Chapter 104 - future son-in-law(1)
"UNO!" Angelica and Olivia shouted loudly.
On the opposite side of the table sat Leon. In his hands, he held a total of twelve cards. Out of the seven rounds they had played, he had managed to win only one, while Olivia and Angelica had split the victories between them—three each.
"This is so much fun!" Olivia exclaimed with a wide smile. "I never thought a card game could be this exciting! And these cards... they look so strange—so bright and colorful. They're nothing like the ones I'm used to. Even the game itself feels completely different."
"I agree," Angelica nodded. "I used to play cards with my brother, and it was fun. But these cards... they make the whole experience feel different. You said this game is called 'UNO,' right, Leon?"
"Huh? Y-yeah... yeah," Leon mumbled, staring intently at the twelve cards in his hands. He was desperately trying to figure out the perfect move—one that could save him from yet another defeat.
Noticing his hesitation, Olivia and Angelica exchanged glances. A mischievous glint flashed in their eyes, and within moments, both of them grinned ominously. Without a single word, they silently agreed to mess with their opponent a little.
"What's the matter, Leon? What are you waiting for?" Angelica teased.
"Come on, take your turn! Or... are you stuck?" Olivia added, piling on the pressure.
Suddenly, Leon smirked and slammed two +4 cards onto the table.
Olivia's eyes widened in shock.
"+4?!" she gasped, then, with a look of resignation, reached for the deck and began drawing extra cards.
Feeling triumphant, Leon shifted his gaze to Angelica. Her expression remained serious and composed, but he noticed tiny beads of sweat forming on her forehead.
"So, you don't have a +4 or a card to change the color, huh, Angelica?" Leon smirked slightly. "That means your chances of winning... are one in four."
Angelica flinched. Leon didn't miss that small reaction.
"The new color will be red!" he declared confidently, locking eyes with his opponent.
Angelica averted her gaze and muttered quietly:
"You're right... I don't have red..."
A victorious feeling began to swell inside Leon, but just as he was about to celebrate, Angelica suddenly flashed a sly grin and placed yet another +4 card on the table.
His smug smile vanished in an instant—wiped away as if it had never been there.
"...I lost again," Leon sighed. "Well, I guess we're about done. I think we should call it a night."
"Giving up, Master?" a voice suddenly whispered beside his ear.
That voice belonged to Luxion.
"How could I not..." Leon muttered, staring at his cards. "I've lost six times already... I don't want to play anymore. Besides, I think we're finished anyway..."
Luxion floated silently nearby, watching Leon intently.
Across the table, Angelica and Olivia exchanged glances. They could tell Leon was annoyed by his losses. After all, he was supposed to be the expert at this game! But rather than feeling bad for him, the girls simply chuckled to themselves, enjoying their victory.

By the time they arrived at the duchy, a grand mansion belonging to House Redgrave came into view.
Upon seeing it, Olivia froze in place. Her eyes widened in awe.
"Anji, you live here?!" she exclaimed. "This mansion is twice the size of our academy... And it looks absolutely breathtaking!"
Angelica smiled proudly.
"Of course! Our mansion is one of the biggest and most beautiful in the entire kingdom!" she declared, then grabbed Olivia's hand and added, "Come on, let me show you around!"
She was about to lead her friend inside when she suddenly stopped and turned toward Leon.
"Leon! We're going for a walk, so you can go talk to my father. I'm sure he already knows you've arrived." She pointed toward the entrance. "Go that way. You'll probably run into either my brother or the head butler. They'll take you to him. Alright, see you in about thirty minutes!"
With a cheerful wave, Angelica pulled Olivia into the garden. Leon let out a sigh, waved back, and then made his way in the direction she had indicated.
A few minutes later, he reached the designated area and found Gilbert waiting for him.
As soon as Gilbert saw Leon, he approached and extended his hand. Leon shook it, as if they were old friends.
"Good to see you again," Gilbert said with a light smile. "I'd love to chat, but my father wants to speak with you personally. We'll have to save our conversation for later."
With that, he gestured for Leon to follow him. They walked through the long corridors of the mansion until they finally reached a massive door.
A plaque hung on it, bearing the words:
Head of House Redgrave.
