Chapter 575: He Yao’s True Purpose
His composure was unnervingly deep, making one wonder how someone could run the Underground Alliance in just over twenty years without being ordinary.
The only possibility was that he had something to rely on, firmly believing that even if he were caught, he would not be in danger.
Feng Ye did not look at the people inside the car and fell into deep thought.
If these bombs weren’t his trick, then what was his purpose?
He racked his brains but couldn’t figure it out.
Yun Yue also realized that things might not be so simple. Nan Jingchen had already disassembled the bombs, and they were not as powerful as He Yao had claimed — they could only cause a small explosion within a few meters at most.
Xiao Chen and Yun Yue looked at each other, their eyes gradually darkening.
Xiao Chen furrowed his brows, "You’ve noticed it too?"
Yun Yue nodded slightly, "He Yao’s goal must have been to kidnap my mother, but he must have another purpose. If these bombs were just a smokescreen to delay us, what was it for?"
No one could figure it out.
"We’ll eventually find out what he’s up to," Xiao Chen held her hand tightly, relieved that she was safe.
However, he was still somewhat restless, always feeling that something big was about to happen, perhaps related to He Yao’s plan.
"That’s true, we’ll face whatever comes, and his scheming will surely be shattered," Yun Yue’s eyes narrowed with a hint of coldness.
After eliminating all dangers, Beijing gradually regained order. Tang Wenjing and Cang Leng personally escorted He Yao to the Military Association’s prison.
Yun Yue made a phone call to Xiao Bai, "Xiao Bai, how is everything there? Are they all safe?"
Xiao Bai: "Very safe, boss. Did you catch He Yao?"
"We caught him, but I suspect he still has a scheme. Keep them safe, I’ll inform you when the crisis is fully resolved," Yun Yue pinched her furrowed brow.
They were the ones she was most worried about.
"Alright." Xiao Bai hung up the phone, startling the two behind him.
With a stern and solemn gaze, Ji Xian looked at Xiao Bai and asked, "What’s the situation?"
Xiao Bai: "They are fine, but the boss suspects they still have a plot. She wants you to stay here a bit longer."
"That’s good to hear," Ji Xian’s lingering worries eased, "Staying a bit longer is not a problem, but you have to report to me every day."
He couldn’t help much, going out would only cause them trouble, but he couldn’t sleep well without seeing Yue.
"Okay, I will definitely keep you updated," Xiao Bai said with a smile.
**
Yun Yue planned to first hold a meeting to summarize the operation. However, en route, she received news that Lab D had been attacked.
Everyone immediately rushed to Lab D.
Fortunately, it was Saturday, and the students were on holiday. He Yao’s men did not harm the students but targeted Lab D.
With a gritted teeth, Jiang Qi said, "We finally know what that bastard’s intention was! The timed bombs were a bluff; his goal was Lab D!"
"What’s in Lab D?" Yun Yue couldn’t help but ask.
Jiang Qi shook his head, "Whatever could be taken in the form of prescriptions or the special medicines developed by Ghost Doctor had been taken away by him. His own lab has more medicines than Lab D, who knows what else there is in Lab D worth his attention!"
Jiang Qi was also aware of the S-grade secrets of Lab D, aside from the events from twenty-thirty years ago, and all that remained were the pharmaceutical formulas developed by Ghost Doctor.
Yun Yue fell silent for a moment. She had spent some time in the Underground Alliance’s laboratory. If all those viruses were researched and manufactured at He Yao’s instigation, could Laboratory D also be harboring viruses?!
They soon arrived at Laboratory D. Since there were no guards at Laboratory D, only a few security personnel—who had already been sacrificed—all the doors had been vandalized.
Fortunately, it was Saturday and no one was working.
"Professor Wang!" Jiang Qi rushed forward to check the injuries of Professor Wang, who had been shot and was unconscious. He had been shot in the right shoulder, but his life was not in danger.
Watching him being lifted onto the ambulance, Jiang Qi couldn’t help but speak, "Even on holidays, Professor Wang would come to work overtime. Luckily, that shot was not fatal."
"Let’s go inside and see," Yun Yue said, heading towards Laboratory D. The main doors of Laboratory D were blast-proof, and as they walked in, the doors showed no damage whatsoever.
Feng Ye’s expression was grave: "There’s a mole in Laboratory D; someone must have helped them open the door."
Yun Yue observed her surroundings all the way. The external laboratories and computers were undamaged, not at all resembling the scene of an accident.
She went straight inside to where S-class secrets were stored. The door was also open, and only S-class Professor Wang had access here.
If it were anyone else, Jiang Qi would never allow anyone in, even if the secret room had been stolen into, but this person was Yun Yue.
Before she even entered, she detected a foul smell so nauseating it made her gag, followed by frothing at the mouth.
Yun Yue realized something was wrong and held her breath immediately: "The gas is toxic, hold your breath!"
"What happened?!" Feng Ye sensed that something was wrong and immediately covered his nose, walking over to inspect. He saw ten gas cylinders continuously spraying white mist, which merged with the air and was inhaled by them, causing nausea, weakness, vomiting, and fainting.
Or rather, not just fainting, but complete death.
"Damn it! How could Laboratory D have such dirty things?!" Jiang Qi covered his mouth and nose, cursing upon seeing those canisters.
Yun Yue assessed the surroundings: "This is a room within a room; these poison gas canisters have always been hidden here!"
"What do we do now?! We absolutely cannot let this poison gas leak out!"
Everyone was extremely anxious.
Xiao Chen narrowed his eyes, wondering what He Yao had done in Laboratory D.
Why did he even produce poison gas!
"We’ll retreat first and then blow it up!"
The best solution was to keep this poison gas buried underground forever.
"No way!" Yun Yue immediately objected, "The poison gas has already leaked. Even if we blow up the laboratory and bury it underground, it will seep into the air. We must turn off the valves on these poison gas canisters!"
"How do we shut them?! Even from this distance, it’s causing issues, and getting any closer would be lethal!" Jiang Qi struggled to suppress his discomfort.
Yun Yue turned to Jiang Qi: "Do we have gas masks?!"
"Ah! Yes, yes, yes! How could I forget that!" Jiang Qi hurriedly ran out, but before he had gone far, his legs gave way, and he knelt on the ground.
"Damn it!" He leaned on the wall to stand up, his consciousness gradually blurring, and he had to bite his tongue to keep himself alert.
Feng Ye hurried over. Seeing him foaming at the mouth, he panicked, carrying him towards the outside.
"Quick, tell me where the gas masks are?! I’ll get you out!"
Compared to Jiang Qi, Feng Ye was slightly better, as he had been outside when he discovered the poison gas and hadn’t inhaled too much.
"Don’t... don’t worry about me, go get the gas masks, straight ahead and take a left in the storage room..." Jiang Qi said, then passed out completely, continuously foaming at the mouth.
