Chapter 196: When I’m done

"What do you want from me? I don't have any wealth. I don't have any treasures that I can give you. I don't even have any influence at the Academy that can be used by you."

"You don't have to worry about your influence. When I am done, no one would dare to claim that they have more influence than you in the Academy, including the descendants of big families."

Elias didn't want any treasures. He didn't even want any wealth or influence. He already had enough of it. What he wanted was a somewhat blank slate, which was exactly what the boy had.

"You..." The boy raised his head, finding Elias's words strange. His eyes looked through the gaps in his disheveled hair with suspicion.

"There is only one thing I want from you," Elias said, ignoring the suspicious look.

"And what is that?"

"Just stay in this place, and don't create any trouble. In this place, you won't lack food to eat. You can also read the books that are available here to keep you entertained."

"You just want me to stay here? For how long?"

"I am not certain. Maybe a few months? Or maybe longer. It's an unknown territory for me as well. So I can't answer for certain."

"If I go missing, won't the Academy try to find me?"

"You don't have to worry about that either. I will take care of it." Elias pointed at his face. "The Academy won't even know that you went missing."

"You..." The boy raised a brow. "So that's why you need to keep me hostage. You want to take my identity at the Academy. I don't know what you are planning, but I will cooperate. I only need one promise from you."

"To not touch your family?"

"To not touch my family."

Elias and the boy spoke at the same time, but the essence of their words were the same.

"As long as you stay here like a good boy, you don't have to worry about the safety of your family." Elias stood up, having reached an understanding with the boy faster than he expected.

Just as he had thought, the easiest way to convince someone was to use threats. No one wanted to lose things that were most precious to them.

It was a weakness that everyone had, irrespective of the fact if they were humans or gods. Only people like him, who had already lost everything that they truly cherished, were free of this weakness.

Elias waved his hand, and many delicious dishes appeared on the table. "You can try eating it if you are hungry, unless you're worried about it being poisoned."

"If you want me dead, you can kill me already. You won't have to go as far as to poison me." The boy stood up. The chains around his hands made noise when he walked closer to the table.

"I will come here regularly to check up on you. So I will remind you one more time. Don't do anything stupid." Elias opened the door and left the room.

The boy watched the door being closed. He was left all alone in this place, not even knowing how long he was actually going to be imprisoned for.

....

After separating from the boy, Elias stepped inside another structure that was inside the Shadow Realm. It was the lab that belonged to his brother.

Inside the lab, he saw his brother who was still seething in pain. He hadn't been able to sleep a single second for weeks, as the torment kept him awake.

His skin had turned completely dark, and there were wrinkles all over his body. He had aged a lot in the last few weeks, and even his hair had turned white. He looked like an eighty year old, with the physique of a teenager.

"How have you been doing, brother?" Elias walked closer to Dreke, whose eyes had lost any focus, but he was still struggling like a wild beast.

His lifeless eyes only reacted when they heard Elias's voice, and seemed to regain focus for a brief moment before returning to the usual state due to pain.

"I did promise you that I would grant you death when I reach earth. But looking at your state, why is it that I want to keep you alive longer? Is it because killing you here is too merciful for you?"

"Or is it because..." He mumbled something, but he didn't complete his sentence. He turned his back on his brother and walked over to the desk.

He started playing with other poisonous materials, and filled the syringe once more before returning to Dreke.

He slowly inserted the syringe in his resisting brother's arm, and emptied it in an instant.

He kept the syringe back on the desk, and left the lab, but not before further reinforcing his brother's shackles, along with the table on which he was lying.

After leaving the shadow realm, Elias extracted the sleep poison from the body of the other children.

He tied his own hands, although in a shabby manner. After he finished, he lied on the ground and closed his eyes.

The children of the Creator Class slowly started waking up. All of them had lost their Summoned Beasts, and their class abilities were sealed by the bracelet. But a few of them still had higher strength than ordinary people.

They quickly broke off the rope that tied their hands, using raw strength. They also freed the other children that couldn't free themselves.

Elias also matched the timing, and 'woke up' right around that time. He pretended to break off the ropes, and stood up.

"Where are we?" A girl asked, rubbing her forehead. "I remember fighting that damned Ashborn child. Did he leave us alive?"

"Hmph, did you think he would kill us? He must have been scared. Even if he's an Ashborn, he can't kill too many people, or he would offend everyone."

"Isn't he the one who killed a Professor? Would he really be scared of killing too many of us here?"

"Of course he would. Isn't there a difference between a mere professor, and us? I am a descendant of a Founding Family. I have a backing that a mere professor doesn't."
