a shopping center and activated the EMP. Power in three buildings was suddenly lost.
Not wasting a moment, she made her way to the office building which was mostly empty. It was easy to by pass the guards that were as confused as most people in the area about the blackout.
She took the emergency stairs, to the offices of the law firm which were empty as all employees had gone home. It was a quarter to midnight, she had already anticipated that the office would be empty.
Mei Mei pushed the door open and C4 guided her to the office she was seeking. Inside, the system scanned through documents for the one with her name and found it.
"So simple!" she gasped.
She had not had to search the entire room or riffle through the many documents in the office. Having a system was awesome.
She sat down in a chair and took a closer look at the documents using a light emitted from the CosmoView glasses.
"Don’t look so hard, I have already scanned the document found what you need and highlighted it. I suggest we start escaping now because security guards are going to do a manual search through the building and over a dozen police cars are on their way to investigate the blackout."
Mei Mei had studied the structure of the building. From a bathroom window, she could climb a pipe and slide down from the fourth floor of the building where the offices were.
On the way to the bathroom however, she bumped into a cleaning lady that was existing it.
