Chapter 45 Late Again
Mr. Fang said he didn't want to see Zhang Liling for the next 24 hours, but he ended up seeing her rushing in when he was about to start the class.
Zhang Liling could feel the icy gaze on her back, but she didn't dare to turn around and continued walking forward while scanning the students with her gaze.
She was looking for Tungmei because finding her would mean finding the seat she reserved for her.
Luckily for her, she saw the hand that was slightly waving at her and quickened her steps.
Tungmei was trying not to get caught by Mr. Fang hence, she couldn't call out to her friend.
At last, when Zhang Liling found her way to Tungmei's side and took a seat, she felt the icy gaze on her disappear, and she released a deep sigh of relief.
"Why did you come late today, are you trying to get into trouble?" Tungmei asked with gritted teeth with her gaze on the podium.
She was angry with her very good friend for seeking death boldly. She has been a good student for the longest time, but why did she choose to deviate from her devotion?
One more time was all it needed for her to be banned from Mr. Fang's class.
She couldn't even overrule the possibility of already getting into Mr. Fang's black book because his facial expression when Zhang Liling walked in, was terrible.
"It's not like I'm intentionally trying to get into trouble. I came late because it was unavoidable!" Zhang Liling replied with gritted teeth.
Her gaze was focused on the stage, and from the way they were conversing, no one would even know about it, but that was until Mr. Fang casually glanced in their direction before shifting his gaze to the rest of the students.
His gaze had rested on them for a few minutes before moving away, and that was enough to shut them up throughout the duration his class lasted. 𝘧𝓇𝗲𝑒we𝙗noѵ𝑒l.𝐜o𝘮
Whether he knew they were secretly conversing or not, they didn't dare to continue with their conversation.
Tungmei was scared because she was not brave enough to face Mr. Fang's rot, even if it was the first time, while Zhang Liling was very careful as to not offend him for the second time today.
"In the last class, I left you with an assignment. Please submit them to the person sitting at the edge of your row." Mr. Fang instructed while moving his gaze about.
Quickly, there were movements and a little noise as all the students in the hall were trying to take out their assignments from their backpacks and pass them to their neighbors until they got to the person sitting at the end of their row.
"Please can you do that quietly?" Mr. Fang said with a slight frown. It was obvious that he wasn't begging them. The 'please' in his sentence, was just a formality he added because of his manners.
If they thought he was begging them, then one of them should make a sound with his/her mouth and see what will happen.
As soon as Mr. Fang said that, the hall quietened down. After the assignments go to the end of each role, Mr. Fang instructed the students sitting there, to bring the assignment to the podium.
Zhang Liling was unfortunate to be amongst the people sitting at the edge, which meant she had to get out there and be in close proximity to Mr. Fang for 5 seconds straight.
Mr. Fang's instructions can't be overlooked, and she didn't need anyone to remind her about them. She quickly got off her desk and carried these papers on her desk to the podium.
She made sure not to meet Mr. Fang's gaze till she returned to her seat.
Mr. Fang's lecture lasted for 2 hours before he appointed a few people who will carry all the assignments to his office, and Zhang Liling was among them.
Zhang Liling felt very unfortunate to be amongst the students selected to carry the assignment to his office, but she had to do that anyway, it's not like she wanted to disobey him.
Immediately after putting those booklets down in Mr. Fang's office, Zhang Liling left with the other students.
On her way back to the lecture hall, she met her half-brother, Zhang Mingyu who stopped her when she was about pretending not to have seen him.
"Liling!" Zhang Mingyu called out with a smile as he blocked her path.
"What do you want to say, be quick I have another lecture to attend in a few minutes!" Zhang Liling said without batting an eye.
She was not in the mood to see anyone from the Zhang family.
"I heard from my mother that you would be staying in the school dorms, why did you move out?" Mingyu asked with an interested gaze.
Zhang Liling rolled her eyes at him and said, "If this is the reason you stopped me, then I will have to direct you back to your mother who told you about it. If you will excuse me..."
"Why are you in such a hurry to leave? I'm just trying to be a good older brother!" Zhang Mingyu said as he blocked her path again with a smirk on his face.
He seemed to be having fun trying to provoke Liling.
Zhang Liling felt like wiping that smirk off his face, but she didn't have the time to be bothered about him, so she directly pushed him away from her path and continued in her steps.
"You need to grow up, prodigal son!" Zhang Liling spat without looking back.
At her words, Zhang Mingyu was instantly provoked. He glared daggers at her back and watched her walk away. At least that is what he could do since he was avoiding making any scene.
When he was about to walk away, he saw Mr. Fang from the distance, walking ahead of his personal assistant.
His gaze on him lasted only till he disappeared from his sight, and only then did he decide to walk away. He admired Mr. Fang and hoped to be like him.
If Zhang Liling could hear his inner thoughts, she could have laughed hard at him.
How could he hope to be like Mr. Fang with that ugly character and bad mother? If it was like that, then wouldn't she be wrong about liking Mr. Fang in the first place and trying to get close to him?
On her way to another lecture hall for her second class of the day, Zhang Liling and Tungmei got the chance to chat for a bit.
"Your highness, can you explain the reason you came late for school?" Tungmei asked.
"I can't tell you that much about it, but just know that I have a job now, and had to work on it before leaving for school.
