Chapter 1333: After the Deal

After the two verbally agreed on the general nature of the deal, the two went through all of the various clauses making up their agreement in detail, adjusting things here and there to make sure that both sides would end up with everything to gain and not much to lose.

By the time they were both satisfied with the agreement they came up with, Valyr and Aster then shook hands, only to add one another to each other’s friend lists after that.

After confirming that both of them could message one another at any time, it was only then did the two part ways, with the young man leaving Fimbul Plaza sometime later after Aster did.

"To think that a misunderstanding from one side could transform into something much more." Standing at the entrance to the plaza, Valyr had a wide grin on his face as he briefly stared at the night sky.

"Guess the world still has a lot of surprises waiting for me to uncover."

Chuckling at the words that left his mouth, the young man went ahead and brought up the system’s chat feature, sending a message to Thomas and the others to see how they were doing.

Getting a response from the three that they were proceeding through the quests just fine, the young man let out yet another chuckle before heading to the nearest inn from the plaza as the words Aster left him lingered in his mind.

"He told me that we’d look at the plot of land included in the deal first thing tomorrow morning."

"Now then… I wonder where that plot of land would be located?"

"Well, then… look who’s up early."

As he made his way to the easternmost gate of the city, a faint smile began to creep up on Valyr’s face just as Aster said those words.

"I could say the same for you," said the young man in response, slightly chuckling. "Didn’t you send me a message that we’d meet up half an hour from now?"

"I took all of my morning meetings into consideration when I made that message," replied Aster with a slight shrug. "Who knew those meetings would be done earlier than I thought?"

"Anyways, enough about me," said the man after that, changing the topic without hesitation.

"Since the two of us are already here, shall we head to your new plot of land?"

In response, Valyr faintly nodded, a slight smile adorning his face.

Nodding back at the young man, Aster went ahead and led the way, gradually increasing his speed as the two of them soon found themselves in the outskirts of Astella City.

Whoosh!

Wanting to know how talented Valyr was for the Mage Guild to covet his existence for the tournament, the man decided to pick up the pace all of a sudden, forcing the young man to move at what would be the usual speed of a peak Rank 1 class holder.

Swoosh!

Yet, seeing as he saw Valyr having an easy time moving at that speed, Aster did not hesitate to take it a step further, increasing his speed to where even a mid-Rank 2 class holder would have difficulty catching up.

Though, just like before, the young man showed no signs of discomfort or strain whatsoever while moving at that speed, causing the man’s eyes to widen as he briefly looked at Valyr in shock.

Somewhat surprised that he had gotten far more than what he bargained for, Aster allowed his curiosity to get the best of him, pushing his speed to a level where he felt like Valyr would finally begin to have difficulty catching up.

’Surely his stats aren’t that high, right?’ thought Aster to himself, somewhat confident that the speed of a peak Rank 3 class holder was more than what Valyr could unleash.

Whoosh!

However, even though the young man had now begun to show signs of overexerting himself, Valyr still showed that he was capable of moving at such a speed, finally leaving Aster at a complete loss for words.

’…If he can already move that fast without ascending to Rank 2 yet, then what level of power would he reach by the time the tournament begins?’

Slightly shuddering at the thought, the man eventually made up his mind to improve the other parts of the deal on Valyr’s side by a tad, confident that the young man would repay it and then some by the time the tournament arrived.

Faintly grinning at the decision he came up with, Aster then continued to move through the outskirts surrounding the city, with Valyr doing everything in his power to keep up.

"Haah… haah…"

After running for about an hour or so, it was only then did Aster stop in his tracks, giving Valyr the opportunity to finally catch his breath.

"Was… was there a reason you… we… had to go… so fast?" he asked the man, looking at the latter as if he’d been wronged.

"Let’s just say I did a quick test along the way," replied Aster with a slight smile, giving the young man all the time he needed to rest after running for so long.

Fortunately, since Valyr had the hindsight to stock up on potions on his way to Astella City, it only took a few minutes for the young man to get back to peak condition.

After making sure that the young man was ready to move about once more, it was only then did the two start checking the land they found themselves in, with Aster giving Valyr a couple of explanations along the way.

"I actually had a plan for this plot of land back when we first got our hands on it" said the man, pointing at the mountains jutting out from afar.

"With the mountains acting as natural defense on one side, I thought that it would be nice to establish the clan’s main estate on this area."

"After we discovered how abundant it was in minerals, I and the other high-ranking members of the clan thought that it wouldn’t be a bad idea to establish a smithing town of sorts here." Aster briefly glanced at Valyr, whose gaze continued to peer through their surroundings.

"However, just as we had finished the first draft on our plans to transform the land into a smithing town, something happened that caused the entire clan to set the idea aside for the meantime."

"…The war?" asked Valyr after a bit of silence.

"The war." Aster nodded, letting out a sigh after that. "As a leading clan for one of the empire’s core cities, the clan’s manpower was effectively cut in half once the elves joined the fray."

"Add on the fact that we have another portion helping out in logistics between the frontlines and the rear, you could say that the clan’s hands are all tied up when it comes to this plot of land."

"And that made you think it was a good idea to offer this plot of land to me?" asked Valyr, not understanding the mental gymnastics Aster pulled off to come to that conclusion.

"Surely you could’ve continued to keep this plot of land until after the war was over, no?"

"I could, but what would that achieve?" Aster shook his head at the idea. "Also, if you consider how much money the clan would have to invest just to get a town here going would bankrupt us if we were to do it after the war."

"Well… that makes sense." Valyr nodded in agreement after listening to the man’s words. "But that still doesn’t explain why you thought it was a good idea to give this plot of land to me."

"Call it a gut feeling, I guess." Aster replied with a shrug, which promptly made the young man look at him with a raised eyebrow.

"…What?" Taking note of Valyr’s reaction to his words, a thought soon popped up in the man’s mind, only to then put two and two together after that.

"Wait… don’t tell me you already have plans for this plot of land?"

"I don’t." Valyr shook his head. "I wasn’t even expecting you to offer up a plot of land for the deal."

"However… that doesn’t mean that I don’t have a use for it," the young man continued. "After all, one of the requirements needed to establish a guild is a place to set up the guild’s base of operations."

"…Who would have thought you’d already have a use for this land?" Hearing the words that left Valyr’s mouth, Aster soon began to laugh out of disbelief.

"Fate truly works in mysterious ways."

"Fate really does work in mysterious ways." Valyr nodded in agreement, letting out a bit of laughter himself.

After talking for a bit more about how absurd it was for two random things to align so perfectly, Aster eventually continued where their tour around the land left off, giving Valyr the deed to the land by the time he was done.

Making a few hints here and there that the Stelyra clan might want to invest in his guild after that, the man eventually left Valyr in the plot of land he now owned, telling the latter that he still had something else to do back in the city.

Whoosh!

Staring at the deed he now had as Aster’s silhouette gradually disappeared from his field of vision, the young man soon let out a sigh as he proceeded to stash the deed in his spatial bracelet.

Then, after scratching the back of his head for a bit, he looked at the land surrounding him once more before giving a command to the system.

"System, I would like to establish a guild."
