Chapter 59 Faceless mercenary-2

59 Faceless mercenary-2

"Don't worry about it, this battle is only a formality, there are few level 3 mages that would agree to a death match, we just have to wait until the time runs out"

In the sky's of Duan city, three figures could be observed floating in the airspace above the city. Two of them had faceless masks, and the last had a blue oval mask over his face.

"I understand, I'm just a bit nervous" Beside the faceless men, the man in the blue oval mask commented.

He had broken through to level 3 a few days ago and was celebrated by all his fellow disciples. His master even invited him to join his secret faction in the faceless mercenary company.

This was a big honor, all his fellow disciples dreamed of the chance to join their masters' secret faction, but their masters' rules didn't allow them to join until they were ready. Now he had been given the opportunity to join.

Why wouldn't he be nervous?

"It will be over soon, then you will officially be one of us" the aged faceless to side assured the new recruit.

Any level 3 mage joining the company was to be accepted with open arms. It was a boost to their faction. They were of special status, the battle to the death was just a tradition, they knew how to bypass it.

"Hm?" However, while he was thinking of how this would be over soon, a figure slowly emerged from the city floor and soon….

The figure stood before them.

"Who are you?" One of the faceless men asked.

The person in front of them was a female with long luscious white hair and a red devil face mask over her face.

"I'm here for the test to join the faceless mercenary company" the lady spoke hoarsely. This person was, of course, none other than Arian.

"The test?" The two faceless mercenaries frowned. This wasn't protocol, if any level 3 mage wanted to join they would use an insider to inform them, so the test would be held on a day when there weren't any other level 3 mages fighters. So who could this person be here?

Unless.....

(A rogue level mage fighter?)

The two faceless mercenaries thought at the same time, a rogue mage fighter was rare. it was extremely difficult to become a level mage fighter without a prior backing, so those who could achieve this feat were mostly geniuses.

"Sigh!!" The old faceless mercenary shook his head as he looked at the level 3 mage with the faceless mask. If Arian hadn't come here, it would have been easier, but now they would have to follow tradition.

Only the most powerful could survive.

On the ground,

Leon's figure emerged from inside an alleyway. Along the street he had just emerged from, was a darkness akin to the abssy, except for a wide restaurant in front of him.

The restaurant was the typical open canopy restaurant that could be found all over duan city, it was basically like a local food spot.

However, at this time of the night, the restaurant shone with bright light that bathed that particular part of the street with splendid light.

It was truly peculiar.

Leon, who now had a red devilface mask on his face, walked up towards the restaurant and stopped.

"I wish to become faceless" Leon said to the attendant at the door.

"Hm, welcome" the attendant nodded and opened the door.

Leon then proceeded to enter and walk over to a table, where he took a seat.

"Last meal?" A waiter with a faceless mask on soon arrived at Leon's table and asked. It was customary for the restaurant to serve a free last meal for this test, as most participants would end up dead during the test.

The faceless mercenary company's entry test was brutal, and only the insane or those with prior ties with the group would attempt to join.

"You have rice balls?" Leon turned go the waiter and asked. He didn't understand why, but he suddenly felt the craving for rice balls. For some reason, the cooking in this world seemed much better than that in his former world.

"Certainly" the waiter bowed and walked off to the back of the restaurant.

"Hmp!! Looks like you're already resigned to your fate, kid…" from the counter of the restaurant, a man in his twenties said to Leon.

Most of the people seated here refused the last meal option as it screamed out dead man walking, but Leon actually asked for a rice ball? Was he suicidal?

"Hm? I'm just craving rice balls. Plus, Death is but a release, tell me though, would you be willing to fight against someone who's ready to die?" Leon responded to the man with a twisted smile. Of course, no one wanted to fight against someone like that. They would probably try to pull you down with them.

Naturally, Leon didn't have such tendencies, he only wanted rice balls. Did that mean he was going to die? That was stupid, his strength is what would determine that, not rice balls.

"Wooo, I'm soooo scared.....stupid kid" the man mocked Leon. Leon was but a kid who had been sent to his death by some egotistical old bastard.

He would probably be picked off by the more powerful ones immediately the fight starts, just for trying to stand out.

And truly Around Leon, several other fighters couldn't help but sneer as they watched Leon receive a bowl with three rice balls

After about 10 minutes.

"It's almost time....." the faceless waiter announced, and soon other faceless waiters from outside the restaurant began pulling down the metal blinds of the shop.

—Clang

—Clang

Soon the restaurant was filled with pitch blackness followed by a pin drop silence.

—fu

The waiter lit up a handheld fire touch and created some lumination in the room.

"Only one person can remain. Begin"

While standing conspicuously in the middle of the restaurant, the waiter commanded and immediately.

"Die!!"

All hell broke loose.
