Chapter 172

Chapter 172: Chapter 172

And she’s definitely going to enjoy every bit of it.

At that moment She scoffed under her breath, her fingers tapping slowly against the armrest of the chair she stood by.

No, she’ll never allow Valentina to go scot-free. Not after everything.

She tilted her head slightly, eyes narrowing with a cold, bitter gleam.

Valentina can’t be smiling while the rest of them are burning in chaos. She can’t be dancing through life while she watched everything around her sink.

’That girl—the one who had always acted like she was better than all of them—needed to feel it, Pain. Regret Loss.’

They couldn’t all suffer while she floated through life like nothing ever touched her.

then Maria let out a quiet, humorless laugh.

Valentina will be there to witness it all.

And she’ll feel it severely.

Every piece of it.

Just as she was about to speak her thoughts aloud, the door creaked open.

Immediately Maria turned toward it calmly, her cold expression quickly replaced with a softer smile the moment she saw who it was.

Chloe stepped in, her face pale and tense.

At that moment Maria parted her lips to speak, ready to share her newest plan, her excitement itching to spill—

But Chloe didn’t let her.

Instead, she spoke first—her voice tight, her words came out fast.

"Something tragic just happened."

Maria’s brows furrowed immediately, and she stood to her feet, her voice sharp.

"What’s going on? What happened?"

Chloe’s hands trembled slightly as she clutched her phone. Her voice was tight with worry.

"Liam... had an accident. He’s in the hospital. His family just called. It just happened not long ago. He hasn’t woken up yet."

For a moment, Maria just stared at her daughter, as though the words took too long to settle in. Then, without another second wasted, she rushed past the chair and grabbed her handbag.

"Let’s go. We need to go see him immediately."

Chloe gave a quick nod, her voice low, "We need to know what happened..."

They didn’t say another word. Both of them walked briskly out of the room.

Not long after they left the house, Maria and Chloe arrived at the hospital. Neither of them spoke much on the way. The silence was filled with worry. Maria’s fingers kept tapping the edge of her purse, her chest rising and falling too quickly, while Chloe just kept glancing at her phone, hoping for an update that never came.

The moment they stepped into the hospital lobby, their eyes scanned the surroundings until they spotted Liam’s family seated at the far end. The expression on their faces wasn’t reassuring—it was blank, stiff, and unreadable. That only made Maria and Chloe’s fear worse.

Immediately their steps quickened, but their hearts were racing faster.

Maria whispered under her breath, "Dear God, what happened? What really happened?"

Chloe looked over at her mother with a trembling voice. "Do you think it’s serious? Maybe he collapsed while driving? Why hasn’t anyone said anything?"

As they walked closer, Maria suddenly stopped.

Through the slightly open door of the private room, she saw Liam seated quietly on the hospital bed, no cast, no bandages, no IV drips. Just... sitting. Looking down at the floor. His hands were clasped together. His face looked pale, drained, not physically hurt—but broken in a way that was difficult to explain.

The moment Maria and Chloe stepped in fully, Chloe’s voice cracked. "Liam! What happened? Are you okay? Did you get into an accident or... what’s going on?"

Again Maria’s eyes scanned him from head to toe. She was almost out of breath. "You’re not in bandages... Thank God. I thought... we thought it was something worse."

They both exhaled—relief slowly washing over their fear. But something still didn’t feel right. Liam didn’t look up. He didn’t respond.

He looked fine on the outside... but something was deeply wrong.

But seeing him seated upright on the bed, looking uninjured, Maria and Chloe felt a wave of relief rush over them. His head was lowered, his fingers locked together tightly like he was trying to hold something in. The tension in the room, however, was thick—too thick for someone who was fine.

Again Maria stepped forward , her brows furrowed. "Liam... what is going on? We heard you were in the hospital. Did something happen? Were you in an accident?" ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

Chloe echoed right after, her voice laced with panic. "Why is everyone so quiet? What’s going on?"

But no one answered. Not Liam. Not his mother. Not even his elder brother, who stood silently by the window. The silence was too loud, and it made their anxiety worse.

At the moment Maria exchanged a look with Chloe.

"Please, talk to us," she pleaded. "Liam, say something. What happened?"

This time, it was Liam’s father who shifted slightly in his seat, his eyes cold and dark, dressed in a black traditional attire that made him look even more severe. He looked at Maria and Chloe, his voice calm but heavy.

"There’s no use hiding it anymore," he said. "Since both families are already tied down... what’s coming will be public soon. You’ll find out either way. So let me just say it now."

At that moment Maria turned to face him, and from the look on his face she could tell he was disappointed.

"I don’t know what exactly Liam went to do with someone that powerful. Someone clearly way beyond his level Inside GSK."

Liam’s father tightened his jaw, holding back the storm building in his voice. "Whatever you did," he said coldly, "you didn’t just cross a line—you burned the whole damn bridge."

Upon hearing what he just said, Maria blinked, confused. "What are you talking about? What has this got to do with GSK?"

He turned his gaze to her, sharp and disappointed. "GSK has suspended us. Do you know what that means? Out of all the families involved in that mess Liam won’t speak about—whatever that gathering was—our family was one of the few who escaped complete contract termination. Suspension for one year. One year! That’s grace. But it’s also a noose."

Immediately Chloe’s eyes widened. "Suspended? GSK? What do you mean?"
