Chapter 585: 571, Let the Parties Speak (1) _1

“Jian Qing, stop slandering me!” Chu Ruohan exclaimed first, “I’m no longer involved with Qin Baihao, I know nothing about what happened to him.”

In a corner unnoticed, Jiang Fan’s face subtly changed, recalling the night Chu Ruohan sneaked out of the house.

After Ruohan returned that night, Qin Baihao had an accident the next day. Could it really be as Jian Qing suggested, that Qin Baihao’s disappearance was related to Ruohan? Had Ruohan been hiding something from her?

Jian Qing raised an eyebrow, her gaze placidly landing on Ruohan. “If it’s not your business, why are you so worked up? Or are you feeling guilty cause you’ve done something wrong and fear being exposed?”

“I…”

Chu Ruohan tried to defend herself but was interrupted by the intense stares from Tang Yu and Qin Xiong, making it impossible for her to stay calm.

Jian Qing turned her head slightly, cast her a glance, and said coldly, “Chu Ruohan, we’ve been playing this game for a while, it’s about time we ended it.”

Upon her words, Chu Yihen furrowed his brows and Chu Ruohan lost all composure.

“What do you mean by that?”

She looked up, staring at Jian Qing while swallowing hard.

“Chu Ruohan, I’ve given you plenty of chances, but you failed to value them.” Jian Qing showed indifference. Her tone then changed to a colder one.

“You even dared to hire someone to assassinate me. Tell me, where did you get such guts, hmm?”

Upon hearing her words, everyone but Chu Yihen and Jiang Fan, who knew the truth, had their faces change dramatically, freezing in shock.

Chu Yan turned to look at Chu Ruohan. As their eyes met, she became even more panicked.

“Grandfather, I didn’t do it. Don’t believe her words. I am your granddaughter, you have to believe me. Jian Qing is trying to frame me, that’s why she’s making up such stories.”

She stormed over to Chu Yan, clutched his hand, and explained ardently.

Chu Yan glanced at her, then at Chu Yihen. Seeing the gloomy expression on his face, he instantly understood.

Looking at Chu Ruohan with disappointed and angry eyes, all Chu Yan could feel was regret.

“Grandfather, I…”

Upon seeing the disappointment and rage in his eyes, Chu Ruohan’s grip on his hand trembled.

“SLAP—”

Chu Yan retaliated with a hefty slap across her face, causing her to stagger backward.

“Father!”

Jiang Fan was taken aback and quickly rushed over, supporting Chu Ruohan.

Chu Yan gazed at her grimly, devoid of any warm affection he previously had for her.

Since Jian Qing had come over, she must be armed with proof. How could Chu Ruohan be so foolish, hiring someone to commit murder? This was a deadly blow to the Chu Family. If word got out, how could their family maintain their position in Beijing?

He has been spoiling her for years only to allow her to become arrogant and ignorant.

What a foolish act!

Just a few days ago Chu Yihen had slapped her. No sooner had the swelling gone down than Chu Yan slapped her again, bringing back the flush to her cheeks.

She covered her face, her voice choking with tears, “Grandfather!”

“Don’t call me grandfather. I do not acknowledge a granddaughter like you.” Chu Yan’s face was pale with rage, wishing he could throw her out.

“Jian Qing, are you satisfied now?” Chu Ruohan shoved Jiang Fan away, her gaze fixed fiercely on Jian Qing, gritting her teeth as she spoke.

Jian Qing gave her a casual glance and responded coolly, “Do you think that with one slap, you can nullify your attempt to assassinate me? Chu Ruohan, let me tell you, anyone who plots against me, I return the favor hundredfold.”

She then glanced at her wristwatch, “It’s about time, the police should be arriving soon. You can voice your grievances with them.”

“You, you called the police?” Chu Ruohan shivered as a cold chill ran down her spine, leaving her mind blank.

“You must have seen the car accident yesterday. The man is now under arrest. I am just being kind-hearted by sending you to keep him company. How does that sound?” Taking a pause, Jian Qing continued, “And don’t bother looking for a lawyer to bail you out. I think it’s best you spend the rest of your life in jail, preventing your muddy brain from causing harm to others.”

Chu Ruohan’s eyes filled with terror, breathing heavily.

Jail?

No, she didn’t want to be imprisoned.

She absolutely couldn’t be imprisoned. As the young mistress of the Chu family, how could she end up in jail?

Chu Yihen looked at her, then turned his attention to Jian Qing and murmured.

“Jian Qing!”

Jian Qing glanced at him arrogantly, “Chu Yihen, I’m determined to put Chu Ruohan behind bars. If you want to fight me, go ahead. But if my mood turns sour, perhaps your Chu Group and the Chu family will end up involved.”

“You really want to do this?” Chu Yihen locked his gaze on her, his voice somber.

“Heh!”

Jian Qing chuckled dismissively, “Chu Ruohan has this coming. Why should I show mercy to a murderer?”

“Jian Qing, you said I hired someone to kill you. Where’s the evidence? Show us.” Chu Ruohan said desperately.

“That man is the best evidence. Forgot to tell you, he has already confessed your involvement and even recorded calls with you.” Jian Qing delivered the words calmly, extinguishing Chu Ruohan’s last hope.

The revelation left Chu Ruohan feeling dazed.

“Jian Qing, just let her go this once. No matter the cost, the Chu family will meet your demands. I’ll keep an eye on her from now on and won’t let Ruohan provoke you again, I promise.” Jiang Fan pleaded.

“Even if I let her go, I don’t think Mr. Qin would. After all, your daughter has more than one person’s blood on her hands.” Jian Qing, one hand operating her phone, replied casually.

Everyone was taken aback upon hearing this, with Qin Xiong looking over in confusion.

Jian Qing cast a glance around the room, her eyes finally resting on Chu Ruohan’s swollen face, “Chu Ruohan, do you want to speak for yourself, or shall I do it for you?”

Staring at her with frigid obsidian eyes, Chu Ruohan avoided her gaze after only two seconds. Noticing the probing looks from Jiang Fan and the others, she felt a surge of fear and anger.

“It seems you don’t wish to speak.” Jian Qing cut her off before she could think further, “Well, if so, how about we let the party involved tell the story?”

Chu Ruohan’s gaze snapped towards her, only to see a chilling smirk playing on the corner of Jian Qing’s lips.

“Bring him in.”

Hearing her cold voice, Chu Ruohan felt a sense of dread.

Everyone followed her gaze to see three silhouettes appearing in the doorway against the light.

The man in the wheelchair — Qin Xiong and Tang Yu recognized him instantly.

It was none other than Qin Baihao, who was presumed dead after plunging into a river.
