Rain poured down in heavy sheets and drenched Kiernan from head to toe while he slowly climbed back to his feet.

With his aura shielding him, not a single drop of rain touched Master Arakawa, as if the rain itself was scared to touch him.

"Why don’t you let her decide what to do with me? Let me have a quick conversation with her, that’s it!"

Kiernan pleaded, but he knew that they weren’t interested in anything he had to say.

"No! You should’ve never come back. We welcomed you to the dojo with open arms, and this is what you did? You ripped away my granddaughter’s innocence and made her sad.

"That alone will ensure your death. You will pay for what you’ve done."

Master Arakawa pointed towards the sky, his rage overflowing, and then flashes of silver appeared deep inside the dark clouds.

"The Rage Bolt of the Sky Gods!"

With him swinging his arm down, a bolt of silver lightning stabbed through the dark clouds and came crashing down like the might of the gods.

Within the dojo, everyone looked away as the flash of the lightning was too bright, and it might burn their retinas.

"Haaaa!"

Kiernan stabbed two of his fingers towards the silver lightning, let it move down his right arm, and basked in the raw power of the godly powers.

Crackle~ Crackle~

With otherworldly power, the silver lightning danced around his right arm, electrifying the air around him, and threatened to consume him whole.

"You..."

Master Arakawa narrowed his eyes.

"Unbelievable... He stopped Master Arakawa’s attack! How is that possible?!"

"Shit! Shit! Shit!"

"Why is it always the assholes who get the most power?"

"It doesn’t matter if he stopped his lightning! Master Arakawa can kill him with only his pinkie!"

Kiernan closed his eyes, moved his arms, and made the tips of the fingers of both hands touch each other, making the lightning jump into his left arm as well.

Now, the power of the lightning wasn’t only in his right arm but also in his left. It allowed him to control the raw power of the lightning better.

"You should’ve let me pass."

Kiernan said with a crackling voice as if there was lightning inside his throat, and then with the swings of his hands, he stabbed his lightning-coated fingers in Master Arakawa’s direction.

"Lightning Rox!"

Swoosh~

With a blinding flash of light, two mighty silver lightning bolts flew out from his fingers and scorched their way through the air.

At that moment, Master Arakawa placed his hand in front of him, and the lightning bolts smashed into the palm of his hand.

BOOM!

The ground exploded, sending shockwaves in every direction, but eventually, the raw power of the lightning diminished, and they carefully disappeared into the air.

Master Arakawa’s hand smoked, but there was no injury in sight, and it was clear that Kiernan’s mighty attack didn’t do anything!

"..."

Master Arakawa stepped forward, but with that single step, he appeared next to Kiernan and placed his fist gently on Kiernan’s stomach.

"Aoi’s parents passed away when she was just a child. A car accident, a tragedy truly. Aoi was a passenger at that time, and by a miracle, she survived.

"A miracle child.

"At the hospital, my dear daughter suffered, but with her final words, she asked me to take care of Aoi, and of course, I said I will.

"You’re the reason why I failed at my promise."

Master Arakawa’s voice shook while his fist touched Kiernan’s stomach as if he wanted to punch a hole through his body.

"You won’t be waking up from that.

"I believe in the afterlife, and I hope they punish you there accordingly."

Master Arakawa said coldly with tears falling from the corners of his eyes.

At that moment, Kiernan touched the diamond-encrusted ring and brought it out from his pocket, showing it to him with a trembling hand.

Fear of death—Kiernan suffered from that as he knew what would wait for him once he passed on.

A purgatory—endlessly haunting him.

"Here..."

Kiernan said, holding out the ring.

"A ring? What is this?"

Master Arakawa asked with a frown.

"I love your granddaughter, Master Arakawa. I am sure that is exactly what you didn’t want to hear right now, but let me tell it to her, please.

"If she refuses this ring, you may do whatever you want with me..."

It took all his willpower to keep standing as Master Arakawa’s pressure threatened to break his legs, but he didn’t want to fall down.

Master Arakawa looked at him silently with rounded eyes, and it wasn’t quite clear what he was thinking about.

At that moment, the dark clouds disappeared from the skies, and the rain stopped on a whim, as if the weather had a mind of its own.

People looked at the clear skies, and since Master Arakawa controlled the weather with his emotions, it meant that his emotions had changed.

Master Arakawa patted him on the shoulder and made him fall down to the ground in shock.

"What?"

Kiernan looked at him in shock.

"I thought you were just another womanizer, played around with Aoi’s feelings, and left when you were done satisfying your desires.

"You really love her? Go tell her then. If you break her heart again, I will break your neck."

Kiernan stood up, aching in every spot imaginable, and said,.

"Couldn’t we have just talked before you broke my body?"

"This is how martial arts speaks."

Master Arakawa said with a smirk, patted Kiernan on the back, and pushed him towards the dojo.

When Kiernan limped towards the dojo, everyone stepped aside and cleared a path for him.

Watching with crossed arms, Master Arakawa watched as Kiernan stepped up the stairs and disappeared from view.

"Master, what about Tanaka? He is pretty beaten up."

Senior Instructor said with a wry smile.

"Take him to the infirmary, and remove his Junior Instructor title for a couple of months. Instructor of mine doesn’t lose to anyone, get that?"

"Yes, master!"
