'Fina-fucking-lly!'

It finally showed up!

The thing I have been waiting for all along. Saving the princess was all well and good, but if I didn't get a quest, then there was no saying if you would get a reward or not.

Just imagine helping someone only to be taken as a pushover and busybody, and not receiving any rewards.

So a quest was very important, especially for someone like me who couldn't trust people at face value.

'Still, my 500 gold coins…'

I couldn't help but remember those coins. They were like $50 and I couldn't help but think how they could feed me for 2-3 days.

'All's well that ends well!'

Shaking my head from the useless thoughts, I bode farewell to Lucas. Somewhere deep down, I was expecting him to try to stop me and give me my money back, and say that it was all a prank.

But expectations versus reality were always as brutal as Hitler. If I had ever learned anything from life, those were nothing but three golden words: Life goes on.

Leaving the grand Mason's Alchemy house, I reached the city plaza that was bustling with people.

For some reason, I didn't feel like leaving the city just yet even though I had gotten a quest, and most players would rush out and try to finish their quests as early as possible.

In the center of the plaza was a beautiful fountain. A woman's statue was made with a bucket in her hand, that let out an unending flow of water. A thick boundary was made from some kind of granite, where players and NPCs sat alike, chit-chatting with people and enjoying the day.

Now, one thing to note was that nobody seemed to be alone. Almost everyone had company and the only loner that I could spot apart from myself was me alone.

Not minding these bunch of social jerks at all, I went ahead and sat down on the side of the fountain where there was some space.

After that, I started checking the online forums and gathering information about anything, even if it was minuscule.

As I was going through some information regarding various current news, including rumors about me being present in the Sahhan Empire.

'Man, I should really inform myself the next time I go somewhere. I am finding out from others now.'

I chuckled sarcastically at my own joke that nobody heard.

"What a gallant young man, your heroic aura is overflowing."

As I was busy checking through the community and forums, an old man with unwashed and messy hair, tattered cloth, and a smile that showed his yellow teeth showed up in front of me.

"What did you just say, old man?"

I asked, curiously looking at the old chap that appeared out of nowhere to flatter me.

'Of course, I would accept anything as long as it is free. Yes! Even poison. Who said I can't sell it later to someone who actually needs it?'

"Your heroic charm is spreading out of your body, unlike anyone I've ever seen before. Surely you can help with a copper coin or something. You see, I am very hungry and I haven't eaten anything for days."

The crude old man asked as he rubbed his hand. His attire alone can gather the disgust and pity of many, forget about those sunny teeth.

"Here, take a gold coin. And you should really take a bath, old man, you stink."

The old man gladly accepted the coin with his dirty hand and laughed like a kid.

,m "Haha, kid. May goddess Aphrodite bless you. Keep following your dream, you'll reach your destination one day."

Nobody could have guessed that such kind and philosophical words would come out of such a poor beggar's mouth.

"I'm sick of following my dreams, old man. I'm just going to ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later."

I used one of the famous quotes from almost a century ago.

"I am poor, not crazy. Stop being superstitious." 𝐟𝓇ℯ𝐞𝚠𝚎𝒃𝑛𝒐ѵe𝚕.co𝚖

The old beggar couldn't help but look at me weirdly.

"I am not superstitious, if anything, you can call me a 'little stitious'."

"Fucking moron!"

The old beggar looked at me as if I was a plague and ran away as fast as he could.

'At least give back this moron's coin.'

Chuckling inwardly, I continued with my news checking on the forums. There was one thing that interested me more than anything else.

It was an article made by some player who was continuously analyzing the top guilds and their behaviours. His articles always had a lot of views and likes, and he was quite a popular member of these online game forums,

[The Legendary Class, still unknown.

As we all know, a few days ago, one of the gamers of [Mayhem] had successfully surpassed billions of people by obtaining one of the feared legendary classes in-game. There was no available information about the class during the NPC missions or on the internet. However, now that doesn't seem to be the case.

NPCs are giving out bits and pieces of the Legendary Dulwak and his heir. The class seems to be a close-ranged damage dealing class with the main equipment being daggers and knives. The player who holds the class is still unknown, although many are guessing that one of the rankers might have gotten the class.

One of the high rankers from the close combat ranking, Diana, is also suspected of having an epic rated or higher class. Is she the legendary class? Or is it MineStein that has gotten the legendary class? There are many speculations but all of them are unanswered.

Famous guilds like Warriors of North and Coldshroud have already taken out hiring notices for the legendary class. They have openly claimed to award the legendary class with a fortune, which just speaks volumes of these players' influence and wealth.

Apart from that, many guilds owned by various top companies are also looking to recruit the legendary class. Even private top guilds like Nightclouds are no exception.

Now the main question is, will the legendary class answer the calls of any of these people?]

'Nope.'

I commented inwardly. It was true that I would be offered various kinds of things and would be treated well. I would be able to level up faster than ever if I joined a guild, even without doing anything much. But I didn't want to be bound to any of these hypocritical and restraining guilds.

I wasn't the type of person who liked to be chained and a guild did just that. Sure there were various kinds of benefits to being in a group, but all I could see were losses.

Stretching a bit, I stood up. It was about time I departed for my quest. Walking out of the city without checking out any major attractions, I reached the city gate.

Unlike Azler town, the royal capital was bustling with people and transporters.

There were even magic stone-powered cars for transportation. As long as one was rich enough, one could afford to ride those babies from one city to another city or even another country.

Well, they were even costlier than riding a Camlorsel, which was a weird hybrid monster that looked like a half camel and half horse.

Walking to a young man who was standing near his horse carrier, I spoke, trying to be as respectful as possible.

"How much would it be for a ride to Malta forest?"

The short green-haired and tanned guy measured me from top to bottom without unfolding his hands, as he looked to the side and said in a lazy voice.

"Not everyone takes people to the Malta forest due to the danger involved, so It would cost a bit more than the normal prices. I can take you to the end of the road at Malta forest for 10 silver coins."

'Fuck, how is it so cheap?'

I suddenly remembered the old coachman and instantly asked the green-haired guy.

"How much does it take if one wants to go to Azler town?"

I asked as a feeling of foreboding reigned inside me. The green-haired guy had a confused expression on his face as if trying to confirm where I even wanted to go.

"Azler town is way farther, so of course, the amount would be more. It would be 1 gold coin normally. Even with a discount, it wouldn't go below 80 silver."

The green-haired guy replied with caution as if telling me that he won't go a single coin below that.

I tried to suppress the burning feeling inside me as I remembered the face of the old man I was trying to save. He asked for 10 gold coins with a straight face and even with a discount, he made a deal at 5 gold coins.

Rage boiled up inside me as the green-haired man looked at me weirdly.

Finally, not being able to control myself, I shouted at the top of my lungs.

"Fuck you, old man!!"

People from around me stared at me like I was some crazy guy, but I couldn't care less about them, I was fucking scammed.

'Oh wait, he didn't take the money though…'

"...."
