Chapter 93: The Arcade 2
Seeing how easily he shot the ball into the hoop, she stood there in shock.
Every time Jeff touched the ball, it went in perfectly. No rim, no bounce it’s just a clean swish straight through the net.
Jessica stared at Jeff as he casually picked up another ball again and, with the same relaxed motion, flicked it toward the hoop. ƒreewebɳovel.com
Then another point lit up.

"Wait, what..." Jessica muttered under her breath.
She decided to step slightly to the side offering his space to maneuver as she watched him continue.
At first, Jeff’s throws were relaxed, almost casual like he was just getting a feel for the game.
His form was clearly off since his elbow flared a bit too wide, his stance lacked proper balance, and his follow-through was far from textbook.
It was obvious he wasn’t familiar with the rhythm of arcade basketball also even basketball in general.
And yet those shots kept going in.
One after another, the balls flew into the hoop with near-perfect precision. No wild bounces, no awkward flukes.
The control was complete insane it was like his body was adapting in real time, recalibrating with each throw, adjusting every motion down to the tiniest detail.
Swish~
Swish~
...
His accuracy was perfectly insane, as the game timer ticked down, the machine beeped continuously as the ball started rolling faster.
Since his speed wasn’t too slow, as the timer ticked down, the machine beeped and Jeff was a bit surprised to see the net start moving from side to side.
"There’s actually something like this?" he muttered inwardly.
This was his first time playing an arcade game like this.
There were a few occasions when he had tried playing, but it’s not basketball since this had not existed in that time yet.
Also it happened so long ago during his childhood that he couldn’t clearly remember the details.
Jessica had already stepped back as Jeff picked up his pace. His hands moved in a steady rhythm.
It was toss, grab, shoot then again, toss, grab, shoot. The shots weren’t just lucky since they were perfectly calculated, each ball hitting the center.
It was clean and precise, one after another sinking into the hoop without fail.

The scoreboard kept climbing as the numbers ticking up with every perfect swish.
His body moved as if it had instantly adapted to the game’s tempo. His eyes were in absolute focused, even his breathing was calm.
Jessica stood there, slack-jawed, with her arms hanging limply at her sides. She wasn’t even trying to hide her amazement anymore.
But then, in the moment she blinked, she noticed something in her surroundings. She wasn’t actually alone.
A small crowd had begun to gather.
"Wow, this big brother is amazing," a teenager standing nearby said in awe.
Another boy leaned closer to his friend and spoke, "Did you see that form? It looked totally normal, nothing flashy, but every shot went in!"
A group of middle schoolers huddled together, watching in awe.
"Bro’s insane. I’ve been standing here since before he started, and he already got that many points!"
Even the girls in the area had turned their heads, clearly drawn in by more than just his shooting skills.
"He’s kinda handsome. Look, he looks like a male model," one of them muttered to her friend, nudging her with her elbow.
"Right! Just look at that serious look. Guys like that are so cool. If I could be his girlfriend, I’d choose to be disowned by my parents just for a one-night stand," the other responded without hesitation.
Another girl pulled out her phone halfway, pretending to text someone, but the lens was clearly pointed in Jeff’s direction.
"Smooth move, girl," said the one who had joked about the one-night stand, glancing at her with a smile.
"Well, finding someone this godly is such a rare occasion," the girl replied without shame.
Jessica’s eye twitched. The three girls were standing right beside her, and while part of her felt happy hearing him get praised, another part of her felt threatened.
"You said you don’t play basketball, so how can you explain this?" she whispered sharply, accusing him of cheating.
Jeff who was still focusing on shooting, felt just as shocked all of them.
He had only touched a basketball once before, and his shots back then were terrible. Yet here he was now, making every shot as if it were second nature.
He was a noob. A perfect noob. If it was about chess, then it’s explanatory, but when it came to basketball or any other physical sport, he was completely clueless.
That is when he realized something.
His limbs, his fingers, even the micro-adjustments in his wrist they were reacting much faster than his conscious mind could process.
His body was calculating angles, force, and timing as if it had its own autopilot.
"Is it also one of the results of Kinetic Vein Art again?" He said to his self
Since it wasn’t supernatural, it was utterly neurological.
The human body, at peak efficiency, could adapt rapidly when conditions were right but for his current situation, this felt like it was being enhanced.
Like the spatial recognition and muscle control parts of his brain were overclocked.
He was subconsciously adjusting each shot with incredible precision similar to how a chess player sees ten moves ahead on a board, except now it was his body that was reading the arc, the momentum, and the bounce.
A mix of proprioception, muscle memory, and real-time recalibration.
"One perfect flick of a basketball and suddenly he’s a crowd favorite?!" Jessica crossed her arms, puffing her cheeks ever so slightly.
Jeff on the other hand, didn’t even notice the attention. He was too focused, too absorbed until the final buzzer sounded and the screen flashed
[132 Points – New Personal High Score!]
A new high score was set, all with just a single coin. It became the top score in under a minute.
There was a small clap from somewhere in the crowd, followed by a few whistles.
"Damn, handsome just owned that machine."
"Yeah, that’s really crazy."
"He’s even better than a friend of mine who was part of a regional basketball team."
Then a few girls kept chattering and praising him, and Jessica’s ears perked up at every word.
"He’s so handsome and he can shoot so good? That’s so unfair. I wonder if he’s also a good shooter in that aspect," the same girl said again as she salivated from it.
Her other friend, already drooling a little, continued recording him non-stop.
"I really hope so," she mumbled, rubbing both her knees together.
Jessica hearing this, couldn’t help but scream shameless in her mind. Since they had no decency at all.
Jeff had already stepped back, exhaling slowly as he clapped his hands together, as if brushing off dust.
He was still completely unaware of how many people were staring at him with admiration.
"Hey, it looks like he’s done. Why don’t we go introduce ourselves?" the semi-perverted girl said to her friend, eyes gleaming with interest.
"Sure, sure, sure," the girl stopped recording as she put her phone in her pockets.
The three of them were just about to move when Jessica shot forward like lightning and was suddenly standing beside Jeff.
"Show off," she muttered under her breath.
"Huh?" As Jeff turned to her with an innocent look.
She gave him a sideways glance, "You’re really a great liar. You said you’ve never played basketball before. What are you, secretly a basketball god pretending to be some normal-looking dude?"
Jeff laughed awkwardly, scratching his cheek.
"Well, I just said I don’t really play. But I never said I couldn’t shoot," he replied.
"Yeah, yeah, let’s go and play somewhere else. They’re all looking at us," Jessica said as she lowered her head, trying to hide her face.
Hearing this, Jeff glanced around and sure enough, there were a lot of people.
All eyes were on him, and they were showering him with praise and admiration.
As he received all the praise, Jeff felt a bit embarrassed, but not enough to make him run away.
He decided to take it as an opportunity to strengthen himself, to stop avoiding the spotlight.
After all, deep down, he could sense that something far grander than this was waiting for him in the near future.
He returned all the cheers with a smile, a quiet gesture of thanks, before they slipped away from that game.
They still had plenty of coins left, but every time they tried to play, people would start crowding around them again.
The three girls kept following them from afar, eyes still locked on Jeff.
But seeing Jessica clinging so closely to him, they eventually gave up. From the way the two interacted, it was obvious that they were in a relationship.
"Let’s just play some other games. Some girl had already beat us to it," one of them said with a sigh.
"Yeah, let’s play the Ocean King series," the other replied, and with that, the three of them walked away.
Jeff and Jessica also left the arcade, since he could tell that all the attention was starting to bother her.
He suggested they head to another arcade a bit farther away, and she agreed without hesitation.
When they arrived at the new place, no one recognized them.
A few people glanced their way, after all who wouldn’t look when someone that beautiful walks by.
But it was nothing overwhelming, just quiet curiosity and admiration.
This time, when Jessica was about to pay for the coins, Jeff quickly stepped in and intercepted her, saying he would be the one to pay.
The two were about to argue over it, but Jeff insisted so many times that it dragged on for a full half an hour before Jessica finally gave up.
He felt challenged by her persistence, but also a bit uncomfortable, like he was being kept and taken care of.
This kind of thing didn’t sit right with him. Since she had already spent a lot on him, and she was just a student with no job.
Clearly, this had to be part of the allowance she had painstakingly saved. While he could easily earn money if he wanted to.
Jessice seeing that he spends over 500 pesos caught her off guard. She hadn’t expected him to go that far, and it made her feel a little bad inside.
"Did he spend all of his savings for me?" she couldn’t help but wonder.
Then a warm feeling bloomed in her chest, but it was mixed with a hint of regret.
If she had argued for just another half an hour, he wouldn’t have to spend anything at all.
But if Jeff ever heard her thoughts, he would have laughed because to him, that amount was just a drop in the iceberg.
