Chapter 541 - : Stomach Pain in the Middle of the Night
Chapter 541: Chapter 541: Stomach Pain in the Middle of the Night
Rong Yan had no idea about his inner conflict and slept so soundly that she smacked her lips and turned over to continue her slumber…
Li Shengxiao’s eyes, deep and profound, seemed to merge with the darkness outside, those inch by inch darkening pupils under Rong Yan’s serene sleeping face gradually turned into deep helplessness.
Having just had that bowl of pigeon soup, his body felt as if it were burning with an inner heat, yet a certain little lady slept so sweetly that he couldn’t bear to disturb her…
The heat in his lower abdomen suddenly became a silent punishment for him.
Li Shengxiao pressed his thin lips together, afraid that if he stayed there any longer, he would be unable to control himself and would end up devouring her!
With a sense of helplessness, he forced himself to look away, pinched his high nose bridge, and with no other choice, went back to the bathroom for another thorough cold shower.
Having slightly quelled the heat from that bowl of pigeon soup in his body, he then went back to the study to pick up the documents he hadn’t finished and, making do with the laptop Rong Yan had left on the sofa, he started working again…
Time ticked away silently on the wall clock.
He didn’t know how long it had been; the moon had already climbed to its zenith outside the window when the man, who was working in the living room, finally frowned, stretched his neck, lifted his head, and with one hand, closed the laptop and stood up.
His damp hair had already dried naturally in the bedroom’s warm air, his resolute jawline exuded a sexy charm, and the curve of the silver-gray bathrobe draped over his body exposed a large expanse of solid chest muscles. Li Shengxiao took long strides back to the edge of the large bed, expecting the little woman who had fallen asleep from exhaustion to have a good night’s dream, only to discover upon closer inspection that the person in the bed didn’t sleep as soundly as he had imagined.
Instead, at some unknown point, her face turned flushed, her eyes painfully closed, showing a distressed expression as she curled up.
“Yanyan?” Li Shengxiao rarely saw her so vulnerable; he reached out and tapped her, “Are you feeling uncomfortable somewhere?”
The person in her sleep half-awake, her brows furrowed, and her melon-seed-shaped face nearly wrinkled into a Baby, her parched lips squeezing out a word, “Pain.”
A single word “pain” felt as if it stabbed right into Li Shengxiao’s heart.
“Damn it!” His handsome face darkened as he seriously tried to lift her, “Where does it hurt?”
Rong Yan, seemingly in extreme discomfort, curled up like a small animal in one corner of the large bed, refusing to let anyone touch her, “My stomach… my stomach hurts so much.”
Stomach pain?
Li Shengxiao lifted the quilt and saw the striking fresh red on the bedsheets!
“I’m taking you to the hospital!” he decided on the spot, bending down to carry her in his arms.
But Rong Yan completely avoided him, that extreme sense of insecurity, like a wounded animal, even in a half-asleep state would let out threatening sounds.
With her reacting so strongly, Li Shengxiao did not choose to forcefully hold her in his arms. And regarding Rong Yan’s condition, although he wasn’t sure, he roughly guessed what it might be.
He covered the little woman curled up in the corner of the large bed with the quilt again, turned around to find his phone, and dialed a number—
“Beep!”
In the dead of night, the electric current sound was especially clear.
The phone rang seven or eight times before the person on the other end reluctantly answered, “Bro, do you realize what time it is? I have an important surgery tomorrow morning, don’t mess with me like this!”
Cui Jiangjing’s complaining voice came from the other end of the phone, apparently not yet fully awake.
