Chapter 56: Bizzare wake up!
Sett woke up to the sounds of a buzzling city street, his whole body aching. His muscles were sore, his mind rattled. But at the same time, he also felt latent power thrumming throughout him—filling him with energy.
His gaze, at first blurry, slowly cleared up.
Tens of screens floated around him, translucent, white, and filled with information. He removed them all with a thought, making his surroundings clear to him.
Where is this?
He hung over the edge of a rooftop, his upper body dangling in open air while his legs were caught in a mess of laundry. A bedsheet had wrapped around his waist, and a pair of pants was tangled around his ankle, stopping his fall at the last second.
Sett’s heart pounded as he gripped the rough rooftop tiles, staring down at the dizzying drop below. A dirty alley cat look up at him from below, yawning. While the scent of fresh soap and drying fabric filled the air—an oddly normal smell for such a startling wake up.
He backed up from the roof and untangled the laundry, leaning against a wall nearby.
Did I enter a Tomb, as I expected? He wondered.
If that was the case, this was no ordinary Tomb. But he had to make sure first, in fact, Sett didn’t even understand his own body’s current situation.
Where is Zainah and Zarah?
He had to check that first and foremost.
Sett’s senses left his body and entered his Inner Tomb.
At first glance, he realized that the place was no longer as it used to be. It was different now, much, much bigger.
It was no longer just a simple 1 kilometer Tomb with traps and hidden rooms, but a whole city with a noble district, commoner district, alleys, city squires, and slave markets. For a fleeting moment, Sett was stricken with the grandeur of it.
Such a massive city, 17 kilometers in full, was now a part of his flesh and blood.
It was inside his body, a part just as much as his blood vessels.
But observing deeper, Sett realized something more startling.
There was not a single living being inside his Inner Tomb.
There were a lot of movements in the City of Burrhen, a lot of ’people’ moving around. It was a place full of chaos, fights, and revolts. Wherever he looked, all he could see was people fighting and making a scene. But that made sense.
After all, these ’people’ were not people at all.
This was a city of ghosts and corpses.
As Sett’s awareness roamed around the city, he became even more confused. Though the place was ghost infested, the population was much lesser than the total Burrhen population. So, the living people that he had absorbed at the last moment shouldn’t have become ghosts.
Zainah and Zarah were also nowhere to be seen.
But Sett didn’t panic.
He had half expected this scenario.
This means that my Inner Tomb can’t hold living beings, just like normal Storage-type Axiom abilities.
He felt a bit disappointed, but didn’t linger on that too much.
In his past life, Sett didn’t have the Limitless Evolution Art, so he knew how to be thankful for any new ability. The Tomb Lord ability alone had benefitted him greatly, so it didn’t matter if it could hold living beings or not.
Since I can’t hold them in, they must have been ejected.
That means…
They must be somewhere around here, not too far.
It should be fairly easy to find them.
Understanding that, Sett’s awareness floated high into the air of his Inner Tomb, taking a final look at the scenery. There was no sun inside his Tomb, but there was ambient Tomb-Light around, making it look like a city bathed in moonlight.
And just outside the city, around a kilometer away, was a Tomb without mummies.
That was the Tomb that Sett had absorbed before absorbing the city. Now, all of those territories had become one whole.
Sett’s own Inner Tomb.
Including that Tomb, Sett realized, he now had a total of 18 kilometers worth of land inside his body.
Blink.
Sett’s awareness returned to the real world, golden eyes opening sharply.
He stood up, at first a bit wobbly, before standing straight. Then, without any hesitation, he stole some dull clothing from the clothes beside him and got into it.
But a frown appeared on his face right after.
Sett was taller than most people and the clothes here weren’t his size.
He removed those clothes and closed his eyes for a second. Soon after, a new set of clothes appeared in Sett’s hand, this one a lot more flashy and good looking. City of Burrhen had enough cloth shops for him to go on a shopping spree.
He got into it, transforming from a naked hobo to a prince charming.
Sett went down the sandstone stairs of the building he was in while deep in thought. And soon enough, he left the building to the alley.
The dirty alley cat looked at him curiously, meowing and sniffing.
Sett threw it a small mountain of biscuits in passing.
He was feeling generous today.
The food stored inside his Tomb seem to go bad quickly, and there was still a lot of food inside it. Since it would go bad anyway, might as well be generous to those in need.
He stepped out of the shadows and soon reached the city proper.
The sight made him shiver.
This city, he thought, the Capital?!
The place was at least a hundred times more majestic than the City of Burrhen and the people, throngs and throngs of them, were in ancient clothes. Clothes that seemed more fitting for Sett’s first life’s timeline than the current, more modern one.
The sheer immensity of the city squire made him gulp, his heart quaking. Memories assaulted him like a tidal wave. His stern mother, ever the indulgent grandmother, his wives, and his land—everything made him just watch, feeling lost.
I did enter a Tomb after all, he realized. Is this the world of the past?
In more advanced Tombs, there were not only traps and monsters, there will also be a piece of the past. Oftentimes, it was not a piece of this world’s past, but the past of many other worlds out there. Worlds that ran on different rules and regulations.
But this Tomb seemed to be from the past of Ehyut itself.
But then, Sett frowned.
It was definitely not his past life’s era.
Since this is a Tomb, this place might not be as safe as it looks. Is this place really the Capital?
His thoughts deepened.
This seems like a capital city, but it’s not the Capital of Ramses.
What era is this?

Was it before his reign, or after his reign?
As Sett was still lost in thought, he sniffed a familiar scent and he turned around to look.
A little figure was pushing past the crowd, her face concentrating with effort.
