Chapter 305 The Contract
Hunter's POV
"Are you sure that plan of yours would work, Hunter?" Calixto asked me as he sat beside me on the sofa of our mansion in Archois holding his glass of scotch.
"I wished to keep my family safe, especially Madeline and my son. I know my sister will never hurt my mom and sister." I responded.
"I know you are doubting my plans and you will try to stop me, but I will do everything I can to protect Madeline," I replied.
"What I don't understand is Charlotte's hatred toward my wife. My brother has been dead and so did our father, but my sister was still harboring her anger inside her heart, and she wanted to hurt my wife." I added.
"Come on, Hunter, that is the stupidest idea I had ever heard." He responded and my face fell.
"Is that what you think?" I asked as I leaned my back on my seat while Cal was nodding his head.
"Of course, how could you formulate this thing? You must be exhausted that you came up to this unbelievable idea of yours, you could have asked your wife; I am sure Madeline could help you." He replied.
"Well, I am here now, I think I should talk with Jack and I should never tell you about this," I said, and he laughed that I felt so irritated with Calixto, and then I heard knocking on the front door and I know Cerila was on it since she was still living in this house with her mother.
Cerila was working in the Divenson company and we let her family stay in our mansion for free, I know how much my wife loves her, and that is why I offer this place to them, and I am glad they took good care of our place.
"Mr. Divenson, Jack is here," Cerila said and I stood up and smiled at Jack before I offered my hand to him while I could see Calixto's face turned solemn as he watched us.
"You may go now, Cal, I am sure your wife is waiting for you at home," I said and he hastily stood up from his seat.
"Of course, but Hunter, I am against your plan, and as your assistant for so many years, you have to, believe me, it will never work." He responded as he looked me in the eyes.
"Thank you so much for your unsolicited advice, Cal," I replied, and I could see the hurt that registered on his face.
"Goodbye, Mr. Divenson, Jack, it is nice to see you," Calixto said before he left Jack and me in the living room. I motioned Jack to sit down and I didn't waste my time, I told him why I ask him to come into our house.
"Three Million Dollars?" Jack asked while his eyes widened in shock.
"Yes, take it or leave it," I said, and I could tell he was trying to process what I had said.
"You will pay me that big amount of money? And all I have to do is cook meals for someone who is living in one of your properties in the north?" He asked, and I nodded my head.
"Yeah, for one year! But you have to stay there with her for one whole year, you will be her cook and driver." I added.
"Once the contract expired, you will get the whole amount, upon contract sighing I would be giving you fifty-thousand dollars as a bonus. You will have a monthly allowance of thirty-thousand dollars aside from the contract amount. I will give you a copy of the contract after you signed it, you may come to my office tomorrow to finalize our deal." I declared.
"Wow! That amount is so tempting, Hunter, but I am not stupid, I don't understand why you have to pay me this amount of money, I don't get it man, who is this person?" He asked, and I let out a heavy sigh.
"It is my sister, Charlotte," I responded and I could see how his face fell.
"Charlotte? Come on, Hunter, I don't like your sister, I hated her for hurting Madeline so many times," he replied.
"That is why I am asking you to do it, Jack, you are the only person I can think of; I know you are still suffering from a broken heart from your break up with Gina, but I need your help," I begged him.
"I am sorry, man, this is crazy, and about my break up with Gina, you don't need to worry about what happened to us, it was our mutual decision, and to be honest, I am more relieved that she broke up with me and told me, she fell in love with someone else in Neospoli." He declared, and I didn't expect Gina had someone, and I wondered who could it be.
"Oh, I am sorry, Jack," I mumbled. f𝐫ee𝘄ℯ𝚋no𝐯𝐞l.c𝘰m
"Don't be, I am fine, the truth is I am not even sure if I was the right person for Gina, I am sorry to tell you this, but I courted her because of Madeline, but don't get me wrong, Hunter, Gina is a great person, and I had loved her, but I don't think we are meant to be," Jack responded.
"Of course, there is nothing I can do with your decision, Jack," I replied.
"With regards to what I am offering to you, maybe you will think it over, I knew you hated my sister too, but I believed she still has hope, Jack, I want to help her," I said.
"I don't want to see my mother in pain, Jack, and I am afraid if we don't stop Charlotte, she will do something to Maddie and our son. I don't want that to happen." I said.
"I think I am not the one your sister needs, Hunter, she needs a psychologist, she needs help," Jack answered.
"No, she needed someone who will love her," I replied, and he arched his eyebrows as he gave me a
quizzical look.
"Hunter, I can't believe you man, you are paying me to make your sister fall in love with me?" Jack asked.
"What made you think I will like your evil sister?" He asked, and my face saddened.
"Do you think Charlotte is capable of loving someone?" He asked another question while I was trying to find the right words to convince him.
"Trust me on this Jack, I knew there was some point in her life that she likes you, I heard her talking with Kaye, but Charlotte knew you were in love with Madeline at that time and it made her furious," I responded.
"But I can't be the man who will love her, Hunter," he stated.
"Yeah, I know Jack, all you have to do is make her fall for you, and when she does, try to bring her back to us, I know she is still capable of loving and changing her views in life, and I know you can help her, Jack." I insisted.
"I am not sure if I can do that," he softly responded.
"Well, you have to do this for my wife, Jack," I begged and he looked at me for a long time.
"You are crazy, Hunter," he declared.
"Yeah, I know, I am, but I am willing to do anything for my wife," I replied.
"What if it will not work out?" He asked.
"I will still pay you, just finished the contract," I responded, and he let out a heavy sigh.
"Let me think about it," he said as he stood up.
"I will wait for you in my office tomorrow," I said and he nodded his head and walked away from me while I let out a heavy sigh hoping Jack will come and agree with my terms.
"How are you, my love?" Madeline asked right away the moment she answered my call.
"Everything is under control, my love, you don't need to worry about anything, I will be home the day after tomorrow, I miss you like crazy, Maddie," I responded and she giggled.
"Me too, I miss you so much, and our son misses you too, take care always, Hunter, and come back to us soon." My wife sweetly said and just hearing her voice makes me miss her more.
I took a shower after I said goodbye to Madeline and ended the call. I kept turning in my bed, and I find it hard to sleep thinking about Jack's decision, he is my only hope in keeping my wife safe.
"Mr. Divenson, someone named Jack is here to see you," one of the secretaries said on the trunkline, and I felt relieved that he came.
"Let him in," I responded and put the phone down.
"Good morning, Jack, thanks for coming," I said.
"Good morning, Hunter, you know why I am here. I wanted to expand my restaurant, and now, I got my answer, I asked my mother to look after my restaurant while I am away, I told her you asked me to be your chef for one year, please, don't tell my mother I will be serving Charlotte." Jack declared.
"Don't worry, this is only between us, Jack, you will also sign a non-disclosure agreement, let us wait for the legal counsel of the company; he was on his way. You can review the contract and have it signed, and then you are ready to go." I stated.
"You don't need to pack anything, I ordered you clothes needed for your whole stay, a chopper will take you there, "I added.
The lawyer came and we talked and discussed the terms with Jack, and it was almost dinner time when he had done signing the contract and I handed him the check in the amount of fifty-thousand dollars. I watched Jack walk away from my office feeling hopeful that everything will work out according to my plan.
