Chapter 1200 -1199 Visiting the Sick

After being admitted to the hospital, the doctors and nurses took very good care of Shu Pan.

Since she had just been hospitalized, she needed to have a series of checks and tests done.

That evening, as Shu Pan noticed the sky outside growing dark, she reminded Gu Shaoting to go home since there were still two children there.

But Gu Shaoting refused, his mind was hardly at home; he wanted to be by Shu Pan’s side every minute.

“Don’t worry about that, I’ve already spoken to mom, and she will take care of the children tonight. She wanted to come over, but I said no, it’s late. She can come during the day,” Gu Shaoting said indifferently.

“Why tell mom? She will be very worried,” Shu Pan furrowed her brow.

“She would have found out eventually. I told her you’re feeling a bit unwell and needed a check-up,” Gu Shaoting replied truthfully.

Shu Pan nodded; her mother-in-law had always been a free spirit, and she truly didn’t want to cause her any worry.

Just as Gu Shaoting was about to say something else, someone suddenly knocked on the hospital room door.

Although Gu Shaoting was a bit wary, he still went to open the door.

A figure rushed in like a gust of wind, “Cousin-in-law, how are you feeling now?”

Gu Shaoting fixed his gaze, and with a bit of speechlessness, recognized it was Gu Huanhuan.

“Huanhuan, you’re here? I’m fine, just here for a check-up,” Shu Pan said with a smile.

“What do you mean you’re fine? How could you keep it from me too?” Gu Huanhuan said indignantly.

“I didn’t want to worry you, and besides, we don’t yet know what’s going on,” Shu Pan hurriedly explained.

“What about Wen Chi when you dashed over here?” Gu Shaoting asked.

“He’s on duty. I haven’t settled the score with him yet. He knew about your situation, cousin-in-law, but he didn’t tell me,” Gu Huanhuan said angrily.

It was Song Can who told Huanhuan about Shu Pan’s illness. Later, when she mentioned it to Wen Chi over the phone, Wen Chi fell silent, revealing that he had known all along.

“Don’t blame him; it was me who told him not to speak of it. He’s a doctor, and I wanted his opinion on the results,” Shu Pan thought to herself, Oh dear, I had wanted to keep it from everyone, but now they all know.

“Don’t make excuses for him. He deserves to be scolded. Can’t he prioritize what’s more urgent?” Gu Huanhuan really felt like cursing.

“Alright, I’m fine for now, so don’t be angry,” Shu Pan said with a smile.

Gu Huanhuan placed the fruit basket on the bedside table and looked at Shu Pan in her hospital gown, feeling a wave of sadness in her heart.

Her cousin-in-law was always such a kind and good person; she didn’t deserve any of this. Heaven shouldn’t treat her this way.

It must be a misdiagnosis, or maybe they got the results mixed up.

Gu Huanhuan had been unable to come to terms with the news since she’d heard it that evening.

It was too unexpected.

Her heart was silently praying that her cousin-in-law would be alright.

As she thought this, Gu Huanhuan’s eyes began to redden slightly.

But she held back her tears.

Seeing Huanhuan’s expression, Shu Pan comforted her, “The doctor said my condition isn’t bad at all. Really, don’t worry. By the way, have you been filming lately? I’m really looking forward to your new show.”

In the past year, Gu Huanhuan had returned to family life and seldom acted in films, hardly taking up any showbiz engagements.

She had become quite disillusioned with the entertainment industry, with its pervasive unsaid rules. She originally acted out of interest.

But fighting tooth and nail over roles took away that interest.

If the script was challenging and featured a role she had never played before, she might consider trying it out.

But if the role was just another cliché sweet-naïve girl, she’d rather stay at home with her daughter.
